DHS has waived at least 30 laws meant to protect this region and the Rio Grande with no oversight, accountability, or input from locals who will be impacted the most. This is a horrific attack on public lands, one of many inflicted by the Trump administration, and will devastate the environment, wildlife, indigenous and cultural sites, and the local tourism economy. People and wildlife in this desert ecosystem will be cut off from their water source. Local outfitters who run river trips for tourists will lose their businesses. Archeological sites will be destroyed. Indigenous communities will be cut off from their ancestral land. The darkest night skies in the lower 48 will be lit up with industrial border lighting. All of this for a sector that makes up 25% of the border but only 1.3% of crossings.

DHS has awarded $7.5 billion in contracts for border wall construction in Texas alone. The sector in Big Bend National Park will cost $1.7 billion which is at least two thirds of last year’s budget for the entire NPS. All in the name of a manufactured crisis that doesn't exist. Think of all the good we could do in this country with that money.

Your congressional representatives have the power to withhold the funding for the border wall. Please, please take two minutes to contact your representatives and tell them to withhold the funding. Many lives are counting on you.

every now n then i think about how native americans as human beings just dont exist in like 99% of mainstream media. in movies or tv shows or books or video games or you know even in porn like we just arent people. when theres a native character theyre like a wild west indian. like truly to ppl we all died back in the 1900s.

Actually, no, I don't think that friendships dropping like flies in your late 20s and early 30s because no one has time for that between overwork and family obligations and marriage and kids and partners and the ritual of the time slayer is normal and ok. No I don't think deep conversations and spontaneous adventures being replaced with a tired coffee every six months is a normal part of growing up. I don't think that emotional intimacy and soul bonds disintegrating in the face of practical inconvenience is a fact of life. I think that means something is deeply deeply wrong with our society and I will never forgive it for the friends I've lost
