Got in first class that was awesome and comfortable, funny though because it’s all old white men and then me, the guy next to me was cool though and I told him about AB had him take a listen from my laptop and lets just say a new fan is born.
We get to the venue at 1:00 and there is already a group of five guys out there waiting in line. Mind you I am already cold because it was like 30 or so and there was snow everywhere. The venue was right across from Ohio State University so I felt right at home because it was a college area. We make friends with the guys out there and tell them our plan that they get in front of Tremonti and we get in front of Myles, which they were fine with. I was just so excited to see three bands that I really enjoy all in one show. They held our spot in line while we got some food. Later on we went back to the car for some reason and when we were walking back Sara spots Mark so we say hello and talk for a bit I was like we should make a snowman, and he’s like “well this is good packing snow” and I was like “see let’s make a snowman” but he’s like “I got to go finish writing this solo I have 2 hours.” We were like all right, and I remarked that his shoes were looking worn and he’s like “yeah I need a new pair.” So if anyone wants to spend like $70 on Mark I suggest a size 11 in a certain addidas. Then we were walking back to the line and we see Flip so we talk to him for a bit see Chris come around the corner and flag him down and then Flip asks if there is a Starbucks around we’re like yeah just around that corner there. And he’s like “see ya.” LOL. The guys in line were standing on the corner and I was trying to motion to them that is was Flip but they didn’t get it so we told them that they really needed to go to Starbucks. We hold their spot in line and they come back all excited with Starbucks cups in there hands.
Wait around some more, freezing, had a run in with a crazy homeless man LOL “you need a haircut” Chris. One of the Silvertide guys gets dropped off in a car and I go “are you wearing your own shirt” and he’s like “well it’s a free sweatshirt and it’s cold out”, hehehe he seemed a little embarrassed. Everyone was laughing at me for that one. Then Nick (Silvertide guitarist) comes out on his cell phone and some fans stop him and he’s gets off the line and is like “I was talking with my mom.” He asks if there is a guitar store around and we’re like yeah right there, literally next door, convenient. He comes back out with a new wah pedal I guess he broke his the night before. We see Mark head for Subway and lots of people following him in. We meet this one guy that travels with his wife to the shows and he tells us about the parking situation, so Sara and me go back to check on her car and well ticket $33. On the way back I see Michael out back talking on the phone we wait for him to get off and then I give him a hug and say thank you, we talk for a bit, Mark comes back and Sara is like “do you have $33?” and he’s like “yeah why?”, “because I just got a parking ticket.” LOL we were like we saw you getting mobbed in Subway and he’s like nah it was cool they had some guitar questions. Found out that he finished the solo it was for that Michael Angelo cd. He heads inside. Told Michael that Julia and Chris were there and he’s like “ok I’m going to put 4 passes under your name make sure they get them,” and I’m like what because I wouldn’t give them to them hahaha. He tells us about the Broken Wings video and how much we are going to love it I for one cannot wait to see it from how Michael was describing it, I guess it focuses a lot on Myles because they can take the focus to the singer and off the guitarist for a bit and it’ll also help differentiate them from the previous band in my opinion, the more Myles you see the less likely you are to think it is C*** ya know. Michael goes to round up the guys for sound check, so we head back for the line and fill everyone in. we freeze for a bit and listen ion on the sound check from outside, bummer and freezer. Cameras were ok so we were all excited about that one.
After sound check was over I went out back checked on the car, then when walking back saw some of the Submersed guys talking with fans so I stopped to chat, Eric comes out and I got to talk with him then we all went on the bus I felt bad about leaving everyone in line but it was a warm bus and I was freezing. Got the bus tour, listened to a rough recording of The Rescue while TJ is jamming on the guitar along with the song, it sounded great I like the rough recording because it sounds closer to the live show, great stuff. Then go to the back with Eric and Garrett and hang out there for a bit and then Garrett left and it was just me and Eric listening to music and stuff on his computer, which is basically the huge version of my computer. It was really fun, got to get to know Eric a little better and well he rocks. We were all back there in our own little world when his phone rings and we find out he was late for sound check eek hahaha so we run up to the front put on all our jackets to brave the weather and head out I was just thinking oh man how long was I in there? I felt so bad. Head back to the line, which is now longer, and it’s darker out and icky colder. Julia and Chris are all like where were you? And I was like umm I ran into Eric and I was on the Submersed bus. Then I was all freezing and Chris was like don’t even you were just all nice and warm on the Submersed bus.
