You won’t ever get this song out of your head. You’re welcome.
And I know, this doesn’t fit the opener categorie, as it’s the closing song. But the opener hasn’t got it’s hooks into the brains of children just like Warum bin ich so fröhlich did.
So, meet the hero of my childhood: Alfred Jodocus Kwak. (Yes, you say the whole name instead of just Jay or something. People get rightfully called out for such laziness.)
We Germans got lucky, with Herman van Veen singing for us as well. 👍
Fun story time: I had the first like ten or twelve episodes on cassettes. And just like always when I’m fan of something, I’m listening to it. All day long. Every day. Thus, sounds of the cassettes came from my room, and Stibitzi screaming „I AM NO SPYYYYY“, really high-pitched has drilled itself into Mum’s mind, she’s ptsd’ed, I tells you. Mention Alfred and she’ll raise her voice to mimic that cry.
And while I never made it to the episodes to Winnie for some reason, she was my first girl crush. I had one of those calenders, where you can cut out the illustration and use as a postcard and either July or June had Alfred and Winnie sitting on a rainbow, sharing a sundae. Even my rather aromantic ass loved this image.
I really need to renew my subscription to access my Alfred icon…

Date: 2025-02-22 19:49 (UTC)From:I think I've watched it on Saturdays. Had a love/hate relationship with Darkwing Duck all my life, where I went through: He's stupid and arrogant, I hate him to Actually, quite fun. Let's rewatch. Also, guy's got a cool hat, so that helped.
My after school routine was going back and forth Super RTL and RTL II. XD

Date: 2025-02-22 20:04 (UTC)From:Yeah, advertising is always a good idea, though FTH also does some promo posts throughout the week. I've been making some posts on tumblr and have reblogged everyone who offers fanbinding and has a tumblr post up. I mentioned it on my Bksy though that's a small account, but better than nothing. XD
I looooved Darkwing Duck! XD Yeah, those were the times!

Zwo—Eins-Risikooo
Damn, my Disney+ sub ended a few months ago. No D-Doublejuu marathon for me.

Date: 2025-02-22 21:04 (UTC)From:I've not tried rounding yet - I'm a lazy bookbinder. XD Perhaps I'll try it at some point, now that I've made a Klotzpresse, but it's not a priority. I love inlays. :D I don't have fancy equipment like Cricut etc. so I need other ways to make nice covers. *g*
I also don't have a Disney+ sub currently - I rarely take the time to sit down and watch something and it's too expensiv to pay without watching anything. I've got Netflix through my parents, that has to be enough for now. XD

Date: 2025-02-22 21:15 (UTC)From:Klotzpresse… *googles* Aaah. Those. Der Vorteil wenn man gut in Englisch ist: Tutorials from all over the world. Der Nachteil: Keine Ahnung wie die Fachbegriffe auf Deutsch sind. I only have hot foil quills, so that's as fancy as I get.
Saaaame. D+ was part of my last DSL contract for a year and I hardly used it. Apart from that only getting subs for a month when there's something I want to watch.

Date: 2025-02-22 21:33 (UTC)From:I couldn't remember what it's called in English because my resources are such a mix of German and English. XD I made it myself with stuff from Obi - only annoying thing was getting the thick wooden blocks, because they didn't have short ones - now I've basically got wood for two more of these things. XD
Hot foil quills are awesome! <3

Date: 2025-02-22 21:43 (UTC)From:I got my granpa to build a bookpress, but he used materials he got lying around, so it's not real wood, but that pressed stuff. It did not like when I wanted to squeeze a lil chonker to hell and back. But I think I can still use it to hold my books when sewing endbands. 🤔
And I've got a cardboard book cradle. Such a handy thing and surprisingly sturdy. :D

Date: 2025-02-22 21:57 (UTC)From:Yay for a book cradle! :D
I really need to start working on my binds again - I've got a ready-to-go textblock here that just needs a case, and I've got another typeset printed... And I need to do the typeset for the MTH book, I've been dragging my feet because typesetting is the process I'm meh about. But with FTH now coming up, I should get to that, probably...
(Currently, I'm suffering through the ESC show on RTL and there's been, like, two songs that are kind of okay but not really hits? T_T The other, uhhh 11 or so are pretty forgettable. *sigh*)

Date: 2025-02-23 00:14 (UTC)From:I'm also doing two notebooks with the sewn boards style and then will have to return to typesetting.
It's so great and makes punching things so easy. I was worried it'd be wobbly, being made of cardboard, but no, sturdy enough and can be folded flat and stored easily. <3
Oh, is the ESC hype train starting? I usually only join in the finals and mostly stay oblivious before.

Date: 2025-02-23 08:58 (UTC)From:I might make a book cradle, too (just found an nice tutorial on YT) because though punching works well enough on the edge of a table, it seems much easier to keep all the papers aligned in a cradle.
Yeah, they're trying to create hype with Raab being back etc. Next Saturday is the final for our act and ... ehhhh. From those they left in, I can see potetnial in about three, perhaps four songs, if they do some work on them. I hope they do. Fearing through that the public will choose the metal band whose song really didn't convince me (suuuper simple chorus, wordgames in the German lyrics will be lost on most viewers). We'll see.

Date: 2025-02-23 20:28 (UTC)From:Four keys has a good one, with two craddle variants. Here's a little blog post in my digital garden attempt about mine. And it's so easy to use a template with that, since usually, there's at least one of two misprints that come in the right size. XD
Does anyone actually really care about Raab being back? I never cared for him, so I have no idea if anyone's excited for him.
Oh no. I love puns, but you're right, might not work on international audiences.

Date: 2025-02-24 20:10 (UTC)From:Ohhh yes that's exactly the video I also found and thought was really well explained! :D
I would've prefered for Raab to stay retired - or at least come back with fresh ideas, which I haven't seen so far from him. I liked Schlag den Raab and he did well with hus music shows back in the day, but time has moved on.

Date: 2025-02-26 16:21 (UTC)From:Sewn boards are surprisingly easy, too. I dare to go right onto the real story without a test run before. :D
I had tiger waves when trying Pritt Alleskleber and paper for covers. XD Sadly, no tigers in the story, or I would've just run with it.
Four Keys also explained the weaver's knot in a way I understand. I even succeeded recently in doing one without having to look up instructions first AND it worked right away! So proud.
Yeah, people in showbiz need to realise when it's time to just stay in retirement or behind the scenes.
