My Hair: A Progress Update
So, it has been one whole month since the big day, and it has certainly flown past.
I have to admit that shaving off all my hair has been a miserable experience for me, not only because of the demoralizing effect of being called a dyke, and being jeered at (surprisingly often :( - makes me woder about the poor folk with cancer that get the same jibes) but also because it makes me feel less feminine. I mean, I never was one for being very girly, but my hair always made me feel more confident, more socially accepted.
I don't regret doing it, I'm glad I could help charity, but I wish I had thought about the aftermath a bit more. Some people can be very very cruel. On the other hand though, I have been able to raise even more money from people who come in to say congratulations (they read about it in the local press) and I got a hand signed letter from the director of TLPT which made my day. I have pinned that up beside my unsung hero of the month nomination I got from work.
I'm sure I'll feel a lot happier about my new 'do when it grows in a bit more, but until then I have some updating to do, so here it is:
Overall my hair is now 2.8cm/1.03in long, so it's coming in pretty quickly, which is nice.
It will just take 2.5 years to get it back to its starting length... *sigh*
Oh well!
love you guys,
