On 1 January, the Recon Scout Incident occurred; a reconnaissance scout Dalek which had remained dormant since the 9th century was dug up by archaeologists, Lin and Mitch. It took over Lin's body and proceeded to go on a rampage before the Thirteenth Doctor stopped it by jettisoning it into a supernova. He stopped off at the Fi's Teas for a cup of tea. Walking back to his vehicle, he collapsed. The woman who had served him draged him inside the lorry with the casing and drove it away. During those events, the Thirteenth Doctor discovered that UNIT had been suspended due to funding disputes. (TV: Resolution ^[+]Loading...["Resolution (TV story)"]) A guide for time travellers noted this as a great place and time to pick up forbidden alien artefacts on the cheap. (PROSE: Time Traveller's Diary ^[+]Loading...["Time Traveller's Diary (novel)"]) Despite these funding disputes, UNIT would live on in some form into the coming decades, (PROSE: The Baron Wastes ^[+]Loading...["The Baron Wastes (short story)"], Excalibur of Mars ^[+]Loading...["Excalibur of Mars (short story)"], Alien Bodies ^[+]Loading...["Alien Bodies (novel)"]) and had been reformed by 2022. On 8 March, the 32nd Galactic Heritage Convention was held. River Song attended the convention posing as Romana; after Galactic Heritage gave thanks to Gallifrey for attending, the real Romana sent Leela to the convention to investigate. On 27 April, the year 2004 suddenly disappeared from history, leaving the people of Earth with no memory nor physical documentation of events that had occurred in that year. (PROSE: Time Lapse ^[+]Loading...["Time Lapse (short story)"])

In the "middle" of the year, the Thirteenth Doctor arrived at Daniel Barton's office, using the Master's TARDIS, and planted a virus into the Silver Lady, a fail-safe which would shut the machine down once the Kasaavin invasion arrived early next year, thwarting the Spy Master's plot to destroy humanity. In September, River and Leela visited Charm on Ozkozania to save Juda and Hema from the village's destruction, having seen the ruins of Charm in 2020. The Thirteenth Doctor, Yaz, Ryan, and Graham visited Hidden Human History creator Bethany Brunwine at her home, after the Doctor correctly guessed that she was in fact a Stilean flesh eater, and that Team TARDIS's earlier encounters with her were what inspired her to create her podcast series. The Barber took over Omo's Palace in Lagos and made it a conduit for his Story Engine, holding proprietor Omo Esosa and customers Tunde Adebayo, Rashid Abubakar and Obioma Okoli hostage inside to fuel the engine through storytelling, as part of the Barber's quest to try and kill the gods. The Fifteenth Doctor and Belinda Chandra landed in Lagos to take a Vindicator reading and pick up parts for the TARDIS. The Doctor decided to visit his old friend Omo and discovered the situation, eventually destroying the engine and persuading the Barber to stop, due to the damage destroying the gods would inflict on the human race.
