Topics I’m not interested in discussing at this time:
Because I am not interested in discussing them, I will likely delete any ask you send about them, even if I agree with you.
Please do not send me the same ask multiple times. Especially if it’s a complicated question that requires some thought. I will get to it when I get to it, if I choose to get to it at all. The more times you send an ask, the less likely I am to answer it.
Please do not ask me for images/concept art/screencaps of a specific scene/character/setting/what have you unless you’ve already done an internet search for it yourself and haven’t had much luck with results. Most of the things people ask me for are easy to find. If I can do an image search and find the thing you’re asking me for within seconds, I’m likely not going to provide it to you. Why should I have to do all the legwork for you? This goes for YouTube videos, as well. Look for it before you ask me for it.
On top of this, don’t request things that generally require a ton of legwork for me. “Which character is taller than which?” is fairly easy, if there’s just one comparison to make. But if you want a list of several - plus screencap evidence - you’re already asking me to do a lot of work. Check out my Reference tag to see if what you’re asking for has already been answered.
some character design ideas thrown at the wall + some notes and headcanons
i wasn’t vibing with the moon!cass design from the show, and lance deserves more fits.
what designs are your favorite? i can’t seem to pick one!!
LOVE the one of Lance in the white shirt with the half-cape!
you’re blaming me for stealing your mother’s attention wow cass that’s cringe
I keep seeing “who is worse, Andrew or Frederic” posts and I feel the need to say that they’re both bad in different ways, neither of them are necessarily worse than the other
Frederic was traumatized and because of that he became a corrupt ruler, even after Rapunzel’s return. He consistently invaded her privacy and took away her freedom of movement and used a minor as a scapegoat for his actions. He was forgiven too easily bc the show glorified him as a “misunderstood and desperate father”
Andrew most likely faced racism and couldn’t publicly participate in his heritage. He attempted to manipulate Cass and it’s implied he did the same to Varian. He attempted genocide twice and was almost successful once, tried to kill a minor, and helped essentially enslave the population of Corona before that
We can both agree that they’re both bad people, but neither of them is necessarily worse than the other. Also, stop making their only irredeeming qualities based off what they did to Varian, both of them had established personalities before that
“I am feeling nostalgic today for #tangledtheseries so I thought I would share the premise for “Deranged Marriage,” an early episode of the show that never got made. It’s from the first month the show was in production, so very very early days (and again, a first draft). Enjoy!” ~via Ricky Roxburgh on Twitter
flower gleam and glow
I have no idea, sorry. The only context given was that those model sheets were listed as pre visualization. My best guess is that GootJ was an early version of Zhan Tiri. I think the spikes in her hair are the black rocks. If I find any more information I will make sure to share it here.
I can answer this! I spoke to Ricky Roxburgh, a writer on the show from start to finish, about her and this is what he said:
Next couple of pages!
Definitely had fun making these, and Rapunzel’s style is so relaxing to draw.

I’ve also come up with a title for my comics- Tangled: Extensions! I’m not looking to totally rewrite everything, but I am trying to expand the story and universe in ways that I find interesting and make sense. I will still roughly follow the plot we’re all familiar with (for however long this project ends up being). Feel free to ask me more about it!

happy seventh birthday tangled! since discovering this thing i’ve been curious to see how the campfire scene played differently with that alt version of the score soooo i decided to undertake some video editing and the result is.. hopefully pretty good
He’s got that shit on fr
I’m truly tired of everyone missing the point in Tangled. Wherever I go, I see everyone complaining oH hE cOulD haVe cUT heR hAiR lOnGeR- THAT IS THE POINT. HE DOESN’T CARE. HE LOVES RAPUNZEL FOR WHO SHE IS. NOT HER HAIR.
She spent a lifetime being used just for her hair by Mother Gothel. Flynn came to show that he loved THE WOMAN NOT THE HAIR.
Meanwhile, you, the audience, YOU loved Rapunzel only for her hair, unlike Eugene. Tch tch.
