Squirrelflight is bisexual confirmed
To everyone in the tags of this post, one, stating that Kate Cary Should Just Do This Now, two, acting as if she willingly did not do this and three, acting as if this is an extension of the author's confirming queerness outside of the books, does not understand the current state of the Warrior Cats writing team. Firstly. Kate is NOT on the Warriors team anymore. She does not do this job!! She does not go here!!! She has no control over the books, no control over what is written in them. I understand it is frustrating to see, but she can't do that.
Secondly, Kate isn't a decision making party in the Warriors series. The team at Harper Collins are who decide what goes into the books and what does. Kate regularly tried to sneak in references to member of her Blog, and only a few got through (hence her attempts to add Emberdawn to the books twice! The reason why there are two Emberdawn's is because she thought at least one would be removed in the editing process as many other attempts have been). There is no way Kate Cary could have gone to the authors "yeah I am only going to write Squirrelflight dating women now thanks"
Thirdly, this is a personal comment made by Kate during a live chat on a kids warrior cats blog. Again she is NOT officially a writer or part of the team anymore! It is very annoying that queerness is confirmed outside of the books, but this is not an official author statement in the way other elements are. It is a former author of the series expressing what she thinks of the lesbian Squirrelflight headcanon!
I think we need to remember that the actual authors of these books are not the story team, and that Kate Cary Does Not Go Here. She hasn't written a book since Star!! Due to being a moderator on the warrior cats blog, BlogClan, I have some personal chats with Kate Cary, and she is a very politically active and LGBT supportive person, doing a lot in her real life. I don't think we should get on our high horses about her not forcing the writing team to write lesbian Squirrelflight just because she personally likes the idea that Squirrelflight could ditch Brambleclaw. Take this similarly to the FireGrey fanfic she wrote, or just a personal AU of someone no longer involved with the creation of these books