Finally doors open a little late, everyone was blaming me for making Eric late for sound check hehehe sorry but I so bet that wasn’t the reason the doors opened late. I head over to will call and get my ticket and 4 passes I felt all cool stuffing 4 passes in my purse. Meanwhile everyone is passing me from the line so I’m just hoping Julia and everyone get up front so we have a good spot. I rush by the ticket guy and people in line are trying to stop me I’m like fuck that, hand him my ticket thing and head in the venue. Say hi to Randy, he had informed me earlier that they were able to fit in all their equipment so the sound should be great. I see Julia and Sara up front and I’m like umm where’s Chris? Then we see him heading over saved a spot in between us and it worked out perfect, Julia on the left then Chris then me then Sara all dead center with Sara closer to Mark like she wanted and the guys that were in line with us in front of Mark like they wanted. We get all of our stuff situated take off jackets and then Submersed takes the stage and rocks it! Eric kept coming over and putting on a show for us and then pointing down at me, Chris was like “someone likes you” pretty sure I hit him for that, he is trouble that one LOL, Donald came over and we sang some lyrics to each other, TJ rocking out in front of us too, great show. Took some kick ass video during the Rescue towards the end where it is just going nuts and Eric comes over and rocks out for my camera, it was great!! After their set stupid me decides to play around with my camera and I’m looking through some of the pictures I’d taken and went to delete the ones that didn’t turn out, scroll over press delete and it deletes the video so I am like flipping out trying to get it back but there’s no way, they really need to make cameras that do that. Chris is just like well it’s already done there is nothing you can do about it there are good things to come and I’m just like ok can they come back onstage and do that song again real quick.
Silvertide is next and I’m excited because I really like them I bought their CD and it is just stuck in my head. Go crazy for them take some pictures and some video during ”Ain’t Coming Home” rocking out to SFC, I really love that song, and they get so into it and it gets me into that is just one of those songs that I am so feeling right now it’s just lets you release some anger and stuff, great.
The lights got out and we’re all getting excited like yay Alter Bridge and we’re all going to see Myles together, this is going to be so fun!! They come out Myles see us all up front gets a huge grin on his face and comes over and shakes all our hands, got a great picture of that hehehe. Proceeds into the show where he is rocking out sounding amazing and looks like he is having so much fun, and he is thanking us by continuously smiling and coming over and like showing off in front of us, it was amazing! We keep looking over at each other like hell yeah!! Mark kept making faces at me. Brian gave me a little wave and kind of seemed confused lol more on that later. I’m just taking picture and took like three video clips. I got all of Sweet Emotion oh yeah!! Rock n Roll was the shit!! They were really into that it was awesome. They played some Purple Rain, well tried to anyway lol Myles was looking over at Mark who proceeded to feed him the lines and Myles would repeat them and then he looks to Mark and Mark gives this look like you’re SOL and Myles does some lalalalala and then the chorus hahaha. Then he did his little Stairway to Heaven jam. His mic kept falling down and he’s like “my mic keeps going flaccid on me, you know who doesn’t have that problem” he looks at Flip. LOL says something like “no teasing Flip is the man.” Then later on when his mic fell down to his crotch he ‘s like “I don’t think that part of my body can sing too well” hahahaha. During DTML Mark moved back and his guitar came unplugged, luckily it was during one of the parts when Myles was playing but it was really funny, ah the look on his face. Myles mentioned that this was actually the same venue where he had first met these guys when he was playing with Mayfield Four. That was an interesting tidbit. Amazing show didn’t want it to end. When it did the guys all came up front Myles thanked all of us again and clasped our hands I was like see you later and he’s like ok cool. Mark was coming by on the right and Brian was coming by on the left Mark kind of shook my hand then Brian came over and bends down and gives me a hug, I was just like awww how much does Brian rock!