A criticism I've seen about Eugene's involvement with Stallion is that the narrative excuses Eugene leaving her at the altar by threatening Lance's life to make his actions seem less shitty by comparison. Do you think this is a fair criticism? Based off how Eugene acts around Stallion, she seemed like an abusive lover toward him outside of the blackmail to get him to submit. Like this is typical. Do think the writers went to too easy by not making Stallion sympathetic in her anger toward Eugene?
Stalyan definitely comes across as abusive to me. Like, textually, in the way she physically and verbally treats him. It’s not even subtext. I think it was disrespectful for Eugene to leave her at the alter, but I was always under the impression that they were getting married quite young. Possibly younger than is technically legal in most states in the US (though this is up for debate).
It is within anyone’s right to not get married if they change their mind, and forcing them back into it years down the road isn’t the answer. “I’m pissed at you for not marrying me, so as punishment, I’m going to force you to marry me by killing your best friend”? No. That is not a proportionate response. I have no sympathy for Stalyan, nor do I feel like I needed any.
I recently rewatched Sleeping Beauty and a thought struck me. In the movie Rose didn't know she was a princess and falls in in love with Philip but she is betrothed and she is heart broken she has to marry someone else. Fortunatly it works out for her. What would have happened if when Raps became a princess she found out she was also betrothed as an infant and her ability to be with with Eugene was threatened? How would Raps handle it? Would Fredrick force her or let her be with Eugene?
I would like to think that, after eighteen years of her being gone, the other kingdom would have cancelled the betrothal. Before then, even, logically. When Rapunzel wasn’t found by the time she was ten – possibly even younger, but I have no precedent to go on – one would think that the other kingdom would have no obligation to uphold the betrothal. Also, I would think that, after eighteen years of her being gone, Frederic would be in no hurry to force her to marry a stranger. He wasn’t even super keen on Eugene proposing when he did.
Does anyone remember in the beginning of The Wrath of Ruthless Ruth where Frederic just casually goes through Rapunzel’s diary? He just walked into her room and started reading it? Granted, it was already open and he obviously didn’t come into her room with the intent to invade her privacy, but instead of closing it he just flipped the page and continued reading it?? And instead of talking to Rapunzel about how he felt he just issued more guards to be around her which she’s already expressed she didn’t want??? That’s insane???
In the finale Raps immediately knows Frederic went through her diary after Cass said she was being punished for sneaking her out of Corona, even though the pages shown in Ruthless Ruth don’t show us that. (I think the pages shown were from What the Hair?, Challenge of the Brave, and Under Raps). This implies that Frederic has gone through her diary multiple times and was holding onto the sneaking out secret and used that information to punish Rapunzel or that after the events of The Return of the Alchemist he read her diary again and then found out, or he read her whole diary during Ruthless Ruth
Everyone talks about Fred sending Varian to adult prison and locking Rapunzel in a tower, but I don’t feel like we talk about the fact that he went through her diary
I have never ever ever ever been okay with how quickly she forgave him for that. I’ve also never been okay with how he used her private diary to justify locking her in a tower again.
What do you think Tangled would be like if the Dark Kingdom never fell?
Eugene wouldn't be Eugene Fitzherbert—he'd be Prince Horace. And Varian probably wouldn't have been born.
You can’t say that about Varian, because we have literally no idea where his mother came from. Nothing from Vat7K is canon, and there is no canonical in-universe origin of Quirin’s dead wife. She might have been someone he knew from the Dark Kingdom, for all we know.
Tangled would have been different, that’s for sure. Rapunzel might still be in the tower. The Dark Kingdom might have sent an emissary to Corona to discuss the whole thing about the Black Rocks coming, and then Frederic couldn’t ignore it because it would damage diplomatic relations.
Seeing as how Eugene would have been Prince Horace, but still raised on The Tales of Flynnigan Rider, there’s not much reason to think he’d have a deeply different personality, but he’d certainly have had different experiences, which would have made him less bitter and cynical (unless he was bitter and cynical about something else, like the black rocks). He’d probably be a warrior, though, a member of the Brotherhood.
