I'm replaying the alpha and got my self sucked back into Blade's route (again). The last time I did a full playthrough I was kicking my feet gleefully at all the wee hints. This time what has struck me is how FERAL Blade is - the poor guy is BARELY holding himself together through Wallmire. No wonder Trouble and Chase find the whole thing hilarious. Anyway - that's all, love your work <3

Hi, you’ve got them all: either Chase (if you’ve taught him to read), Shery (if you picked up her diary), or Caine (if he’s a recruit and you’ve spent some time with him) will show up, or no one at all if the above conditions haven’t been met!

Trouble’s use of his power is generally completely unconscious and instinctive–like he doesn’t plan for it to happen ahead of time, it just happens, which is why he’s speculative that it even really exists at all–but yes, it did activate during the confrontation with Thurl: it just wasn’t a purposeful decision on his part!

1.kill Thurl and all the Asag by self

2.let RO kill Thurl and destroy all the Asag

3.take Thurl alive but some of Asag got away, give him to the Wallmirans

But the Changelings still said they're not ready to join Shepherds.

Does this mean I have to do both eliminating all the Asag and letting the Changelings execute Thurl to get them to join?

I read #chapter 7 to understand that it's not necessary to eliminate the Asag entirely,so I feel confused.


And my MC Physique is 90, I still can’t manage to kill all the Asag while keeping Thurl alive. Do I need to raise Astral (my MC only 21) to pass the check?

Hi anon, thanks for your question and all the details, it helps to eliminate a lot of scenarios and narrows things down!

It sounds like you’re doing everything right: I should clarify that the Changelings are different from other factions (more similar to the Elementals or the Elves in Ashtown) in that none of them come back with you or actively say “I’m joining up”–in the scenario where the game counts as them “joining,” you get this text:

Hello! I'm having an issue breaking out of Thurl's hold. I was able to figure out that he wasn't my chosen RO and I was able to pass the first check to resist, but the second one was blanked out. I looked through the unofficial guide and your archive, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I have maxed out my physique and my magic is at 95. My Astral magic is almost maxed out as well since I'm an Elemental mage. I'm assuming that I need one of the other types of magic to break out? Or an I wrong? The only other thing I can think it may be is my nerves of steel which even it is at 83. Thank you! 😊

Hi, yes, you either need high Psionic magic to break out of Thurl’s hold (depending on what specialization you are), or a maxed-out 100 Magic if you’re not a Mage who’s high in Psionic! Hope that helps!

Hi there, I understand your confusion, but please note that romance is not determined by the 100% approval meter (which determines friendship and overall relationship) on the stats page, but by romance flags, which are largely hidden! You can read more about this in the #romance system tag, especially this post here!

Regarding Blade, he is hard to romance, and also a lot of his romance scenes won’t show unless he’s the character you have the highest number of romance flags with: if you have just as many or more with Trouble, you might get Trouble’s scenes instead of his! Hope that’s helpful!

Hi anon, thanks for catching this! It turns out this was a typo that changed the number from 30 to 40, so that’s why you’re having trouble meeting it :D That’ll be fixed in the next update!

Sorry I’ll never get over Wallmire and the fact that if MC is rescued by their RO, how terrifying for the boys it would be to see that-the only one who probably knows exactly what [redacted] is doing to MC is Red. MC is screaming and being held up by [redacted] writhing in pain, legs dangling in the air, the kicks getting weaker and weaker and their RO comes across that?? no wonder they all crashed out that way. Given how canonically capable and powerful MC is, to see them gone limp and held out like a ragdoll???It was probably the first time they ever heard MC scream in agony like that, how fucking chilling. Do you think they hear them scream like that in their nightmares now, do you think they see MC tormented by some invisible force and held by the throat by a monster???

Hi anon, the reason I haven’t done this is because the threshold needs to stay true to the intended vision for the game for testing purposes! It’s supposed to be difficult to solve this case, and collecting player stats to see how difficult it really is will be important data down the road. However, I’ll consider providing redirects if it doesn’t prove too complicated!

Please check the incomplete routes link at the top of the alpha build post on Patreon to see ways for you to get through Chapter 7. :) It’s not exactly a bug in that it’s expected behavior, but it is an incomplete path that you’ll need to read the link to know how to bypass for now!

Because every time I've played, I get Halek, which always surprises me since I have such higher relationship percentages with Blade, Trouble, and Red. So I was just curious what makes my playthrough give me Halek?

Hi, this really depends on who you’re romancing, if you’re romancing anyone, and what exactly everyone’s relationship scores are! It’s a bit too complicated for me to get into the logistics of the code here, but basically the game checks first if you’re romancing anybody; who the “highest” romance is and if that person is among the people at home, randomly deciding between them if there are ties; and if none of those conditions are fulfilled (i.e. your highest romance isn’t among the home party or you don’t have enough romance flags with them to trigger the scene), then the game checks for your highest friendship scores. However, at the moment, if a lot of people are tied for first (like multiple people are at 90, or everyone’s maxed out at 100), the game has not been coded to figure out who’s “highest,” so that’s probably why it’s defaulting to Halek, who is less the placeholder and more the backup if none of the above conditions can be met. I’m planning on fixing that part for the final version of the game, but I didn’t want to faff around with it yet because it’s quite finicky coding and I don’t want to mess anything up on a systematic level! Hope that makes sense! :)

Edit: actually, I did just try updating a fix to that–hopefully it works! It’s untested, so we’ll see :’)

Hi there, so the game intermittently checks who your highest relationship is to determine who your best friend and RO are, and if you have characters who are tied (i.e. if both Trouble and someone else are at 100%), then the game will randomly decide who your best friend is each time! So it might have transpired that the game switched to Trouble if you have multiple people tied for highest relationship with you! Playing again and nudging things so that Trouble is not tied for highest might help. :) Hope that’s helpful!
