So hey

I didn't know that the initial spurt of 'hey it would be cool to make this into a storyteller system' thing was followed by an actual making this into a storyteller system thing until I popped over here to look up a link I couldn't find any more and found posts. Sad I missed it! Would have helped had I known. But since I signed back up to the community about a month or so ago, an idea that's been bugging me for a while has been rearing its head again, and while this post is mostly directed toward wondergecko, I will put it up here because it could affect other folk.

Many of you may have heard of National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo. The long and short of it is basically that people try to pound out a 50,000-odd word novel in a month. This year, I've decided to give it a shot. And when I'm throwing ideas for one around in my head, I keep coming back to this, the intro piece to my SGV character, which I think is probably the best thing I've ever written.

Which brings me back to here.

Basically, it's my intent to pound out a novel that basically consists of a series of short perspective pieces (like the one I linked above) based on the SGV setting and I'm looking for approval. wondergecko, we haven't talked in a while but if you want to get in touch with me to talk about this then Ayu (among others) would know how to do so. Credit would be given where it is due.

As for other people, I don't have more than a rough outline of a plot yet, but some of it quite naturally revolves around characters who were created here, viz., characters who are not mine. I'm not going to use characters without permission, so if you don't have a problem with the idea, feel free to leave an OK or contact info below if you want to talk it over. Credit would be given where it is due. And if you don't want me using a character you've created, I totally understand.

So yeah. Questions, thoughts, concerns and whatnot can be sent my way.

[Crunch] A Rollup So Far

So, at the request of our dark masters, I have attempted to roll up a Seed, and record my notes on the matter. This is as far as I got, so, I feel I shall provide what I have and hope we can use this to flesh some stuff out.

The Character Sheet - Svetlana Mikhaylov, the Firebird

My NotesCollapse )

I hope these notes kind of help, as they were what I obvious. Like I said, I ground to a halt at reflections, so, yeah.

Also, for those interested, Svetlana's original character concept (under the name Yelena Maryushka) is here.

A Potential Solution for Throwbacks

Every Seed has Throwbacks--negative and/or strange aspects of the Seeding that become more and more pronounced as the Seed in question grows in power. Each Seed /must/ take one dot of Throwbacks upon character creation. A seed may suffer more dots of Throwback than mandated, but the player should generally only do this if they wish to burden their character. The Storyteller may choose to grant something in return, but is cautioned that this is not generally a good idea; trading Throwbacks for rewards is too easily abused. In addition, a character gains a dot of Throwbacks every time his Mythos is raised above 4.

For example, a 2-Mythos starting character is required to take one dot of Throwback. This existing Throwback remains as it is until the character reaches Mythos 5, whereupon he gains an additional dot of Throwback, for a total of two dots. At Mythos 6, he gains another total dot of Throwback on top of his base Throwbacks, for a total of three dots, and so on.

Throwback dots are calculated like Reflection dots--reference the table below, and add up the points until the total for the Throwback in question is reached.

Edit: Added explanatory text. Any recommendations for additions to/subtractions from the table are welcome!

Edit: Added Dependency Throwback, condensed text.

Potential Reflections Solution

An idea occurred to me this morning for how we could make Reflections work without providing writeups for every single potential power out there.

Prototype ListCollapse )

The Evocation in question may only be used on the character.

Edit: Edited to reflect the usage of dots, which makes more sense with Storyteller.

Edit: Added explanations of individual Reflection attributes.

[Crunch] Reflections

I was bored, too. Here are some sample Reflections for your perusal and review! Note the vocabulary terms 'Evocation' and 'Aspect'--Aspect Reflections are always on, whereas Evocation Reflections must be triggered with specific actions and/or expenditures of Memory.
