New drug is new; WTH Good Wife?

Well, it was time to do something about the meds. Nothing was interesting, I've been isolating, and was having panic attacks even at home. Not good. So the doctor put me on Seroquel, be cause one mood stabilizer is not enough! I'm already on the highest dosage of the Cymbalta and Lamital, so this is the next thing since I can't switch from the Cymbalta. She asked if I wanted to try lithium, but that's a pain in the butt with blood tests every month.
Seroquel tends to make you sleepy. I managed to drag myself out of bed on Saturday after the first half-dose, but slept most of yesterday away. Two bottle of Pepsi kept me awake at work today. We'll see how I fare tomorrow. I have to watch my sugar and cholesterol with this stuff, and my weight, since weight gain is a side effect, too.

So this Wednesday with the second week since I sprained my ankle and scraped up my knee and two thirds of my calf. This is what I get for going walking and trying to be healthy. :sigh:
I was going to get back to walking this weekend, but with the new meds and the rain, it didn't happen.

I got a Fitbit a couple weeks back and it's been interesting the things I'm learning. First, I was working myself too hard for my age. My heart rate was too high at the pace I was going. Second, I didn't realize I was walking so much at work. Third, I'm restless a lot at night. I don't know if it's my restless leg syndrome or something else.

So The Good Wife is wrapping up its series, but someone needs to tell the writers that. They opened up all these storylines that are not going to be able to be resolved with the one show they have left. Will JDM's character Jason ride off into the sunset by himself? He keeps stealing my breath every time he smiles. So not fair. My brother just laughs and threatens to turn on the hose. Like that will help.

I had an idea for my photo op with Richard. Take my big suitcase, open it on the photo op floor and pretend like I'm kidnapping Richard and putting him in it. Heh heh heh.

More 'Burgh stuff for SPN Pittcon goers

Pittsburgh Goodie of the Day:
Everyone will ask you if you've had a Primanti Brothers sandwich. Make a little time to get one, there are several locations in the 'Burgh and the suburbs. Pittsburgh, where fries and coleslaw are condiments, not side dishes. The story behind the sandwich has to do with where the original Primanti's is located. The Strip District is the hub for everything under the sun, from vegetables to seafood, bread to pasta. Trucks stopped here to off-load their goods. Often the drivers wanted something to take on the road with them. Rather than doing the normal thing and keeping fries and coleslaw separate, the restaurant started putting them on the sandwiches to eliminate the drivers need to need forks to eat the coleslaw. So in a stroke of genius, they decided to add the fries as well to make a meal out of a sandwich.

The closest location to the convention center is the original location at 46 18th Street right off of Smallman Street, the main drag of the Strip District, a 15 minute walk away. The best part? This location is open 24/7 so it is the place to be after the bars close at 2:00 am. Alcohol is served, so if you're going to drink, have your ID. If you look under 30, they're going to card you.

Pittsburgese of the Day:

Yinz or yunz -- pronoun-- Pittsburgh version of y'all. Yinz goin' to Primanti's after last call?

Hiiiiii!!!!

Okay, SPN writers, that's just sooo wrong that you use the cicadas mating call in the ep the year they come out to mate. Just creepy.

We have locusts here every year, so that sound to me is kind of comforting, but it did creep me out as a kid. You heard them, but never saw them.

And thank you NCIS:New Orleans for casting Nick Lea! And putting him in a uniform. Yep, still hot.

69 days to SPN Pittsburgh con!!!! 69! Yes, my mind is still in the gutter. All tickets are still available, except for Silver. Considering we've only had half the time that most cons get to sell tickets, and it's the first ever stop in Pittsburgh, nearly 80% of the premium tickets are sold (Gold, Silver, Copper, Preferred Friday, Saturday, Sunday.) It's not a small con either. As of this writing, the seating charts shows 2,250 seats total.

Pittsburgh is a beautiful city. If we're a little defensive, it's only because people still think we're a smoky, dirty city, because of our steel mill history.

The con hotel the Omni William Penn was built in the 1920's and it's stunning and elegant.
See pics here.

But you need to know you might not understand the accent at times.

In upcoming entries I'm going to be hitting some places you need to see if you have the time.

I'm not going to put these in any particular order, all of them are great.

The first one is a a free one. If you're coming into town from the airport, you'll see it at no cost.
No video can do it justice, but I've posted one so you know what's coming.

Soooo . . .

I've been terrible about updating anywhere, because the AC port on my computer has been fritzy. I'm debating on whether it's worth it to have it fixed,
or just get a new one.

Wizard Con was fun. I'll have to post pics of my goodies, sooner or later, but I did want to share this pretty thing with you guys.

