read this. This story left me weak in the knees. It's very, very long, but absolutely worth the time commitment, because HOT DAMN is it good. It's so gorgeously-written, and slow, and detailed, and exhaustively emotional, and sexy, and plotty, and twisty-and-turny, with an insanely hot Dean/Jimmy-Cas and the full, glorious cast of SPN characters. This fic does what the best AUs should do -- gives us radically different circumstances for the characters we know and love, and then shows us, lovingly, precisely, unerringly, how these beloved characters would be in this new world. They're different because the world is different, but they're the same, too. It's amazing.
Any Jimmy Novak or Castiel fan should not miss this one. TRUST ME.

Two months and sixteen days after the world stops, they drive North. read this.A quiet and poignant look at a post-war future for Sam, Dean, and Castiel. Filled with gorgeous imagery and description, this is well-crafted piece of prose and an example of an ending I would have loved to see for Team Free Will. It's part of a WIP, but stands alone very nicely.

It's amazing what you decide you can get away with when you can't see a damn thing. read this.Well-written and gorgeous! I find myself returning to this story often because it's such a realistic and moving look at a possible post-war future. Everyone is beautifully in-character; Dean will break your heart, as will Castiel. The ending is so perfect it will stay with you for a long time.

A little heartbreaking in parts, but hopeful as well, this is a story full of wonderful moments, hard truths, and spot-on characterizations; I especially love the ending.

So that's exactly what Dean does. read this.The sort of fic that just warms the heart. Offering the kind of happy ending that would be so wonderful to see for these two, this story is a sweet and romantic look at what it means to build a home.

Afterward, the world moves on, scars heal, and Sam and Dean do what they do. read this.This lovely fic is a really believable happy ending for both boys. Quiet, tender, a little melancholy but so hopeful and so satisfying.
reccer's note. Sometimes you just have to write your own ending. For this reason, future!fics are one of my favorite fanfic genres because they allow you to envision futures (and Happily Ever Afters) for characters or pairings you love. I love stories where Castiel is trying to do things properly and gets them just slightly wrong.

It really made it stand out for me.

The prompt could have produced a cracky fic but what we actually get is something that feels entirely natural with just a side order of humour

Therefore, Castiel would have to have sex with Dean. read this.I loved Castiel's characterisation in this and his desire simply to make Dean happy. Dean is wonderful too, so open in the world Castiel creates for him but so hesitant too.
