I'll admit that I don't plan on coming out to my parents until I have enough money to live on my own (yk, bc my parents are rly homophobic), but I've watched several videos of how to come out to closer ppl, and the first thing you need is to feel comfortable with yourself, and also keep in mind that they might not have the reaction you were expecting, so before anything, try talking about something related to the queer community and see how they react, based on that reaction you should be able to tell if they're homophobic or not (but in some cases you will already know it)

there are usually 3 options

1. They seem to be okay with queer ppl in general: in that case I'd say it's probably safe to come out, and I say you should go for it whenever you feel ready, but remember to not pressure yourself

2. They seem neutral about it, or you really can't tell what's their side: in this case you should try being more careful, they could still give you a bad reaction, but it's always worth trying, if things go south you should have a backup plan

3. They seem to be hateful towards queer ppl: (this is my case) unfortunately the best thing you could do here is wait until you can afford your own living, because some parents could have really harsh reactions, they could possibly kick you out or send you to conversion therapy (which unfortunately is still legal in some places) but if you really want to come out, despite how homophobic your parents are, you must have somewhere (like a close relative or friends house) you could go to

when the time comes you'll likely feel very nervous, which is completely normal, just remember that I'm here if you need any help with something specific, I'm not a pro or anything but I always do my best
