Fantasy map illustration for “Das Schwarze Auge” – and finally something I haven’t shown yet. Back in 2025, the adventure “Schrecken der Meere” was released, and I had the great pleasure of illustrating three ship deck maps for it. The maps show the layouts of „Die Djalarose“, „Die Schwalbe von Zorgan“ and „Die schwarze Orchidee“.

Drawing ship floor plans was a wonderful challenge, and I truly enjoyed this project.

The adventure was written by, among others, Christian Bathen and Angelika Prokschi – a small but very welcome informal collaboration for me.

“Gotham Reloaded”(40x50cm) – my newest traditional acrylic painting that combines two of my biggest inspirations: Cyberpunk aesthetics and the dark legacy of Batman.

This piece received amazing feedback at Comic Con last weekend – especially when people discovered its hidden feature: it glows under blacklight.

A cyber-enhanced Batman overlooking a dystopian future Gotham… this artwork was so much fun to paint.

A little early year-in-review post – but 2025 has been such a wild, exciting and versatile year for me as an artist that I wanted to share a few highlights today.

This year was full of challenges, new worlds, new characters and so many different illustration styles – and I loved every single part of it. I really enjoy switching between traditional paintings, digital cover art, dark fantasy atmospheres, RPG illustrations and all the creative tasks that different publishers trust me with. I guess I’m simply up for (almost) anything when it comes to art.

I’m incredibly grateful for all the exciting projects I got to work on in 2025 – released and unreleased – and for all the amazing people I’ve met along the way. My traditional art journey continued as well, with exhibitions, conventions and so many warm encounters with people who love fantasy just as much as I do.

Being able to support myself and my family with the passion I’ve loved for more than 20 years still feels unbelievable sometimes. Thank you all for being part of this journey. 💛

And with the year slowly coming to an end, I’m already curious and excited about what 2026 will bring – new worlds, new challenges, new adventures.

Another glimpse into the world of "Midgard – Legenden von Damatu"!

This time I’m sharing "Vassar", the steadfast Knight of the Order and one of the playable characters from the adventure volume "Die Umstürmten" by Mike Krzywik-Groß.

It was an honor to illustrate him for Pegasus Spiele and to see the artwork come together on the final cover.

Huge thanks to Art Director Robert Gärtner, and shoutout to the amazing Lucas Schmat, who illustrated the powerful character on the left side of the cover.

This piece is something very special to me. It shows our little "KULT: Divinity Lost" roleplaying group — a campaign that has been running for almost three years now, and yet, in-game, only about a month has passed. The story takes place in 1980s Seattle — and its shadowed reflection. Our GM weaves magic into every session, diving deep into our characters’ pasts and emotions. Because of that, we’ve barely touched the “official” adventure… and I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. The scene, titled “A Taste of Peace,” captures one of those very rare moments when our characters actually get to laugh — a brief spark of light in an otherwise haunting story. From left to right: Yuna, Chris, and Mexx — accompanied by the world-wandering cat Alistair (NPC) and Mexx’s loyal dog Pyro. I painted this scene just for us — as a memory of the most intense, emotional, and meaningful group I’ve ever been part of. I love these characters, and I love the people behind them. Here’s to the stories that move us, and the friendships that make them unforgettable. ❤💀✨

Welcome to the Kingdom of Doriath 🌙

I painted this piece between 2019 and 2020 — it took me about a year to capture the calm, mystical beauty of the Elven realm of Doriath. Some of you might recognize it from my booth — it’s the large framed painting that always stands proudly beside me at conventions.

Hidden deep within the forests of Beleriand, Doriath was protected by Queen Melian’s enchantments and ruled wisely by King Thingol. The land itself seemed alive — ancient trees, gentle light, and a peace only found under the watch of the Sindar Elves.

✨ This painting was chosen as the official Ardapedia illustration for “Doriath” and published on the inner spread of the Tolkien Society Bulletin in 2025.

Throwback to 2022 when I managed to take part in a "Do this in your Style" challenge for the first (and only😅) time. The DTIYS was from @elenastripe and this is my version of her beautiful OC "Vera". I found this character so intriguing that I really wanted to draw her.😊

Dann darf ich sie euch jetzt auch zeigen.😊 "Aralia" gehört zum "Midgard 6 - Legenden von Damatu"-PnP-Universum von Pegasus Spiele, welches aktuell noch in der Entwicklung ist. Ein paar "Teaser" werden zu Conventions allerdings schon veröffentlicht. So der limitierte Softcover-Band "Die Umstürmten", dessen Cover unter anderem Aralia zieren darf. Die gedruckte Version wird es nur auf der Spiel Essen 2025 geben.

My illustration for the mirror witch "Aralia" has been published by the publisher. So, I can now show it to you, too😊 "Aralia" is part of the "Midgard 6 - Legends of Damatu" PnP universe from Pegasus Games, which is currently still in development. However, a few teasers are already being released for conventions. For example, the limited edition softcover volume "Die Umstürmten", whose cover features Aralia, among other characters. The printed version will only be available at Spiel Essen 2025.

Something a little different today… ✨ I had a few of my paintings made into acrylic keychains – so you can actually carry a tiny piece of my art with you. 🗝️💜 I honestly wasn’t sure if this was a good idea, but I thought it could be a fun way to bring my artwork into everyday life. ✨ Witch Shop ✨-Watercolor paint on Paper 2025-

This piece is something very new for me – my very first attempt to paint in the spirit of Studio Ghibli. 🌸 I’ve loved Hayao Miyazaki’s films (and Japan in general) for such a long time, and I always wanted to try capturing a bit of that magical, heartwarming atmosphere myself.

It’s also my first real experiment with watercolor – and I must admit, I fell in love with the medium while painting this little shop full of glowing crystals, floating fish and curious cats. 🐾💫

This is Dorbaja, a human assassin from Midgard 6 – Die Legenden von Damatu! 🗡️ I created this character sketch for Pegasus Games, and it’s already featured in the digital Playtest Guide. The final version will be fully colored and appear in the finished book later this year! Excited to bring this piece to life—stay tuned! ✨