The crowd slowly fizzled out after everyone had whatever set list or dropped guitar pick. We gather up our goods and put on our jackets because the door was open and it was cold. Head for the restrooms put on our passes. Julia and Chris are over in the aftershow area me and Sara went to talk to Eric. Told him how much I was hitting myself for deleting my awesome video of him and he’s like that would have been cool to see video and luckily Sara took some too which she showed him from her camera. So we head down to the aftershow and Julia and Chris already have Myles talking so we come up and he smiles at me and says “great to see you again Jordan” and gives me a nice big hug. Chris busts out with the musical questions so that was pretty much the conversation musical influences, Myles’ music etc. interesting stuff, Chris needs to write that out because some of it was over my head or I zoned out as I do sometimes because there was so much going on around us, I’m a spaz. We took some pictures with Myles and all three of us and then I got one with just me and him and I was like show some teeth act like you don’t hate me so he has like this huge grin on his face. (Funny side note I am at the airport and they just called “passenger Scott Phillips” and so I’m laughing right now and no one else seems to get it) Ok back to the story, so we are standing there talking to Myles and all of a sudden someone does that hit you in the back of the knee thing I turn around to see Flip like trying to look like he didn’t do it. I was like “what was that? Are you starting shit, I can take you,” all laughing and joking around, and he’s just laughing at me, he is too funny that one. Mark is near us so me and Sara turn to talk to him and I tell him how honored I was to meet his wife and how she rocks and then took a funny picture with him, and he’s all like hold on let me flex LOL. Talk to Mark for a bit then the search is on for Brian. Find him hiding and he’s like “hey I know you! During the show I was like I know that girl from somewhere and then I tried to think about it and then I played some wrong notes.” LOL too funny. I was like “well I have one picture left and it’s got to be with you” and he’s like cool so we take the picture and he’s like “I have that camera but I don’t really use it.” So I show him some of the pictures and he’s like “that takes great pictures what do you have it set on?” And I show him how I have it programmed for concerts and he’s like “after this can you set mine like that” and I’m like sure of course! He tells us what bar they are going to be at etc… and is like well I will see you later, and heads out. Unfortunately I never got to help him out with the camera, sorry Brian.
Get my poster from Julia to have Myles personalize it and give him the picture and cd of pictures I made him. He thought that was great. Then we started talking about Citizen Swing and how he did not write any of the lyrics from the 1st cd and he’s like they were horrible and he starts singing some of it hahaha and he’s like “could you spread that around for me,” we’re like we’d be glad to. MYLES DID NOT WRITE THE LYRICS FOR THE FIRST CITIZEN SWING CD. hahaha Chris points out the difference in the two Citizen Swing albums and asks if that’s when Myles decided to focus on vocals instead of guitar and he’s like “that is really funny you got it. That was at the point where I had just done that guitar contest and I was like you know I’ve done just about everything I want to do with guitar and I decided to do more vocal work.” Chris mentions All the Same and of course I’m like I love that song it is so Buckley and he’s like “that was actually about the time that I first started listening to Buckley.” So I asked if he had the dvd because if not I’d give him mine and he’s like “no way, which one is it?” So I describe it and he’s like “actually I think that is the one I have.”
