Dear Femslasher - thank you so much for writing or drawing for me. I really enjoy this exchange, and am very much looking forward to seeing what you come up with. My general likes/dislikes post is
here, and prompts for specific pairings can be found below. I'm happy with any rating, from pining-that-goes-nowhere to explicit.
I've included specific prompts for art where I could think of them, but I'm still fairly new to requesting art, so am still finding my way around making useful prompts. Ignore them if they're not helpful! Please be reassured that I would welcome art or fic equally for any of these pairings.
Yuri!!! on IceLilia Baranovskaya/Okukawa MinakoHow far back do they go? Did they know each other from their performing days? Or do they meet at a skating competition and argue about coaching techniques? They seem like very different characters: do opposites attract, or is that why things never really get off the ground? Perhaps part of Victor's motivation for going to Hasetsu is to persuade Minako to get back in touch with Lilia (or maybe it just works out that way). I'd love to see them together, onstage or offstage.
Mila Babicheva/Sara CrispinoFriends? Rivals? Friends and rivals? However things really stand between them, I'm interested in their relationship as competitors, and how they might manage a personal connection in that context. Skating detail is welcome but by no means compulsory! Ignore, include, or explain away, Mickey, and Mila's hockey player partner (do we ever know their gender?) as you feel inclined. Show them on the ice, or exploring Naples or St Petersburg or anywhere together.
Shuumatsu no Izetta | Izetta: The Last WitchOrtfiné Fredericka von Eylstadt/IzettaRuritanian politics, and loyalty to the death, and an amazingly devoted relationship that's surely going to be difficult to navigate through the aforementioned politics. What happens between the climax and the epilogue? Is Izetta happy in her secluded cottage, and is Finé content to keep her hidden? What's going to happen to the Eylstadtian succession?
The Comfortable Courtesan - Madame C- C-Lady Emily M-/Lalage FensterWorking out how and what to tell Em's siblings? Dealing with an unexpected suitor? Em falling for yet another glamorous young lady who proves to be unworthy of her affections, and returning with pretty contrition to Lalage? Lady B- hints in the second snippet that she's prepared to offer some instruction in the Sapphick arts: do they take her up on the offer? (I would be very happy for this to get into threesome territory if you felt it going that way.)
Specific DNW: these two are, as best I can work out, first cousins once removed. There's no indication that they consider this to be incest; I certainly don't consider cousin relationships to be incest; and so I'd very much prefer this not to be mentioned as a barrier to their relationship.
Lady J-/Miss A-I adore these two and the gradual progression of their love affair from its rocky beginnings to its ultimate stable ménage, and I'd be happy with anything within that. A backstage visit? Miss M- causing trouble? Something around the time of Lady J-'s miscarriage? (I love the bit when Miss A- goes to visit her in drag.) A visit to Hampshire, or even to the Admiral's ship? An older and wiser Miss A- dealing with a younger actress' inconvenient passion for her? Mention, or indeed presence, of Miss M- or the Admiral, is fine.
Miss G- | Mrs. T-/Ellie N-There are some very tantalising little hints in the letters that come from the Antipodes. I'd love something that expands on those hints. How might these two come together into a romantic relationship? Does the fact that Mrs Thorne is Miss Netherne's employer make things awkward? Or, you know, just show them feeding kangaroos or reading to the children together.
Do feel free to bring in the gentlemen if it feels appropriate, but I would very much prefer the focus to be on Abby and Ellie.
Miss G- | Mrs. T-/Madame C- C-We don't see a huge amount of Miss Gowing before she disappears off to the Antipodes in the company of Mr Thorne, and I was pleased to see some more of her in
The Ironmaster's Tale, particularly the way she and Clorinda interact. I'd like to see more. Those early days at Madame Z-'s? (When did they stop experimenting together? - or perhaps they didn't?) Or when they went out hunting as a pair? Perhaps later in the timeline? One of Clorinda's steamy letters?
Art-specific prompt: We hear a lot about how good they look together. I'd love to see it. Sitting for a portrait by Sir Zoffany Robinson? A scandalous print?
Miss A-/Miss M-Miss Minton just keeps turning up like a bad penny, doesn't she? Whatever did Miss Addington see in her? I'd be very interested to see her machinations up close, and to see how Miss A- gets caught up in them. Fine with dubcon/noncon here.
Doctor WhoAshildr | Lady Me/Clara Oswin Oswald and
Ashildr | Lady Me/Clara Oswin Oswald/River SongTime-travelling high jinks? Yes, please! Clara and Lady Me heading off in their own TARDIS made the season finale for me, and I'd love to know what happens to them next. Make this as serious or as light-hearted as you like - they've both got plenty of issues to work through, but at the same time they've got the whole universe to have fun with. And if you wanted to add in River Song, well, whyever not?
Jenny Flint/Madame VastraI love these two. How many Victorian sensibilities can one outrage in 'I'm a lizard woman from the dawn of time... and this is my wife'? At least five, I should think. Case fic is great; so is domesticity; so is General Sarah Watersesque Victoriana. Presence or absence of the Doctor, anyone else from canon, or historical personages are all fine. Keep them in London or take them to Scarborough or Glasgow or Monte Carlo or outer space or anywhere else you fancy.
Specific DNW: Jenny's accent written out phonetically, particularly if she's the narrator or the point of view character.
