It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.

I'm cleaning my room which of course includes paring down my book collection.  Please express interest by Monday the 6th or the books may be gone since if I don't get them out of the house soon, I'll likely forget them in a corner for months.

Tad Williams- Tailchaser's Song

Patricia Hermes- Salem Witch (A kids book, interesting format concept but not that well written)

Johanna Sinisalo- Troll: A Love Story

Martin Millar- The Good Fairies of New York

Diana Wynne Jones- Howl's Moving Castle (Yes, this is what the Miyazaki movie is based on.  Wonderful book.)

C. E. Murphy- Heart of Stone and House of Cards

Charles de Lint- Widdershins and Dingo (Dingo is a book for young teens, but well written.  De Lint is a wonderful ottawa based author.)

Madeleine L'Engle- A ring of endless light and Many waters

Mercedes Lackey- Phoenix and Ashes & Reserved for the Cat (probably not worth your time)

Andre Norton and Mercedes Lackey- Elvenbane, Elvenblood, Elvenborn (Not bad books, but too slow moving and war oriented for me.)
