Census records are a powerful tool for discovering your family’s neighbors over time. Look at the census page where your family is listed and see who is living “next door.” It’s also a good idea to check the page before and after the one they are listed on…you never know who you might find!

How do I locate friends of my ancestors?

Newspapers are a great source to locate friends and acquaintances of your family. Scour old articles to see who is mentioned. Keep track of the names of the people you find. They may pop up in other records, too.

Besides yearbooks, where could I look for classmates of my relatives?

Newspapers publish all kinds of school news - from sporting events to theatrical performances; you never know when a family member will be mentioned along with fellow classmates.
