to me willow rosenberg is the epitome of a character who's used to thinking of herself as kind and good because she's always been percieved that way by other people, but when other people say "kind and good" what they really mean is "competent yet unassertive." which isn't really a moral value, it's just the kind of personality that makes authority figures like you. so she's in the precarious position of believing herself to be a Good Person while having never really felt the need to develop a moral backbone. and this is of course the main reason why she's a little fucked up sometimes. i love this about her, to be clear.

The fact that they never truly explored the concept of a Vampire Buffy in an Alternate Universe episode is crazy because like… There was so much potential in the idea of Buffy becoming the very monster she’s spent her life slaying. I know that the consequences of a slayer’s transformation into a vampire have been explored in the comics, but it would have been interesting the protagonist, the character we’ve all grown to know and love in all her kindness and humanity, being turned into a destructive entity. Like, what would she have been like? What negative traits would have been exacerbated? How would her experiences and trauma have affected her personality as a vampire?
We got a little hint of it in the nightmare episode in season one, though its ambiguous whether that was an actual vampire Buffy, or just an illusion or manifestation of what Buffy believed a vampire her would be like.
She had the vampire hunger, and quite a bit of disgust and loathing of herself from what little we saw of her. But notably, she was also still committed to helping people.
I would suggest from this that, much as vampire Spike retained something of William's sense of chivalry, romanticism, and belief in honouring debts (he turns Ford as agreed even though his plan failed, and seems genuinely indignant in season six at the idea that he would try to get out of paying off a bet he lost), I would suggest that Buffy's sense of obligation to protect others is so deeply ingrained in her that some of it would survive even if she was turned.
This would, of course, clash with her vampiric impulses to feed and prey on humans, and probably lead to a great deal of internal conflict and self-hatred.
That’s interesting! I like to think that this personality trait would actually be twisted and turned into something destructive. Like, she’d believe that killing people or turning them would « help » them, because maybe if people become monsters themselves, then they can no longer be victims of monsters and are therefore « saved » in a way? She’d believe humanity is a curse and that her duty is to « free » people from it?
I don't think she'd get there right away, but I could see that as a point she could eventually reach- a way to try to resolve her inner conflict by rationalizing satisfying her predatory drive as actually for peoples' own good.

people don't like to acknowledge that the "heh LUCKY, where was she when i was in school?" reaction to female teachers predating on male students is primarily because those men are sexist towards women.
yes, she is the abuser and the student is the victim. yes, it is also sexist and gross that they would assume young boys have those sexual feelings towards their abuser. so the RESULT of those comments is harm towards the victims and defense of the abuser.
but the SOURCE of those comments is less that they can't see boys as victims and more that they think women are sex objects, so how could a boy be victimized by a sex object? you can see that because mentions of the victim are always throwaway lines and projection like "eh, he probably liked it anyway" and the mentions of the abuser are rants about how hot the teacher is and how bad THEY want her.
they KNOW boys can be victims, you can see that when there's a male perpetrator. but to those people, it's the same as if you'd said the boy was given a free cheeseburger to eat or a sports car to drive. this is not to defend the abusers in any way at all. this is to explain my analysis of where these comments from come from, and what the result is.
exactly, these men see it as these boys are getting an early start on completing a goal they think all men should have'- fucking' as many people they perceive as 'female' as possible.

I know that I’m sounding like a broken record, but you scratch a Ukrainophobe and you find an antisemite and vice versa.
Could you imagine anyone in the UK or Spain or Portugal fantasizing about invading countries where English, Spanish, or Portuguese are the dominant languages? They’d never hear the end of it from the same people defending Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Hell, if Angela Merkel started talking about how Germany should invade the Czech Republic again because of their German-speaking population…oh…words cannot express how much trouble Germany would be in.

I must say that while I am not hardline anti-porn nor am I generally supportive of censorship, I have been frustrated by how often when you scratch the surface of a "free speech" advocate or, God forbid, a "youth liberation" advocate on the internet just a little, you find a pedophile or CSA apologist underneath.
