politics for cute girls

@jingerpi

I think more girls should be Marxists

Entry level jobs haven't existed since the 2008 crash. 90% of hiring managers won't hire recent graduates. A quarter of job listings are ghost jobs. Companies hire part time so that they don't have to give benefits. Federal minimum wage hasn't increased since 2009. The True Unemployment Rate is 25%. Master's are the new bachelor's. For most the job search takes over a year. 75% of resumes are never. actually seen by the hiring team.

Read more:

Actually as many as 1-in-3 job listings are fake, because this allows companies to claim they are "actively recruiting and growing" even when they aren't, which looks good to investors and can lead to government benefits as well.

In the US, hiring several part time jobs allows companies to save about 30% on benefits compared to hiring one full time job. This is directly because of the US's predatory healthcare system and lack of the worker protections common in other imperialist core economies.

The US minimum wage has been static for my entire adult life, in part because efforts to pin the minimum wage to cost of living metrics are constantly stonewalled by wealthy political groups.

The US labor participation rate is around 80% of abled adults, which yes, does mean about 20% of abled adults are not working, but perhaps much more damningly, this is actually very high participation compared to a lot of US history, and yet the cost of living and pay are so mismatched that quality of life is reaching impressive lows.

Masters degrees are being devalued as a consequence of the prior devaluation of Bachelors, that itself caused by the destruction and devaluation of compulsory public schooling in the US. This combines with the absence of entry level positions in deeply fraught ways.

I am unable to corroborate the claim that US job searches average greater than a year. However they do average well over 7 months, and the US's notoriously spiteful and underpaying unemployment system cuts off support much sooner than that. If you can even get unemployment support in the first place.

And finally, yes, 75% of completed and successful applications will be automatically rejected by machines without human oversight. That's for complete applications on the company's own site with resumes attached. Just plain resumes, and applications completed on third party sites like Indeed, have much worse numbers than even that.

“The plates on this car are stolen,” Officer Ganshyn said. My face must’ve twisted in disbelief because he continued, saying they weren’t sure whether the car itself or just the plates were stolen. This made absolutely no sense. Car companies keep meticulous track of the fleets they loan out to the media. The vehicles all have special manufacturer or dealer plates that are logged every time one enters or exits. The officers eventually ran the Range Rover’s VIN, and it came back clean, but in their view, the plates were definitely stolen.
Before I could even process that, another officer dropped the big surprise: they’d actually been tracking me around town for days via Flock cameras. But they kept losing the trail, so when a camera alerted them that the Range Rover had been spotted turning into Kohl’s that morning, they quickly set up their ambush and waited for me and my wife to walk out of the store and get into the SUV.

[…]

One of the officers pulled out his phone, opened the Flock app, and showed me two photos: a wide shot of the Range Rover going through the intersection and a zoomed-in shot of the New Jersey license plate, which clearly reads 34 10 DTM and says VEHICLE MFR along the bottom. Critically, the number 10 is in a much smaller font than the rest of the tag, which is the non-standard structure New Jersey uses for manufacturer plates.

[…]

The New Jersey plates that were allegedly stolen from the LA dealer were 34 03 DTM, not 34 10 DTM. But when the police report was created and the plate was entered into Flock’s system, it was just recorded as 34 DTM. Just the five large characters, no little number in the middle. And Flock’s AI tech wasn’t registering that non-standard little number when it began picking up the Range Rover around town. It just saw 34 DTM in large type and started alerting the local police.
As we all stood there shaking our heads, including my wife, who was finally allowed to join me, I connected the final dot. A lot of vehicles in JLR’s media fleet have a New Jersey manufacturer plate with the same alphanumeric structure—34 ## DTM—and Officer Ganshyn observed that meant it was now a nationwide issue. Anywhere a police department has a partnership with Flock, any other JLR-owned car with the same plate structure is going to get flagged as stolen. In fact, four other 34 ## DTM cars were being tracked around Minnesota that week, according to Officer Ganshyn. I was just the first one to get nabbed. The only way to stop it would be for the LAPD to correct their initial report and update Flock’s system, which Jaguar Land Rover was now racing to make happen following the phone call.
Still, he warned me to drive straight home, park the Range Rover, and leave it there. If I were to cross into the neighboring town, I’d probably get flagged again and go through this entire ordeal again with a different set of officers. His parting words were ominous: “You’re lucky we’re in Plymouth. If you were in Minneapolis, they definitely would’ve come at you with guns drawn.”

