I started using LiveJournal back in 2004/2005 mainly to participate in the Harry Potter fandom. I migrated over to Dreamwidth in 2009 and slowly stopped crossposting other places. DW is my home, and I adore it here.
I used to post mainly about fandom, but as the way I interact with fandom changes, this journal is morphing into more general thoughts about books I'm reading, shows I'm watching, games I'm playing, and occasional life stuff. Life stuff is always locked, sometimes the other stuff is too, but I'm pretty easygoing about granting access if you're interested in that sort of thing!
I'm anti-censorship and a huge believer in YKINMKATO.

Date: 2019-01-18 06:09 pm (UTC)it's wild to me how hp just ... never goes away. and i never ever run out of things to read, partially because i keep cycling through the same ten or so incredible, life-changing fics.
honestly my kpop experience is somewhat similar to yours; i got into it maybe ten years ago and suju and shinee and fx and snsd were my groups. then i dipped out of it for a while (to do bandom and then hockey rpf and then teen wolf) and only really dialed in again about five years ago. so i have like two layers of kpop knowledge that feel weirdly distinct and separate even though those older groups are still around. these days my groups are bts, ikon, exo, stray kids, nct, tvxq, btob, red velvet, mammamoo (altho i've got some ~qualms with them), monsta x, seventeen, day6, jay park, jessi, chungha, LOADS MORE I'M FORGETTING but those are the first ones that spring to mind. honestly i stan EVERYONE, there are so many incredible groups in kpop, it's like an EXCELLENT CONTENT party 24/7. bts are my main though, for real. i just dipped my toe in the writing pool for the first time since i got fannish about kpop and i'm writing a bts coffee shop / college au and it's s p r a w l i n g because i have had so many ideas but i've been too scared to post things so this thing i am posting is already out of control. the moral of the story is that i need to post more kpop fic. it's so intimidating starting over in a brand new fandom. and fandom these days isn't like fandom of old; there's no central place where everyone hangs out, there's really no actual fandom to speak of it's just individuals and/or groups of individuals with nowhere to be united.
aaaaaaaaaaand now i'm the one babbling! i'm sorry!

Date: 2019-01-18 09:26 pm (UTC)So exciting about your fic! I hear you about new fandoms. I've been in HP so long and only branched out here and there and then ran back to my safety zone. And yes, not having a central hub -- like when I first got into HP, everyone was on LJ so it was easy to lurk and find everyone, etc. I'm just glad more people are using DW now--or at least it seems like it! Having a little corner here is nice even though everyone is spread out, you know?
But it's always so exciting when you have so many ideas that you can't write them all down fast enough. That's awesome! I wish you lots of kpop fic posting this year! :D

Date: 2019-01-18 10:00 pm (UTC)tvxq are RIDICULOUS. they are so in love? like. it's blatant. it's undeniable. i don't understand how there isn't a million fics written about this. but i've been talking to people about this on twitter just today, actually. there's a huge lack of fic for the older groups and it sucks. i think i committed myself to writing some suju fic for a couple people.
i really hope dw takes off, this time. when everyone fled livejournal we all made dw accs but not everyone ended up actually using them. when i checked in on all my friends this week, all their last entries were from like 2013. when lj died, fandom did. what people are doing these days isn't fandom. it's standom. and it's cool for what it is, but my god do i miss fandom.
are you writing at the moment? i'd love to pick your brain about your writing process, i dig into everyone's experiences and practices like it's my last meal. :D
by posting two fics so far this year, i've already officially posted more fic in 2019 than i did in 2018. which is terrible. but i'll still use that fact to feel ~accomplished. i'm having a lot of fun with what i'm posting, so nothing about it is anything but joyous tbh. writing is the absolute best. i love it so much. ♥_________________♥
i'm actually having probably the worst day i've had in several years? but currently i'm sitting on the floor in front of the fireplace, hanging out with my best pal, my bichon frise lola. right now i can't complain!

I don't talk about it because I have found out that the more I talk about specifics or ideas or anything, the less I actually write. It's like I put pressure on myself by talking about it, and that pressure is not conducive to creative output, if that makes sense. I love writing too, but it became a struggle the last couple of years, and I took a long break and then just started writing privately, no pressure kind of stuff. Anyway, I probably posted like four things last year? LOL So Idk I say be unashamed of being proud and feeling accomplished for already posting two things this year! That's awesome! Nothing but joyous sounds awesome to me too! I hope I can get back to that. haha. ♥
I'm sorry to hear that you were having such a hard time the other day. I hope things are better! Cuddling with a cute doggy can't hurt. I had to look up what bichon frises look like because I don't know breeds at all and omg, adorableness!!
