Resident Evil:Extinction and Good Luck Chuck Reviews
This last weekend I saw "Resident Evil:Extinction"...loved it, best of the RE movies, to the point I think I've been in a daze the last few days. No really I want to go see it again, and can't wait for it to come out on DVD so I can buy it to rewatch. I'm even thinking of doing a video, for the first time in a long time. Now I just need the perfect song...and I think I might be a bit gay for Milla Jovovich, damn she's beautiful. First time in my life I've thought about writing femslash...Alice and Claire might be my new ship of choice...although Alice and Carlos really does turn me on too...maybe I'll just go with a threesome...*wanders away*
Enough with the fangirl gushing. I was just checking the box office results and saw this article
Young men power "Resident Evil" at box office
The article had this to say,
Predictably, the movie drew a crowd of rabid, younger males. According to CinemaScore's polling of the opening-weekend audience, 55% were younger than 25 and 65% were males. The audience was a tough sell, though, and awarded the movie a grade of B-minus.
While I do't agree with the B-minus...but then again my husband didn't like it either "it's just more of the same thing as the last two", but I didn't think so...but I might of just been blinded by Oded Fehr, because damn he's crazy sexy...oh sorry for getting off track...again. I'm really surprised more females didn't go to see it since it's one of the only action movie franchises with a female lead. Was it the zombies or the gore? I know other gory movies women have flocked to see, and it surprises me that this wasn't one of them. I just find it interesting that with the lack of tough chicks in film and television more females aren't watching movies like this.
I'd give it a A-
The article also says,
This past weekend Sony's "Resident Evil: Extinction" opened in the top spot at the North American box office with ticket sales of $23.68 million, a record for the franchise, according to final data issued Monday.
And this makes me very excited because now I can hold my breath for a forth movie. A kick ass chick and zombies...it can't get much better than that...well it could if they hadn't killed off...ok I won't ruin it...
Interesting thought, maybe that's why the male crowd rated it so low. The men in these movies do have a way of dying. The male viewers would associate with the male characters more than the female characters, and killing them would be like the viewer being killed. I know that was one thing my husband mentioned when talking over the film,he didn't like it that the male characters turn into hideous monsters or die, whereas Alice who is also genetically engineered is beautiful...five years in the desert and her skin is flawless...trust me, that can only come from being artificially altered.
Giving my total fangirl love of RE:I another look I've decided this is my fantasy film come true, post apocalyptic world with a kick ass female lead. This is the movie I've been waiting to see. I don't think it could get much better.
The above mentioned article also mentions "Good Luck Chuck" as pulling in the #2 spot. We saw that one too and I liked it. In an interesting turn of events Hubby didn't...but he liked "Superbad" a few weeks ago...go figure, I thought it was super bad. Funny thing is they are basically the same movie, the diffence being about 15 years in the characters ages. Sure there were things in GLC that I wasn't crazy about, but as raunchy films go it was a good time.