Obviously idgaf about third-worlders ventposting about reactionary tendencies in the Amerikkkan proletariat, but I have no fucking patience for pessimism from people who could actually be organizing here. I can't think of a position more hospitable to our local bourgeoisie than "socialist organizing amongst the U.S. working class is pointless"

Stop making shitty excuses and get organized !!

you know I'm not exactly equipped to adequately discuss the situation of trafficked labor in US military bases across the world but I do find it notable how despite all the concern for poor little soldiers who were tricked into joining the military I've not seen one person on this website or anywhere else for that matter talk about how the US relies on human trafficking for much of their reproductive labor

by the way i know it seems like ICE is killing a lot of people already but its even worse than it seems. In Minneapolis alone ICE has murdered 3 people in just 17 days. in all 365 days of 2019 only 48 people were killed in Minneapolis. ICE and the US government are on track to double the number of murders in Minneapolis (64 by end of year at this rate). Imagine your own government being responsible for not just the plurality but the MAJORITY of deaths in a given city.

obviously its unlikely they continue at this rate for an entire year but its unacceptable regardless. this also isn't just happening in Minneapolis of course, which makes the scale far worse. Lastly, 2019 was a low year for murders, but its what I found record of, it has been higher in other years, but it seems to be on the same order of magnitude regardless.

That isn't to say that the previously discussed efforts were done out of good will, they were not, they were done specifically to carry out harm to china and their allies. They were also carried out by different people than those responsible for the current antivax surge. However, both of these issues highlight massive issues in the US government which can only be fully corrected by proletarian revolution

the US government is largely responsible for the anti-vax conspiracies here too. while not quite as direct as some other meddling, the government has the means to stop antivaccination ideology from spreading and choose not to. Anti-vaxxers are not a universal problem all countries deal with. Many countries have little to no antivaxxers at all, because they're careful about not only building trust in medicine, but also censoring harmful views on social media. Many people would cower from this kind of censorship in the US, but its already in place, only, its wielded against those who support Palestine and figures like Luigi Mangione. While many of these issues apply to the UK as well as a few other countries, antivaxxers are somewhat of a "school shooting" issue, it seems to some like an inevitable result of bad actors, but its not- its a very clear and specific policy failure which costs immeasurable lives

this is to say nothing of extremely lenient exemptions available for vaccinations and the direct incorporation of anti-vaccination rhetoric and policy in certain branches of government, making this an increasingly dire issue.

Following a recent maneuver by RFK jr, the CDCs official line is that vaccines cause autism, a long since debunked claim.

the site now says the following, which is entirely untrue and repeatedly disprove:

Key points - The claim "vaccines do not cause autism" is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism. - Studies supporting a link have been ignored by health authorities.

Don't have enough brain power free rn to express it fully but there's something to be said for the way the outcry at trump and conservatives in general, or more accurately the silence when atrocities are committed by the Democrats, skews peoples perception of the actual actions being taken by these parties.

People hear more about the bad things Republicans do than the bad things Democrats do, and it's not that they're imagining the Republicans being awful but they are kind of being tricked into thinking the Democrats don't do those things too because if there isn't outcry then it must not be happening. trump is worse on deportation so we need to talk about it more, how do I know trump is worse on deportation? because people are talking about it more than they did under biden. never mind Democrats repeatedly break records on deportations. it's very circular

btw if you're actually concerned about child sexual abuse you might want to look at the marriage ages in your country. Here's the US:

aside from the already common points of discussion (the church, scouts, etc) this type of stuff is how CSA is enabled on a societal scale. The nuclear family in general and it's grasp over children is a nightmare, but even just the ages at which children can be pushed into marriages by their family is awful enough. in most of these states the age of consent is also lower for women

it's very clear the cries for protecting children is really about controlling them. they talk about predators but then lobby to lower the age of consent for marriage. very clear what's going on if you pay attention

dear us liberals: do y'all know about "the box"? the one you have to check when you're applying for school or a job that says whether or not you're a felon? you know how activists have been trying to ban it for years?

consider the implications of that and why its important

now tell me again why you need to stalk and harass and air out minorities online for their mistakes or worse, their already private, personal, kinks and fetishes? explain to me why it's justified to remove someone from society because of how they've Posted™?

