Plot summary
The spaceport mix-up
Jedi Initiate Kai Brightstar tosses and turns as he reckons with a nightmare about pirates. His friends Lys Solay and Nubs reassure him that he was just experiencing a dream and check if he is alright. Brightstar is relieved but says he had a difficult sleep and needs to rest for the day. He hopes to read a holobook and take it easy. Since they do not have any scheduled training, Solay and Nubs invite Brightstar to accompany them to Kublop Springs spaceport. Despite his reluctance, they push for him to go out. While lounging on their speeder bikes, the three younglings watch starships fly in and out of the spaceport, including a Zekodoan Cruiser. A fruit drops near Brightstar and splatters.
Brightstar wants to go back to the Tenoo Jedi Temple and rest, but Solay insists on finding something to do together. She sees a labor droid called F-4RO in distress and goes to help him. Solay introduces herself and her friends to the droid. F-4RO reluctantly allows them to load a crate onto a hover cart and bring them aboard a starship. When the younglings keep cutting off the droid's explanations, however, they accidentally load a crate onto the wrong ship, which promptly takes off from Kublop Springs spaceport. F-4RO panics because the departing ship is heading to the pirate stronghold of Yarrum Tower, and he fears the pirates will never give it back.
A reluctant adventure
Solay apologizes and promises that she and her friends will bring back the cargo. Nubs backs her up while Brightstar grumbles about wanting to have a quiet day reading his holobook at the temple. Nevertheless, he agrees to help his friends retrieve the cargo. Brightstar contacts their friend Nash Durango to arrange a ride on the Crimson Firehawk. The Jedi younglings travel on the Firehawk to Yarrum. Durango and RJ-83 agree to stay aboard while the Jedi younglings travel to the pirate tower in pirate disguises.
At the entrance, they encounter Brightstar's friend Hudi, a Twi'lek merchant. Brightstar introduces Solay and Nubs to Hudi, explaining that she has an outpost nearby. Hudi adds that she has a small shop in the tower. When Hudi asks what they are doing here, Brightstar explains the situation and asks for her helpp. Hudi thinks that if the cargo was dispatched today, it would still be at the landing pad. She warns that the pirates closely monitor both incoming and outgoing traffic. Furthermore, the pirates will recognize them despite their costumes. Hudi offers to sneak them into the landing pad inside a crate. The younglings squeeze inside, hardly enough room for the three of them.
Up at the landing pad, Hudi nonchalantly informs a Gamorrean guard that she is bringing a delivery. The guard allows her to proceed with the crate into the cargo pad. As Hudi slides the crate off of her hover cart, Solay yelps in pain, catching the attention of the guard. Hudi plays it off, but worries about the guard catching the younglings as they exit the crate. As means of distraction, she flirts with the Gamorrean guard, flattering him about his job loading the cargo and gives the younglings the signal to exit their crate. The guard follows after the Twi'lek, giving the younglings an opening to find their target.
Pirate entanglements
Right when the Jedi find their quarry, they are confronted by the pirates gang the Ganguls, led by the trio Sellaccc Orryak, Toda-Joh and Jooro "Speeds" Jarrot. The pirates mock the children for showing up at their territory. Brightstar explains that they do not want a fight but that they have come to retrieve a crate that was accidentally sent to Yarrum Tower. Orryak refuses to let them reclaim the crate, saying that the Ganguls own everything that arrives at the tower. Jarrot and Orryak are curious about the contents of the crate.
Solay and her friends respond that the crate does not belong to them and draw their training lightsabers. However, Joh uses an energy weapon to snatch their lightsabers while Jarrot traps them with a rope gun. Orryak orders "Speeds" and Toda-Joh to unlock the crate. Solay apologizes to her friends for getting them into trouble, and says she wanted them to have fun together. Brightstar says that all he wanted was a "pirate-free day" staying home at the Temple and reading a holobook. Solay apologizes for making Brightstar do something she thought he wanted.
Reclaiming the crate
Brightstar devises a plan to cut themselves free from the rope. They maneuver themselves towards the Gamorrean's left-behind axe while Jarrot and Toda-John are distracted trying to pry the crate open with an axe of their own. After freeing themselves, Brightstar gets Solay and Nubs to distract the Ganguls while he contacts Durango for help.
Following a chase, the pirates corner Solay and Nubs. However, Brightstar throws his friends their lightsabers. Solay does a Force jump and snatches her and Nubs' lightsabers in the air. After Nubs rejoins the trio, Solay hands him his lightsaber. The three Jedi make a stand at front of the crate. The Firehawk arrives and RJ-83 opens the front hatch. RJ-83 uses a grappling cable to pull the crate aboard the Firehawk, which ascends into the sky. After the Jedi push the pirates away with the Force, the Firehawk swoops down low enough to pick up the Jedi younglings. After the Crimson Firehawk escapes, Orryak vows revenge against the Jedi for coming to her home and taking their "things."
Returning to Kublop Springs' spaceport, the Jedi younglings return the crate to a delighted F-4RO, who thanks them. Solay apologizes to the droid for not listening to him earlier and doing what they assumed was the best. F-4RO sets off to deliver the cargo. Later, Solay tells Brightstar that she has something that will cheer him up. They spent the rest of the day reading holobooks in Brightstar's bunk bed.
