...and as we stepped into the dark and musty basement, my flashlight beam fell upon a pile of skeletal remains of all species. Then came the sound, that horrible sound of thousands of small feet shuffling from throughout the abandoned house toward the basement where we three stood huddled together. And we watched as a wave of spiders of all sizes and varieties poured out of the darkness and onto a human skeleton bathed in my thin beam of light. They began to spin webs around it, encasing it and their brethren closest to the bones in grey/white gossamer threads. Layer after layer of spiders and webbing, quickly taking on a familiar shape, human muscles on on dead bone. And soon before us lay a frighteningly beautiful humanoid that suddenly, smoothly rose to its feet! The dead web creature turned to us and parted its silky lips and spoke is a voice so perfectly human... and yet so horribly not... "What fools seek the council of the Mistress of Spiders?"
So Disney is buying Marvel. Fans panic around the world. "OMG Disney is going to do ________ to Marvel!" One guy posted on another site that "They can't change Marvel! Marvel has to be DARK!" Time to throw in my two cents. I do not thing Disney will change Marvel much if at all. They Bought it because they have researched it as it is and want the built in existing fanbase.
But Goddess I wish they would. I realize that the current Marvel Zombies like the Marvel Universe the dark depressing way that it is. But I have not been a fan of Marvel in years. I can even tell you when the descent into darkness began in my opinion: The Mutant Massacre storyline in the X-Books. But I guess I am just an old soul that remembers the Marvel of my youth. A Marvel full of heroism, hope and honor. It was a Marvel where the Punisher was rightfully considered a villain for killing people. A Marvel where characters prone to berzerker rages try to control them and not revel in them. A Marvel where Peter Parker would never have made a deal with the devil. A Marvel where the Hulk was a child like innocent hero. A Marvel where the X-Men were a team of heroes fighting for the dream off all people living together in peace rather than being a murderous band of thugs fighting a turf war amongst themselves. A Marvel were Victor von Doom and Magneto were noble adversaries of the heroes with honorable codes of their own. I could go on for hours. I miss the old days and want them back so bad. But I do not see that happening so Marvel Zombies chill out. You Marvel is most likely safe. But this old member of the Merry Marvel Marching Society will keep hoping for a return to his Marvel. The Marvel of heroes.
Where I work as the main switchboard operator I have 4 other people that share the communications office with me. My daytime backup op/ appointment setter who is a young black lesbian. My evening backup op who is a fellow gay may in his 40s. The primary referral person/ appointment setter, another young lesbian. The evening referral person/ appointment setter, a early 40s straight lady.
Would you believe me and the STRAIGHT girl are the only two NOT voting for McCain/Palin? What the fuck is up with that?!?!?!?!!?!?
Well we went to see "Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" today. No spoilers here, but my advice is to wait till it hits DVD. Or at least keep telling yourself that it has nothing to do with the first two.
A yahoo group I am in had a discussion of what big bads would you like to see in the next Batman film.
Maybe far fetched, but here is what I would like to see:
In the underworld power vacuum that has come out of the Jokers machinations and the work of the (supposedly) late great Harvey Dent and Commissioner Gordon, a few new crime heads have risen to power and have brought chaos to Gotham with an all out power struggle between them. The three main ones I would use are Black Mask, Ventriloquist and Maxie Zeus. You could even add Penquin and Hugo Strange into the story line but that could get even more confusing.