While I don't want to reify legal systems, you know many felons are such because of violent crimes right? like people do kill each other sometimes, and still we organize in real life not just to stop discrimination based off felon status, but to ban asking about it entirely!

I feel it really gives some perspective to how ruthless and vindicative these online mob justice campaigns are. I don't really know how to end this post just... think carefully, consider the impacts of your actions. yes maybe attacking someone will make you look good or be beneficial for your social clique but it will eventually turn on you. this method of engagement is fundamentally bankrupt and if you defend it then you're positioning yourself against basically every oppressed group. maybe you're okay with that now but I promise you in the end it will not work out in your favor.

hi welcome to LA! come with me i wanna show you all the oil drilling sites that are disguised as office/government buildings ^_^

these are all oil rigs. some of them aren't disguised at all and you get shit like this

oil drilling sites in LA are disproportionately concentrated in poor Black and non-white communities, and these communities have a disproportionate pollution burden caused by air pollution from the rigs. which causes elevated health risks (click on different "population characteristics" to see rates of cardiovascular disease, low birth weights, etc)

The USA is remarkably homogenous. the people in power are almost entirely white Christian men, with rare exceptions from other groups when they happen to become wealthy enough.

the linguistic diversity in the USA is also basically non-existent in comparison to other countries it's size. the only linguistic diversity is pretty much indigenous languages that are being stamped out through native genocide that continues to this day, and Spanish, another colonialist language, which is primarily brought into this country because the US bourgeoisie utterly destroys so many Central and South American countries with the intent that they (the US) remain the only prosperous country on the continent.

y'all love maps from the web right? have the first linguistic diversity map I came across

The US socialist movement is pretty cleanly divided between a minority who believe that revolution is an actual real thing that we can for real do within our lifetime, and a majority who just don’t.

Imo both the most common tendencies of leftist and rightist deviations here come from this presupposition. The rightists conclude that because revolution is impossible we must settle for reformism; and the leftists that should commit acts of self-sacrificing adventurism for the sake of doing something. Some anarchists have come to the logical conclusion that, revolution being impossible, we should prioritize “joy as an act of resistance,” and here they are moving ever closer to being reabsorbed by mainstream US culture. 🤷‍♀️

People talk a lot about disunity in the US left (how do we have 30 different tiny communist parties and a shit ton of communist adjacent orgs who all won’t talk to each other?), and I think that one of the main reasons is that the thing that should unify us, the commitment to actual revolution, is absent. Of course, if we were all genuinely devoted to discovering the correct course of action in working toward revolution, then we would already be working together. Instead the different parties/orgs are largely proposing competing ideas for how to fill the gap which this sense of purpose has left.

The material basis for this degraded self-confidence is the neo-liberal mode of production, where the us working class is mostly divided between high-value-added manufacturers who put the finishing touches on luxury commodities, and retail/transportation laborers who experience capitalism not as the theft of the fruits of their labor but an endless stream of commodities which they are forced to distribute unfairly. Both sub-classes are increasingly oblivious to the actual production process, and so struggle to conceive of a world which we as workers build for ourselves.

I don't know where I am going with this post. I am drunk and I need to go to sleep. I will let y’all know when I finish these thoughts though 😉

Anyways you should join an org. Posting is good but please join an org 👉👈. Also this is maybe a side thing, but us trans girls really need to fuse Marxism with the Trans liberation movement! Just, like, do it in a way that doesn't draw a line between us and the working class. I don't think it will be too hard but we should get in that.

Ok. I’m gonna post this without reading it over first now 👍
