The check-out lane at Target was not the best place to bring up the idea of starting a family. But when she saw that her husband had put a large package of condoms in the bottom of the shopping cart, she realized it was time that she let him know what was on her mind.

It was supposed to be a quick trip for all the things they would need if they got snowed in tomorrow. The weatherman was predicting a full foot of snow and as luck would have it, they both had the same day off. So there were quick non-perishable food items like canned soup and spaghetti, an extra ice scraper because she couldn’t remember where she left hers after last winter, and a new pair of gloves for him. And the condoms. When he noticed her looking at the Trojan package, he grinned. “Just in case we get bored tomorrow,” he said with a gleam in his eye.

She grabbed the condoms and handed them to the cashier. “I don’t think we’ll be needing this,” she said, ignoring the surprised look on her husband’s face.
