Description:
A forum for those on the shamanic path
My name is StoneBear. The name was given to me by my sister Starhawk, then a Shawnee Second Chief when she adopted me as her brother. Others know me as Wander or Mark. I am a member of the Shawnee Nation, Southeastern Alliance. While I am on the Road, my spiritual practice and beliefs do not come entirely from the Shawnee culture as I was not brought up in it. And so I do not call myself a shaman among my Shawnee brethern. I merely say I follow the path. My spiritual beliefs are that all life and all things are created of an energy called Spirit. Spirit shows itself with many faces. Some people call these faces God or Buddha or Great Spirit or Wakan Tanka. It is all the same energy. Spirit also shows it's face in the form of animals, plants, stones and all the things of the world around us. Mankind is only a small part of this great energy of Spirit. Somewhere along the line man has forgotten that he is a part of all things and has come to believe he is the master of all things. I seek to live my life as a part of Spirit and not in the illusion that I am it's master. I am a shamanic practicioner. I look to the faces of Spirit in the world around me to help me on this quest. I have two main animal spirits who guard and guide me. These are the Owl or She Who Dances on the Wind and Brother Coyote. Both are shapeshifters as am I. Living within me is the spirit of Bear who causes me to constantly look inside myself for answers. More recently I was helped to make contact with the spirit of my great, great, great grandmother, a half Shawnee, half Kickapoo woman named Sh'Na. She revealed that she has also been one of my guides, pushing me forward on this spiritual path. I am a healer as well. Several years ago, a vision was shared with me that I would learn the ancient healing art of the laying on of stones and that I would take this knowledge in a new direction and find new uses for the stones. So far I have been very successful with distance healing. I am constantly studying to become a better healer. More recently, I have been using stones as the basis of healing journeys.

I have created this community as a forum for those who practice shamanism and those who simply want to learn more about it. Shamanism takes many forms and people practice it in many different ways. I hope this community will provide a place where ideas can flow freely from one person to another.

I have made this a moderated community. I have done this because I've seen some of the problems other community moderators have had with open membership. However, I will not stop you from joining just because I may not agree with your point of view. All you need to do is click on the "click here" link near the top of this page. I may send you an email asking a little about you before I add you..

I will not tolerate open displays of prejudice or discrimination in this community. I will also not tolerate name calling. I ask that all members keep an open mind and be open to suggestions from other members. You don't have to agree with everything everyone says but if you disagree, at least be prepared to explain why and be open when others explain their views. Lastly, please don't engage in discussion that could get this community banned from LJ or it's moderator in legal trouble. Break these rules and I'll ban you from the community.

Now that the rather verbose explanation is over, feel free to discuss and have fun.

This community is dedicated to the memory of my friend and mentor, Donna Koon who helped set me on the path.

Every Saturday evening at 9 p.m. US Central time I do a meditation. This is done in my own style for however long it lasts. If someone in the community has something or someone I need to send energy to, please let me know by emailing me at dierker@frontiernet.net. This could be a catastrophe or a sick person or animal who needs healing or just positive energy. These meditations have proved very effective so far. If you wish to join me, start at the appropriate time in your time zone. ie 10 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. Mountain and so on.

Peace,

StoneBear
