Practical Chinese Words Learning

If you come to China, you may often hear Chinese people call you 老外 or 歪果仁. 老外, literally means “old foreign". That`s not because you`re old. Chinese used to call people in this "老+surname” way. 歪果仁, literally means “slanting nutlet". It`s because foreigners often pronounce 外国人(wài guó rén) with the weird tones which sounds like 歪果仁(wāi guǒ rén). You know, the tones are really important!
