Ah, Requiem! I love the movie. But, I haven't read the book. Is it really worth it? I guess that it helps you understand the movie better... but is it as catchy as the movie itself? I've never even heard of the author "Hubert Selby Jr.", so I couldn't really guess if he's a good writer, haha.
And a question about the movie- I've seen it 3 times, but I still don't understand the very beginning. What's up with Harry locking his mom in the closet? I don't get how he "sells" the television set, at all. Could someone please explain that part to me?? Thanks!

Since no one has posted anything new in quite a while, I was just curious to know as to how many people read the book before they saw the movie? I reacted so much differently to both. I read the book before I saw the movie, and I imagined the charachters pretty true to how they were portrayed in the movie, the book evoked more...understanding, and sadness. And when I saw the movie I was mostly shocked and intruiged by the filming. I thought it was really beautiful, and I loved the split screen. It was so gritty. I just felt like the novel was more...Brooklyn. I felt more Brooklyn in it, and less, ah I can't explain it. I love both. I am still a bigger fan of the book. But, the movie...is amazing. :)

know any good sites with req. for a dream movie stills?
hey i'm new to this community
to anyone who has read the book (i have it but i haven't started reading it yet); do you know exactly what drugs they are doing?
because in those quick drugs shots they show multiple drugs and i just wanted to know if they were doing a lot of different drugs or only heroin. or whatever.
thanksss
p.s. i am actually watching Req. as we speak :D
i just joined here and i love requiem for a dream!!!
does anyone have any qoutes for the movies?
I have, rather embarassingly, only just gotten around to watching the film, but I absolutely loved it.
Stunning filming, a great score (especially by the kronos quartet), and I thought an astounding performance by Ellen Burstyn.
I've never been so affected by a movie, as I have with this one. The ending ripped my heart out, kicked it around for a bit, then dipped it in hot tar before returning it to my body.
I'm looking for the book now, to give that a read :)
