Fun moment in my brain where I mixed up the Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki sword threat to Disney with the Costco Hotdog price quote. And imagined Hayao Miyazaki saying “If you change the fucking movie I’ll kill you” in a Midwestern American accent.

this time around people are in a wave of critique toward the webcomic Lore Olympus, started by a post that was more or less just poking fun at the art style by comparing it to the game Hades because they have the same source material. Fans of the comic are mad about the art jab which… sure ok… but also going on to push back against some of the plot criticisms being brought up against the comic.
I have little to no opinion on the comic itself personally, I’ve never liked the style of it and never read it - the og post felt like a shitpost not something worth fighting over. If anything I have an artistic critique of the general character design being worn out and extremely basic, but I respect the hustle of having to make soooooo much content. It’s a big piece of modern media one twitter jab at its janky design isn’t gonna do jack shit to it.
That being said, there are people trying to brush aside all the plot criticism just to focus on that post, so it’s muddied the water a bit. They’re now using the art style jab as a means to ignore and strike down some of the plot issues people are bringing up. One particular thread is implying it’s immune to criticism due to it’s reliance on greek mythology and archetypes - while another thread has directly listed many ways the comic deviates from the source material enough to be basically OC. Claiming both are true is hypocritical, and when put together does nothing to exempt the comic from criticism.
IMO - No piece of media is without valid criticism of some sort - so that’s my personal issue with the discourse *tm* right now.
