the callie + calder sibling relationship was forged in genuinely nice moments i guess but im on episode 70 and i feel like ever since callie differentiated her relationship with kenna (beloved younger sister) from her relationship with calder (twin brother you make fun of) it's like both axford and hurwitz just ran with it. there were plenty of bits before this but calder going "i clutch my veneer. callie is definitely going to try to steal it" without axford even saying anything really took me out......like we've crossed into the realm of bits over reality if you think your found family twin sister is going to steal the cap off your tooth. she literally would though haha she would <3
meteor witch!!!!!! 💫☄️💥🐉🤙🏾
so close to the end of c3 (naddpod) but its stressing me out that i am actually getting close to catching up after a year and a half of listening and also im on the patreon now so I get notifications for new episode postings of c4 that make me go fuuuuck i want to experience these guys in a week to week format. but first ☝🏾 skaldova and the heralded (by the person who got me into naddpod) emily axford cringe lesbian knight pc
new jersey needs a win. let this be the murph d20 season fr
naddpod listener supremacy complex did turn out to be real in that sometimes i could be talking to a friend who also likes dimension 20 and in the back of my head i hear a little voice that goes "damn and they don't even know about jens" because everyone should know how good of a DM he is but also about jens. that being said can you even imagine the kind of encounters he could build with dropouts resources. their story team. a loremaster who keeps an eye on combat and health levels. lighting cues.
new jersey needs a win. brian murphy 🫵🏾 get thee behind the d20 screen
i completely understand why the trinyvale triplets had to be deleveled for strahd considering their bad behavior in other trinyvale isekais but also like. release the chain lightning cut ⚡⚡⚡
in which murph has a very normal time at the hands of his players
Transcript:
Murph: Wel-come back to Bahumia everybody! [Jake, Emily, and Caldwell echo him with "Bahumia!". Caldwell sounds incredibly enthusiastic.] Murph: He's so excited! Caldwell Tanner, thanks for being here. Caldwell: Ye-ah! Murph: It's not your turn yet, dude! Caldwell: I'm so sorry sir! Murph: Okay? I'm your Dungeon Master Brian Murphy, joined by Jake Hurwitz-- Caldwell: Bahumia! Jake: [laughs] Hey! Dude! Murph: Caldwell! Caldwell: Sorry! Emily: [laughs] Bahumia! Bahumia! Jake: I'm trying to rhyme, man! Murph: Quit stepping on him with your enthusiasm! Caldwell: I'm just so ready to go! Emily: Bahumia! Jake: I worked really hard on this. I di-- [sighs] well forget it. Fuckin' forget it. Murph: No you gotta! Emily: Bahumia! [Overlapping crosstalk as Caldwell and Murph encourage Jake.] Caldwell: You've got this. Murph: You got this. Jake, go ahead, don't let these two enthusiasms get in your way, alright? Jake: Yeah. Alright, no, yeah. I got this. I got this. Yeah. Caldwell: Whoo! He's got this! Jake: Fighting alongside-- Caldwell: You've got this man! Do it! Murph: Stop! You have to stop! Jake: I know I got it! I'm doin' it! (Calder voice) Fighting alongside a frog and a bard with my brand new sword, Shard. [Emily and Caldwell laugh.] Murph: Yeah! Pretty good. I do feel like we built it up though, at a certain point. And there was just-- there was no way you could fully deliver. Jake: Yeah. It would've been perfect if I got it out clean right up top as soon as you introed. Murph: Yeah, if we did a super low energy intro. [Jake: M-hm. Yeah.] Caldwell: I think it was great man, I think it was amazing, I can't wait to hear it again! Murph: Who is this person. And then of course we've got Emily Axford-- Emily: Bahumia! [Everyone laughs. The others continue laughing harder as Murph talks.] Murph: Ohh. Okay?? That's the name of the world. Her character's name is Calliope Petrichor. If for some reason episode 57 of campaign 3 is the first thing you've listened to. That's Emily Axford. (laughing) She plays Calliope Petrichor. She did say before we started, I think almost as a counter-bit to Emily's bit, before we started (laughing) Emily said "I'm not gonna do a rhyme I don't feel like it." And I said "wild energy to bring into the episode!" so Caldwell went the opposite and went overenthusiastic. They're just fucking with me! Everything we do is just an inside joke to make me upset. Caldwell: And now you're caught up! Murph: Yeah, and now we're caught up. Caldwell: Bahumia! Murph: And-- [laughs] and Bahumia. And-- Uh, and then of course we've got Caldwell Tanner-- Jake: (yelling) Bahumia! Emily: Yeah!!! Jake's in on it!! Caldwell: See, it feels good! It feels good. Murph: Okay. Caldwell Tanner, of course, plays Sol-- Caldwell: Ohhh, Sol Bufo [Murph: Okay.] I'm feeling fine, just found out I'm two of a kind, [Emily: ooh!] and now I'm gonna go and find out if Swag's still alive. I'm really trying to thrive here. Bahumia. [The others laugh. As they talk, Caldwell laughs too.] Murph: You lost me. But you had me for a moment. And that's more that can be said for the other guys. Jake: Wow. Emily: Bahumia. Murph: [laughs] Bahumia. Jake: Bahumia, guys. Murph: Sure. Hey guys, Bahumia. We did it. We did it everyone. Alright? Everyone settle. Settle? Okay?
