Thinking about the stanford prison experiments. You know, that famously unethical clusterfuck led by a guy who should've lost his licence for how irresponsibly he ran this experiment.

Where basically he took a bunch of college dudes and amped them up to feel like nothing they did could have any real world consequences, and then gave them real power over other students and it went off the rails so bad they cancelled the whole thing in a week.

And the study itself doesn't mean much in terms of the prison psychology they were trying to study, but it was an interesting demonstration of how certain people can be rather easily goaded into acts of extreme cruelty.

Also thinking about who ICE recruits and how they dehumanize their targets while creating a culture of imperviousness to consequences, and then giving them real power over other people.

Except this experiment didn't stop in a week. It's been ongoing for over two decades. The cruelty has only gotten worse as their power expands.

It's not speculation. We've seen how they behave in broad daylight, in public and on camera. What do you think they're doing when no one can see?

This is true for law enforcement agencies as a whole too, but I'm thinking about ICE in particular right now, because they currently have the most funding and the least oversight.

The government that won't provide healthcare or the resources to make sure your food is safe wants to spend $20mil to give ICE agents shock weapons. Gloves that shock you if they grab you.

There is absolutely nothing the United States government cares less about than public safety. They do not want you to be safe, they want you to be contained and controlled. And so there's always money to corral you, never to help you.

Idk who needs to hear this, but the cyclospora outbreak is still happening, and if anything seems to be getting worse. So remain cautious.

Interestingly it seems like after a source was identified and companies started losing money because of people entirely avoiding the producer who is now responsible for at least two deaths, the outbreak started getting talked about less.

So here's your reminder that the companies who produce the food you eat do not care about you. They would rather sell you diarrhea lettuce than allow themselves to lose their precious profits.

elon musk is suing to oppose a law that will levy fines against apps that make nude deep fakes.

A law which specifically targets "nudify" apps that create non consensual explicit deep fakes.

His company is suing Minnesota's Attorney General to stop them from banning non consensual explicit deep fakes in Minnesota.

His lawyers are claiming that it would violate free speech to interfere with the creation of non consensual explicit deep fakes, including kids.

The same company is also facing a lawsuit because of CSA material generated by Grok, btw

They're going to look us right in the eyes on Aug 4th and tell us McConnell suddenly passed away

They might wait a week for appearances, but the second they're in the clear, they're gonna clip the marionette strings they've rigged to his corpse.

Mitch McConnell (allegedly): I'm totally fine. I just fell down for reasons unknown and then had an unrelated case of pneumonia. But I'm perfectly capable of doing my job, which I will still not be doing for the foreseeable future.

Don't replace me though, I'm technically alive. Even though I am also admitting to having abandoned my post & have no plans to resume it. [AI-generated smiling hospital pic that clearly used extremely old pictures as source material]

I don't think it's unreasonable for our public officials to be expected to prove they're alive and not in a coma to be able to retain their office.

If someone were, as a random example, say hospitalized for over two weeks with no explanation, I think that should automatically trigger a special election to replace them.

If you're still able to do your job, then prove it. And if you're not, then you're actively obstructing democracy by not stepping down.

Which is to say, that if a public official were to pass away or into a coma, and their handlers choose to obfuscate that fact, this should be seen as intentionally obstructing democracy.

And there should be, you know, consequences for the people who would do such a thing.

Every conservative politician moral scandal makes sense once you understand that the only value they actually believe in is control.

It's never actually about whatever they claim the moral panic is about. It's never really about abortion or kink or queer people or immigrants or anything else. It's always about control.

And they will weaponize whatever is convenient if they think they can use it to maintain control.

They know that their own wealth and influence will shield them from the consequences of the legislation they're trying to pass. They know the laws they set won't apply to them, so they'll happily push for hypocritical laws if needed.

The crux of the anti trans movement is a war on bodily autonomy. They don't want you to have any agency over what you look like, how you dress, who you date, whether to have kids, etc.

They want total control over you. Not just trans people. Not just queer people. You. Everyone.

Trans people are just a scapegoat. They want total control over everyone's self expression. They want the right to mold you into their perfect little cog in their dehumanizing machine.

Happy Trans Day of Visibility. Our rights are your rights. Our destruction is your destruction.

I'm not trying to call this person out specifically, but I just want to be clear that I am not talking about just conservatives. The anti trans movement contains a lot of democrats including current liberal golden boy Gavin Newsom.

The "they" here is clearly stated. It's the anti trans movement. If you think that movement is only conservatives you are failing us already.
