He pulls his hand away, leaving his sweaty hair askew, and that's when Mel sees it: an off-color oval, nestled into the base of his skull. Her heart drops. "You told me you didn't have a soulmark anymore."

~~~
Langdon's soulmate marks come and go, leading him from Abby to Robby and eventually to Mel, who never expected to have a soulmate and has to learn how.
giving increasingly loud sighs as I wait for my crush to ask "what's wrong?" so I can say I'm in a state of depression unless I can touch someone's boobs with no bra
I stop once I start getting short of breath
[Your crush, on the phone to someone unseen] Yeah I think she needs to be put down, her breathing-- yeah I know it can be a problem for her breed, but it's getting really bad.
I'M NOT A DOG??????
[clearly less interested now] Oh.
wait! au au
[walking over the distant horizon, towards the West]
AU AU!!! AU AU!!!!! 😭
Fanfic writers, reblog if you’re okay with people sharing the links to your fics to their friends and/or for fic rec posts without having to ask for your permission first
(I saw a debate about whether or not it was okay for people to share fic links around without asking the authors first, since some authors may not be comfortable with the links to their fics being shared around on twitter or tumblr. so I thought this post could be a blanket permission for authors who were okay with the links to their fics being shared around!)
Okay so Kingdon recap of the Season 2 scripts Part 2!
Find Part 1 here, with full details of where the scripts are from
Let's finish up the highlight reel in chronological order
  • When Dana calls Frank over to assist with Becca he says "need something?" and in all caps Mel says "YES"
  • "Mel stands at the door as Langdon sits at Becca’s beside. He’s gentle and attentive" HELLO??? He's gentle and attentive???
  • When Frank asks Mel to dim the lights when she leaves the room she is "pleased"
  • The script has Frank telling Mel that Becca is "in good hands" BUT did not have the line from the episode of Mel replying "I know"
  • The script has Becca telling Frank "Mel says lots of nice things about you" but initally has Frank and Perlah sharing a smile versus the little smile that Frank does afterwards so they intentionally changed it to make it about him being flattered
  • In the episode we get this lovely moment of Mel being taken aback and confused with Frank asking about her, and while the dialogue is the same in the script, there's no direction or notes about her acting like that or stammering
  • When Becca tells Mel that she can "see why you like him" the script says "Mel blushes. Slightly embarrassed"
  • In the episode, when Mel is getting upset with Becca, Frank says "Dr. King, why don't you get some air?" but in the script the line was "Why don’t you get some air, Dr. King? And I’ll stay with Becca"
  • The ambulance bay scene dialogue was basically exactly what we saw in the finished episode, and there were no interesting directions or other notes
  • After Frank feels like he made a mistake with Grady (the kid with asthma) we have the direction notes of "unnoticed, Langdon slips out the door and Mel picks up on his funk" and "Mel moves to throw out her gloves and looks out the trauma doors, watching Langdon disappear into the North Corridor"
  • In the break room the script has Mel saying "We don’t always get everything right immediately" while we get "we don't always get everything right the first time" in the episode
  • After the Kelly Clarkson joke they are "sharing a much needed smile"
  • After the final scene with Grady we get this incredibly buzzy moment of Mel and Frank leaving the room together while looking at each other, which was not in the script!!
  • What we get is "Off Langdon, heading out to Central and not feeling on top of his game" they intentionally decided to make a change to have the two of them leaving together happily, rather than Frank leaving by himself dejected
  • Then we get to the finale ambulance bay scene, which is very very different in the script. We know from a still that there was a high five that ended up getting cut, but the original script didn't even have them standing and watching fireworks together
  • The ambulance bay scene starts with Frank walking outside and seeing that Mel is sitting in the back of an ambulance (think the Rollins s1 scene)
  • Frank asks if Mel is staying for fireworks, and she tells him that she was supposed to watch them with Becca, but now Becca's watching them with Adam, and then Frank sits down next to her in the ambulance
  • They have a slightly more condensed version of the conversation that happens in the episode, and after "I could have paralyzed that guy" "but you didn't" "no I didn't" there's the direction "She offers a high five. He offers a fist. They both adjust to the other. Well, it was the thought that counts" what do you mean "they both adjust to the other"
  • Then the scene ends with the note "and as they sit in silence..."
Okay I'll be making gifs of the various scenes I was able to transcribe. I only had two hours there, and while we were allowed to take notes, pictures weren't allowed so I went for the Kingdon scenes and was typing as fast as I could (shout out to my mom who made me learn how to touch type and do typing games)
  • During the pilot as Frank and Collins are arguing she said "It’s truly a mystery how you’re still married"
  • The start of the STEMI is described as "Langdon passes, grabbing Mel in the process"
  • When Santos tells Mel that her and Langdon appear to be hitting it off the scripts says "Mel is secretly pleased to hear this"
  • When Mel sees that Terrance's charts say that he's autistic and she offers to go talk to him the script says "Langdon leaves as Mel continues scrolling. Off Mel, determined to prove herself…"
  • As Frank is initially watching Mel talk to Terrance "Mel exits and Langdon watches her, impressed"
  • And during the infamous staring scene "Mel has a model of the ankle and foot bones, indicating to Terrance as she talks. Langdon watches"
  • Instead of "you're making a great first impression" the scripts had "you've made a great first impression"
  • When Frank tells Mel that she needs to go take a break "Mel gets it and is grateful"
  • There's the now famous "Langdon smiles. He’s good when he wants to be" during the break room scene
  • From 1x12: Mel is squeezing in the blood as they go, surprised and happy to see Langdon as he finishes sewing in a chest tube on MCI-38, a Male with a chest wound
There's more, but I'm gonna try to get them all formally typed up since I was doing shorthand in the notes app