I was like “so I hear you have a MAC what kind” and he’s like “a powerbook G4” and I’m like “no way I just got the powerbook G4 12”!” and he has the 12” too LOL. Talked about how much we love it and will never use PC again. I ask Myles to name mine and he replies really quick with “Junior because it is so small,” so I am typing this on Junior right now hahahaha gotta love it. I hit him for not meeting Stevie Wonder and he’s like “my wife was mad at me for that too, I know it was horrible I froze” and he’s like, “well I did wave at him but he didn’t wave back” and I’m like oh that’s horrible Myles hahaha But he is kind of glad because I guess he has met people in the past that turned out to be jerks so he likes to keep them at a higher level in his mind so that it doesn’t ruin the music, I can understand that, but Stevie Wonder. Michael comes over and tells us that they actually played some Stevie at the last show and I was like WHAT? I missed that!! They should’ve done that today!. We tell him about Nags going to be at the WI show and he’s like “all right I’ll try to remember to come up to him” and he did remember him from the crowd in Chicago so yay for Nags. He gave us all our hugs and said goodbyes and Julia and Sara said see you in like 2 days and I said see you in while I don’t know when, then I got all sad because it hit me that my night was almost over. Then he ran out to head for the bus. We stopped and talked to Flip for a while and he was telling us to go to that bar and I was like it better not card because I’m 20 and he’s like “you’ll be fine you look 21.” I got him back for the knee thing, Chris talked some music with him again most of it over my head but interesting. Then he mentions something and he goes “not with this band” and I was just thinking how it didn’t even occur to me that these guys were in C*** is that weird or what I almost wanted to say oh yeah Flip I forgot you were in C*** (because I never got into the music or had anything to do with it really) but that would’ve been kind of weird. Flip just rocks. Then he runs off somewhere we head out to put our things in the car. It is FREEZING and snowing and Myles is still out being mobbed by fans, me and Sara run for the car because it’s so cold, and I throw my stuff in and go running for the Submersed bus because it was the nearest warm spot and Julia and Chris are like “where are you going? We’re right here.” And I’m like “meet me on the Submersed bus it is my warm stop on the way to the bar.”
So I hop in there and see all the spots in the front taken up and Mark is standing in between the tables and they are all watching Anchorman hahaha so I just sit by the door where I can’t see the tv and just chill for a bit then I hear a knock and open the door for Sara who climbs in and sees Mark so I’m like “oh you’re glad you came on here now aren’t you.” She smiles and nods. I call Eric and I’m like “where are you?” and he’s like “in the back of the bus where are you?” ‘In the front of the bus hahaha hold on I’ll come back.” I pass by Mark and he’s like “hey what are you doing?” I’m like, “Going to the back what are you doing?” hahaha Mark comes back looking for a quiet spot to talk on his phone and then hangs out in the bunks to finish his conversation. Then he comes back and sits down, then takes the guitar from Eric and sits to my right and starts jamming and then Michael comes back and he’s like “hey Jordan,” sits down and says “your hearing stuff from the next album,” Marks starts singing something along with the guitar and I’m just watching his guitar faces hahaha.
Donald comes back and is like “um your friends are up in the front” and I’m like “ok well they can come back here if they want, thank you for letting me know.” Mark gets a call and heads out for the bar invites us all out Eric’s like “well we can’t go’ and Mark’s like “nah you’re fine the bar closed and it’s only open for us,” we’re like cool. Then we head out and Michael is up front with Julia, Chris and Sara and Donald, and he tells us that they have a leave time of 1:30 and we look at the clock like yeah it’s not worth like 20 minutes. So Michael heads out to round everyone up. We say thanks to Donald for letting us hang out in the bus and being such a sweetheart give him a hug and tell him to take care. Eric walks us out and Michael is still out there talking with someone and then he goes to take off so we say goodbye to him. We talk about going to get some food and Eric tells us a funny story about being left at a Flying-J. Poor Eric. Then Julia, Chris and Sara say goodbye to Eric and start walking towards the car didn’t realize that. I give him a big hug and say I don’t know when I’ll see you again, hopefully soon. Then I turn and start making for the car and I realize that they are all almost there lol so I start walking faster. Then Julia scrapes down the car (it was covered in snow) and we trade some stories of what just happened and head out to look for food. We end up at White Castle because it is the only 24-hour place you can sit inside that we can find. I’m excited because I’ve never been to a White Castle well that soon faded hahaha eewwww the food was gross but hey at least I can say I tried it right. We sat around and showed each other our pictures from the night and talked some more and then we took Chris back to his car and said goodbye. Then it was back to the hotel for some shut eye and than a morning of rush packing for me and then Julia and Sara drove me to the airport and we said goodbye and hopefully we’ll be able to do this again and I told Sara to take care of the Submersed guys for the next two nights , lucky girl. Ok that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
