ive devised a new spell that turns the haters into dickriders - its called time
i predict when tumblr finally does end someday there won't be any warning or fanfare. we'll all just be blogging one day and all of the sudden it'll be like
hey! Feel free to ignore this- I’ve always really resonated with your music. Personally I’ve found working on creative projects while dealing w/ lots of mental hard stuff to be super difficult. Do you have any tips for working on stuff when one can’t bring themselves to do like. Anything. if not that’s totally fine obv. Have a wonderful day !
I’m glad you resonated with my stuff!
I’m kinda a terrible person to ask this cuz part of the reason why I have such a small discography is that I go through really intense periods of debhilitating depression and other mental health stuff where I just can’t get any art done.
part of what allows me to create though is that I really like making music. making music is fun and fulfilling for me. so I’m motivated not just by a desire to deliver a finished product but by a desire to engage with the creative process in and of itself. when I’m not making music I’m less happy and fulfilled. it’s not just about wanting to finish an album and put it out, it’s about wanting to do the work in and of itself.
one of the things that helps with getting me into that creative process is finding small ways to engage with music. I rarely sit down and force myself to write lyrics. I just kinda keep the idea of creating more music and lyrics in the back of my mind and write things down on the notes app on my phone when they come to me. when im going through the motions and feeling things i organize those feelings into meter and rhythm and rhyme schemes as a way to process and deal with them and those become the lyrics to my songs. I try to practice guitar or fuck around with sound design while watching YouTube or anime or a movie. I open up my laptop over and over and try to just make one beat or write just one song and even though I’ll fail to produce anything 99 times I’ll succeed once and that’s more than nothing.
what this looks like for you specifically will vary, but the bottom line is to not get too caught up in making big steps towards a set creative goal. when you can do nothing, doing anything is an accomplishment. whatever way you can engage with your creative outlet is a step in the right direction when you’re struggling like that.
I hope any of this is helpful.

What happened to all the square jawed cisgender women in movies after their faces went out of style. They went missing. We lost something
This post from my drunk liveblog of Aliens (1986) was kinda real like where are they. Every mainstream actress looks like a praying mantis now