Martha Jones/River SongTwo clever women who deserve some fun - why not let them have some fun together? How would they meet? What wacky time travelling adventures would they have together? What alien menace would they defeat?
Zoe Heriot/Isobel WatkinsMiniskirts and mindwipes, triumph and tragedy. Fix it (Isobel knows a lot of scientists: perhaps eventually she'll persuade one to invent time travel and restore Zoe's memories) or don't, make it the defining moment of Isobel's life or a minor footnote to the swinging sixties, whatever. Whatever their relationship is or could be, we get very little in
The Invasion. I'd like more.
The Count of Monte CristoEugénie/Louise How did they meet? Dumas introduces Louise as Eugénie's singing teacher, but later implies that they're friends from school. Both could be true! It's suggested that, because Louise may have to earn her living on the stage, Eugénie can't be seen with her in public. How monumental was the row when someone told Eugénie that? Or, post-canon, how do they manage their new life? Do they come to roaring operatic success or bohemian poverty? If the latter, is Eugénie really as good at living for art alone as she thinks she is? Or just show me more of the 'wedding night' at the Bell and Bottle?
Eugénie/ValentineCan opposites attract? Their parents assume they're friends, but they don't seem to think much of each other. Could either of them change the other's mind? Then again, perhaps they're more similar than they think: they're both willing to defy their parents' wishes. An AU where Louise and/or Maximilien never come on the scene could be interesting, too.
Lord Peter WimseySylvia Marriot/Eiluned PriceThese two are great. I love the glimpses of bohemian London we get throughout the series, and I'd like to see more of it from the inside, so to speak, as opposed to one of Lord Peter's occasional safari tours. Sylvia and Eiluned and their packing case seem to me to be one of the more sympathetic portrayals. How do they meet each other? How do they meet Harriet? What do they do when they're not trying to clear their friend's name?
Original WorkI have had tremendous trouble narrowing original work pairings down to ten: there were dozens that appealed to me in one way or another, and what I've done is eliminated those that seemed to duplicate the dynamic of ones that I'd requested elsewhere. So please do interpret these broadly.
I'm not fussy about setting (time or place) on any of these. I've tried to give some prompts, but half the joy of this is seeing people come up with things that would never have occurred to me, so please feel free to depart from them if you have other ideas.
Courtesan/NoblewomanThis has potential for some really interesting dynamics. What do these two make of each other at first meeting? How does their relationship change and develop? What's the status of a courtesan at this particular court? Perhaps the noblewoman engages the courtesan on her own behalf, or perhaps they're forced into each other's proximity by someone else's machinations.
Dethroned and Dishonored Queen/Lone Loyal Female KnightThere must be some interesting backstory here. I'd be fascinated to know how these two got to this point, and where they go from here. What does the queen feel about the knight's continuing loyalty? What potential does her change in status have to change their relationship?
Female Musician/Female PoetI'm a sucker for art about art, and particularly the interplay between different kinds of art. Maybe the musician is trying to set the poet's words to music. Maybe they're working together on a commission, and finding it hard to compromise. Maybe one of them has been a fan of the other for years. This pair could be beatniks or medieval ladies, Victorians or space colonists.
Female Pilot/Female Enemy PilotThis could all end horribly, couldn't it? I am OK with this possibility! I am also OK with a more optimistic ending. What's the war? Are these women fighting for principle or practicality? How do they encounter each other? What happens when they do?
Art-specific prompt: perhaps something interesting could be done with contrasting uniforms and equipment.
Governess in Gothic Mansion/Female GhostThis has delightfully creepy possibilities. What is the origin of the ghost, and what is it that makes her interested in the governess? Maybe it's one unending nightmare for the governess - or maybe it's the one thing that makes her job bearable. If you wanted to introduce other characters (a bored mother? a curious debutante? other ghosts?) I'd be fine with that, too.
Lady locked in a tower/Lady who turns into a hawkThis pairing is a story in itself. But I'd still like to know more. Why is the lady in a tower? Who put her there? How does the hawk-lady know how to find her? Do they manage to escape? Maybe they don't want to. This could be absolutely gorgeous.
Pilot/Her ShipThis could be a spaceship, but I'm equally open to other sorts of craft - aeroplane? galleon? For pilot, you could also read 'captain'. There's something that really gets me about the relationship between a captain and her ship, the sense that this human-made structure is as much a person as anyone aboard her. And I'd be interested in what the rest of the crew makes of that, too.
This could be silly or angsty or anything you like, really.
Opera singer/Opera singerIs this a pair of rival sopranos, or singers in the same production who are so used to singing alongside each other that they don't know what they're going to do at the end of the run? Is one of them in the travesti role? I had to delete 'Mezzo in Pants/Soprano' due to space issues, but if you wanted to write that under this umbrella that would also be lovely. Onstage? Backstage? Dealing with bad reviews?
Art-specific prompt: onstage/offstage
Princess Entering An Arranged Marriage/Her Princess BrideSo what are the politics behind this? Who's done the arranging? Do both princesses feel the same way about it? How
do they feel about it? Resigned? Resentful? Is it a long-standing arrangement or something more hurried?
Art-specific prompt: some royal wedding souvenirs that unwittingly give away the real story could be very interesting.
Queen/Rival QueenAgain, there's potential here for some very interesting dynamics. What does their rivalry concern? Perhaps they encounter each other in the usual course of business, or perhaps they never intended to meet each other. (Plausible) mistaken identity could work well here.
