Title: Woolgathering

Notes: Taken from the prompt: 2014 verse, Claire walks into camp Chitaqua with her uncle Jacob (from Stonehenge Apocalypse). I tried to get in some hints at Dean/Claire friendship and Jimmy the unsung hero. Thanks to tawg for the beta.
Warnings: canon and minor character death, incest, angst
Summary: Claire shows up on Jacob's doorstep with a shot gun slung over her shoulder. Left there by Castiel, she brings word of the end of the world to Jacob and leads him across country to Camp Chitaqua, where both of them hope to find a good enough replacement for Jimmy.

Something is tapping on Jacob's window, a low rhythmic thud that breaks through his sleep in degrees. Jacob stares at the shadows in the corner of the room for a moment, his gaze flicks to the clock that says 4am, and then sharp realization floods through him. Adrenaline stiffens his body and quickens his heart before he scrambles out of the bed.

There's Jimmy, crouching at the narrow basement window, pale face staring inside. Jacob opens it and Jimmy shimmies through, Jacob wrapping his arms around Jimmy's torso to pull him in and keep him from falling. Jimmy usually falls. Jimmy is usually hurt or exhausted or starving. This time he seems fine.

He stands under his own power and there's no scent of blood to fill the air but he doesn't shift back and Jacob doesn't take his arms away. Not when Jimmy's face is pressing against his chest and Jacob can feel a wetness on his skin though Jimmy is as still and quiet as stone. Jacob tightens his grip.

Sometimes taking care of Jimmy doesn't require very much at all.

Sometimes Simon thinks he studied to be a healer just to keep his sister out of danger the best he could. Because Simon wasn't much of a fighter or a rider or even a tracker like the rangers. And River was all of those things and stubborn enough not to be left out just because she was a woman which saw her coming home more often than not with some great tale to tell and some injury to go along with it.

Simon has no great tales to speak of. E^en the war had seen him remaining in the Houses of Healing while his sister had picked up a blade and gone into battle (and he's never been more relieved in his life to see her walk through the doors unharmed and throwing her arms around him in their triumph). So he has no idea why when the new King Elessar decides to teach someone his ancient ways of healing, he picks Simon.

A moment of shock and Simon bows lowly in gratitude for the honour and hours are spent in the weeks following, being as gracious and curteous as he can while Elessar teaches Simon things he had heard about only in passing songs mostly forgotten. Simon is certain it's going well until he catches the King sighing, perhaps in boredom or frustration and Simon wonders what he did wrong.

“My Lord?” Simon questions, expecting to be berated for some slight. He doesn't expect the king to claim that Simon needs to get out and find some enjoyment (has he been talking to River who always tells him the same?) and Elessar as well, before the smell of the herbs goes to their heads.

Elessar takes them to a rough scale tavern, Simon following bemused. Simon has much less of a head for ale than he has for herbs.

Though Simon supposes that when he wakes the following morning in the King's chambers with the King still at his side and the Queen smiling down on him and offering medicine to sooth his headache, he finally has a great tale to tell. But he thinks he might be keeping this one to himself after all.

For caz2y5 who wanted Castiel with either Faramir or Eomer (from Lord of the Rings). I picked Faramir, of course! The word was 'long' but...that didn't happen. The word is in there though! So it counts.

These days myths and legends walk out of the woods nigh on every day. Things told of only in song or tale and maybe even things not told of at all.

Through darkness Faramir sees the outline of a great span of wings. The tips curve and the long pinions touch his booted feet and Faramir gasps and flinches back. A pulse of blood spills over his fingers where he grasps at his side and the knife wound there. The Orc lays slain somewhere in the trees. Others are already driven off. Faramir can hear his men nearby but not near enough.

The thing in front of him moves without sound and it seems to rob Faramir of any he might make for he cannot call his men to help. It's in fear and awe that he holds his breath as the creature reaches through the darkness to his face. A man! Faramir thinks. A man with wings unheard of in legend. Unthinking, he arches his head to the reaching fingers and they graze along his cheek and light and goodness that he had forgotten spill through him.

He can see again, the darkness seems not as thick, the moon is visible from behind the clouds. The wound at his side is gone, the blood is cleaned from his hand. Faramir blinks, sees a vision of blue eyes and an almost smile and black-blue wings. He still dares not breathe but shallowly. But his men call loud from the trees and the creature beats its wings once and is gone.

Perhaps all is not dark.

Angel learns a lot of important things during the first few days at Wolfram & Hart. One of those things? Don't try to sound out a strange language from an unknown book and if you do, don't be surprised when what looks a lot like a tax accountant or a low rent lawyer materializes in the room.

The tax accountant looks just as surprised to be standing there, blinking at Angel and then down at himself before frowning in annoyance. Angel wonders if he somehow managed to teleport the man in from one of the other level's of the building and how cool would that be? He looks like he could work here and he's got this buzz about him, something unassuming but powerful. Did this guy sing for Lorne yet?

“Who are you?” Angel demands and sharp blue eyes cut from the swords decorating the wall behind him to Angel's face.

“Castiel. I'm an angel of the Lord,” the man answers dismissively before shifting away, trailing about the room and touching this or that with careful fingertips like he can devise their history that way.

“Oh.” Well, that explains nothing but Angel doesn't feel inclined to question the power that still radiates off this...angel. Or whatever. “Um. Angel,” he introduces himself the same way and Castiel turns back to him with a tilt of his head. “CEO of an evil multidimensional law firm?”

“Interesting.”

And Angel gets the uncomfortable feeling he's now garnered the interest of something he doesn't ever want to mess with. Wesley is going to kill him for touching the books.

Richard doesn't find Misha very attractive. Sure, Richard can take a step back and objectively say “Now that guy is hot” but he doesn't want to roll around with Misha in bed or anywhere else. Misha is a good friend. Misha is not a guy he wants to fuck.

Castiel...is a guy he wants to fuck.

Maybe it's the voice or the trench coat or the tie. He makes Castiel beg, leaves his trench coat on so it fans around him like wings, wraps the tie in his hand and uses it to hold Castiel in place. Castiel does whatever he wants and is careful never to call him Gabriel.

When they're done, they stare across at each other in the entry hall they never made it past, and Castiel grins at him. Richard sighs. Misha always breaks character and Richard has to reach forward to tug the trench coat closed.

He just doesn't want to fuck Misha.
