"I don't like rap bc it's overstimulating" ok? in comparison to???? you kids saying that are out here listening to breakcore and dubstep and vocaloid music, but a black person rapping abt sex over rhythm and bass samples is suddenly too much for you to handle??? be serious

#white kids online respect black artists and the black roots of your favorite modern music genres challenge (impossible)#it's one thing to not like a song/genre of music but like. a lot of you guys' complaints abt rap music just flat out don't make sense#like you say it's overstimulating or too sexual etc. but plenty of other mainstream and net-born genres you like are also Like That#so those arguments against rap and hip-hop very quickly fall apart. and it becomes v clear what you Actually don't like abt it#and i can say all this bc when I was a kid I used to be one of those annoying ''everything but rap and country'' types#til I like actively sought out different kinds of black rap/hip-hop artists and was like ''wait this shit rules actually wtf was I on abt''#''why am I calling THIS music overstimulating and 'inappropriate' when I listen to vocaloid dubstep music with a bunch of 🍋👅+🩸🔪 themes''#anyways... apropos of nothing but I just discovered this artist called slayr and his stuff is awesome#random thoughts with kei the average

Genuinely surprised to see this from Jamie p and super glad as well. I feel like it's become such a pattern of seeing white queer creators casually say some racist shit or something to come out and then never properly apologize.

So seeing Jamie Paige be outright "No fuck y'all stupid racist white teens, she'd rather stop making music catering to you than let you make a fool of her art" is incredibly refreshing and makes me glad that to be a fan of hers and feel both seen and comfortably safe knowing that for once someone has the decency not to be a racist piece of shit!

Also go listen to Slayr right now! I remember hearing a couple of his songs before, and liking all of them, and this one is no different. Honestly I hope we get to see more hip-hop sampling and remixes of vocaloid music because its so so cool and wish it was done more often.

And hey this is also directed at all you fuck ass "rap is overstimulating" idiots on Tumblr too!

Something else I think is important to add to this post as well :]

A bit more self explanatory, but I'm glad he's confident to state it for the people in the back that Vocaloid isn't just a white people thing. It's a bit bittersweet to me in a sense that a lot of black creators online feel the need to hide themselves, but I definitely understand (I'm guilty of this sometime too the way Tumblr acts sometimes) but I'm glad to see that people are being more openly anti racist for once and I hope this trend doesn't stop.

Also I know it's already his most popular song, but it is such a banger too, go listen to this and the rest of his vocaloid music too!

like yes actually there is a conversation to be had about how a characters actions are framed and how they thematically fit with the rest of the story and it can in fact reflect the author's beliefs. some authors are even trying to make a point

not all depiction is glorification but sometimes it is and you need to be able to tell the difference. not because your immortal soul will be tainted by reading The Bad One, but because you need to have reading comprehension skills