[The others sigh as if relaxing, and chorus "yeah."] Murph: Ready? Alright. Let's do-- let's do-- Caldwell: Eldermourne. Murph: Not the right campaign. Not the correct campaign. Caldwell: Shit, sorry. Murph: Let's go ahead and do a little-- [laughs as Emily interrupts him] recap-- Emily: That's Calliope's middle name. [Everyone laughing.] Murph: (through laughter) Shut. The fuck up. Everyone. Alright. [Pause as everyone continues to laugh.] Jake: S-- sorry. Murph: So last time, you left Calder's home to pursue Gowan to the Ice Knife, but received a call from Albin along the way-- [laughs] Shut up, dude. Jake: Bahumia. Bahumia. [Everyone laughs.] Murph: This is precious information! Jake: Bahumia! Emily: Bahumia! Bahumia. Caldwell: (exaggerated) Bahumia! Murph: Yeah, okay. You guys are like pokemon now? [The others laugh.] Okay. Alright. Worst bit ever. Okay. [Jake: Bahumia] You recieved a message from Albin--
Murph: -- You were greeted by a ghostly message in the ice that said Friends… Murph and Emily: Betray! Emily: I remember! Murph: You remember. Good job, Em. Jake: Holy shit. She's back. Murph: You get a sticker. Emily: I wrote it in my notebook. Murph: Very good! [Emily: Yeah, yeah, yeah.] That almost makes up to your behavior for the first three minutes of the show [The others laugh.]
Murph: And that's where we are now. Caldwell: Alright! All my real betrayal heads get ready! Emily: Yeah! Caldwell: This is where it starts! Murph: [laughs] Shut up. All of you. [Everyone laughs.] Caldwell: (through laughter) I can't. I have to talk for another hour at least. I'm so sorry. Murph: It's all good. Alright. So--
Murph: Sweet, well we'll talk more about this over on our Patreon. That's patreon.com/naddpod that's N-A-D-D-P-O-D-don't sing yet-- [Emily and Jake start to sing "We"] Caldwell: Bahumia! Murph: Yeah, remember that. [laughs] D-- Do you guys remember that? Uh-- Emily: Bahumia! Caldwell: What are you talking about, man? Murph: Bahumia! Does anyone else have anything they'd like to plug? Emily: Bahumia! Murph: Bahumia, yeah. Jake: Oh, yeah, I would love to plug Bahumia. Murph: Yeah. Check it out. Campaign 1, campaign 3. Caldwell: The world. Emily: Oh! [Murph: uh-huh] Uh, actually can I plug Bahumia? Murph: Great. Really good job, guys. Awesome. Caldwell: It's an incredible world. Incredible place. [Murph: yep!] Check out all of the incredible environs there. Murph: Yeah. Check it out. Uh- You can follow us on, uh-- Emily: Bahumia. Murph: You can follow us on social media that we may or may not use. @ chmurph's me, @ caldy's Caldwell, @ eaxford's Emily-- [Emily: @ bahumia] -- @ jakehurwitz is Jake-- Jake: I'm actually-- I'm actually @ bahumia. Murph: Follow our campaigns on Bahumia-- Emily: I'm also @ bahumia. Murph: I don't think you are. And you can tweet about the show using #naddpod that's N-A-D-D-P-O-D. [They sing "We are, We are" as the audio fades out, but Caldwell and Jake replace the words with "Bahumia"]
axford going "ok calliope wants to hook up with someone can i scan the room. im only interested in people we've never met or seen before." firstly an insane thing to do to a DM but a very funny thing to do to your spouse so murph would have to on the spot mine the depths of either callie's type (glen) or his wife's (unfathomable) for random npcs. and the options he comes up with are 1) reedy long silver hair guy with a guitar 2) goth girl emo bangs 3) ripped and tatted up orc woman. i don't even know what to say. she didn't even hook up with any of them. she went and played cards with kenna
you guys seem to love krudbert so much (i have been hearing about him since like the week i started naddpod) that i didn't really know what to expect when i got to the pathfinder two shot but it certainly wasn't without a doubt the most discworld party these guys have ever come up with. like textbook. goblin too nice for his death cult. tree farmer turned pinch hitter. incomprehensible 40 yr old lvl 1 wizard. i do get it krudbert and his kind eyes are that iconic but i feel like im seeing emily axford's take on a discworld unseen university wizard and we need to lock in
ice knife saga 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾 naddpod does family dynamics surprisingly well considering that its audio only improv and also the improv is run by four people who can't shut up about star fox 64 (can't blame them) but the extremely well developed kilde brothers dynamic combo with the weird atmospheric arctic horror/alien invasion vibe is well. dare i say peak
hi! was there a certain point of the nadpodd strahd campaign where it clicked for you? i love nadpodd but also don’t get a lot of their references. so far strahd is using enough cultural refs to full house that i’m having less fun than normal.