I loved David and Mitch's panel, they played off each other so well. David's humor is very dry and sarcastic, while Mitch's is wide open, nothing is off limits. Mitch talked a little about working with J2, all complimentary, and that he'd love to work on the show again. He also said he found out he was going to be in The X-Files reboot when David talked about it on one of the late night talk shows. Surprise! There wasn't much spoiler talk as far as the reboot is concerned, but David did mention Collapse )

You can view the whole panel here: https://youtu.be/75VJuCaiwd0

While I was down waiting for my photo op with David, Shatner was doing his panel. I was rather ambivalent about missing it. After all the things he's said about Trek fans and his fellow actors, the whole thing with his wife, not to mention missing Leonard Nimoy's funeral--how are you too busy to go to the funeral of a guy you've known for fifty years? Although there was talk that he was told to stay away. I did catch the last five minutes of the panel. He talked about filming the scene where Kirk died, and how that makes you think of your own mortality. He also explained Kirk's reaction. That he approached every new experience with this child-like wonder, and that included his own death.

Adam Baldwin and Jewel Staite from Firefly were great. When asked about what it was like to work with Jared and Jensen, and did they play any pranks on her. She said that they were very welcoming and inclusive even though they had been doing the show for so long, so genuine and sweet. She said that "Jared is a mini Nathan Fillion." Awwww! High praise indeed.

And on the subject of cons . . .

I'm disappointed that gold tickets to both Houston and Vegas have gone on sale already. Houston seemed like it was an intimate venue, and I've always wanted to visit the Space Center.
I've already done the Silver package, so I was looking forward to doing gold at least once. Seattle looks like it's downtown, and is a possibility. I'm wondering if they're going to add anymore next year, or they're done. Also, whose brilliant idea was it to have a con in Phoenix the first weekend in June? Way too hot.

Those who follow me on Facebook saw that Richard Speight Jr. replied to my post about him keeping me up past my bedtime to watch him guest star on CSI. I was so tickled. My love for him keeps growing. And Jim Beaver's daughter Maddie responded to my question that whether her freshly pink hair was dad approved. Jim finally posted a picture of her recently, and I admit I was a little surprised. I thought he'd wait a few more years, but I guess he decided she was going to do it herself sooner or later.

It's been a couple weeks since Texas Rising finished it's run, so I'm not going to put this behind a spoiler cut. I thought JDM's death scene would absolutely ruin me. Although it did pull at my heart, it was the scene where he had to put his horse down that hurt the most. Now I know why he looked so slender for Vegas con, he lost forty pounds for the role. Seeing him shirtless at the end of the series was scary. I could count way too many ribs, and there was hardly any muscle in his arms. I couldn't even enjoy the peek of the upper curve of his ass. I respect dedication to the craft, but not that much dedication.

Finally, my cousin had her second little girl this week, Natasha Shiloh. Where did my mind go? On Rocky and Bullwinkle, one of the villains is, you guessed it, Natasha. Everything goes back to Supernatural.

SPN blast from the past fic. Sam/Dean.

Reposted because dolnmoon doesn't remember reading it, and our trip to Vegas con reminded me I wrote it. Enjoy!

Title: Behind the Glass
Author: riveroceansea
Rating: Adult
Pairing: Sam/Dean
Size: 140 words
Disclaimer: The boys belong to Eric.
Summary: What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas . . .
Author Notes: From a prompt at comment_fic by hawk_dancing: SPN, Sam/Dean, luxury hotel

"God," Dean whispered. His sweaty palms were above his head, plastered to the window.

Sam pushed into him slowly until Dean was pressed completely against the floor-to-ceiling window. Then Sam settled into a rhythm of short quick jerks.

Sandwiched between the cool glass and the furnace of his brother's body, he came fast. Hard.

When the blood returned to his brain, he could feel Sam smiling against his skin.

"Nice of Bobby to give us his comps from the poker tournament," Sam murmured. "We couldn't have afforded the Luxor otherwise."

"I'm just glad for the reflective windows," Dean said, peeling himself away from the glass, "I'm all for a little exhibitionism, but the whole Vegas strip?"

Sam let out a laugh and flopped back on the huge bed.

"You're forgetting reflective glass isn't reflective at night with the lights on."

SPN Con '16

So, I've been debating on the next location for 2016's SPN con. Looks like it will be either Houston, which should be pleasantly cool in February, or Vegas again. My extra paycheck will be at the end of July, so the other question is will Houston go on sale before then? I'd love to go back to Nashville again, but at $184 a night for the hotel, that's not happening.

Texas Rising with JDM at 9:00 tonight on the History Channel, Bitches! Huge cast for this.

Went to see Tomorrowland yesterday. Great movie!

What I took away from it:

Father to daughter: Two wolves are fighting. One is evil. One is good. Which one wins? Whichever one you feed.
