Like don't ya'll think if she knew the context of the plot she'd put things on hold to support Kris and Susie, if not try to handle the situation herself? Only relenting when she's informed they've got "Chosen One" status and have to do the Deltarune?

And on the other side of things, OF COURSE Kris is allowed to feel upset and embarrassed! They're a teenager dealing with the divorce and their older brother leaving the nest too! It's incredibly common for children of divorce to hold onto hope that their parents will get back together, even if the marriage was as toxic as Toriel and Asgore's!

Toriel isn't a bad parent for moving things along in her personal life and Kris isn't a bad kid for holding onto a wish for resolution and being embarrassed she got tipsy! If anything the entire scene is extremely good at making them actual "people" as characters. They have so much depth- and Toby is a master of writing characters that seem like this!