also! i’m considering relistening to campaign one- did you find it the patreon eps worthwhile?
sorry for false advertising 🙇🏾♀️ i haven't actually listened to more than a few episodes of trinyvale strahd. i checked out a bit of it last year because i'm running strahd myself and thought it would be funny to see what they did with it...and it was lmao, but im listening to naddpod in order and im still on the back half of c3. in the same way I haven't heard the early short rests bc i just got on the patreon like a few months ago but from where i am rn it's worth it :)
i do actually get most of their references because of my older sibling's insane knowledge bank on 2000s nerd culture but whenever they get too caucasian about it (aka just nu metal and hit sitcom friends) im equally lost. i think that the nature of trinyvale has morphed and self flanderized to the point of like. the listener now has to accept the reality of the story they are hearing on a baseline but they also have to accept the oily film of delusion that is whatever the triplets think is actually happening. i.e. strahd is the manager of the white lotus hotel and part of that is actually a little true due to caldwell's "yes and" nature. and it is awesome but i can see why it's probably harder to deal with in a full mini campaign as opposed to a one or two shot

[Bahumia theme fades out.] Murph: WEL-come back to Bahumia everybody! Jake, Emily, and Caldwell: Ba-HU-mia! Murph: I'm your dungeon master (laughing) Brian Murphy, joined by Jake Hurwitz-- [Clip cuts forward. Emily, Jake, and Caldwell are laughing.] Murph: Uh, sweet guys, uh, why don't we go ahead and do a little recap? Caldwell and Jake: Yes please. Emily, enthusiastically: Ok Murph! [Caldwell and Jake laugh.] Murph: This was-- you're bringing off-mic bits onto mic. [Emily laughs.] When we-- Caldwell: You're bridging the bit! Murph: Yeah. The reason I was-- Jake: Sorry about that, Murph! Murph: The reason I was laughing-- Emily: (laughing harder) Sorry about that, Murph! Murph: You-- We can't all talk over each other-- Caldwell: It's okay, Murphs! Murph: We all have to calm down (laughing) and let each other speak. Caldwell: Everyone let Murph speak! Murph: That has to happen! Jake: Go ahead, Murph! [Emily is still laughing. She laughs harder.] Murph: Ok-- Thanks guys. (laughing) I-- haven't described what you're doing. [The others laughing.] Right before we started everyone just kept being really polite, but in a way that was not letting me start the recording. Any time I said "we're about to-- let's get started" they would go "ok Murph!" "let's go Murph!" "ready to go Murph!" Emily: I remember that, Murph! Murph: Yeah. Jake: Yeah. Sorry about interrupting you, Murph! Murph: Well the people at home didn't remember it, cause they didn't know. We have to tell them what's going on. (laughing) We can't just say shit. Caldwell: We should do a recap before the recap, Murphs. [Emily laughs.] Murph: Yeah, this is the pre- (laughing) the pre-show recap of the stupid fucking bits you guys do. [The others laugh.] Jake: Well put, Murph! Murph: Yeah this is why I was laughing when I said my name. Emily: (cackles) Touché, Murph! Murph: Okay guys. Uh, let's go ahead and do the real recap. Caldwell, whispering: Sounds good Murph! [Emily and Jake laugh.] Murph: So last time, you guys began-- (laughs). You have to stop. You have to stop. Emily: That was-- Caldwell's one was really good at the end. Murph, over her: So last time, last time, you guys began in Ma Goblin's moving lab [clip fades out].
