Mon Colle Knight was one of my favorite shows as a wee tot and I'm glad to see it has a thriving fanbase albeit small. I really wish they would replay it again,~

For anyone who's been wondering, I haven't forgotten about this place. To be honest, this is the first time in months that I've so much as touched a computer outside of work. (I spend my days staring at computer screens for hours at a time, so I haven't been too keen on doing so in my free time.) Things are getting a little less hectic now, fortunately, so hopefully I'll be updating in the near future.

If Mon World and "Man World" had merged into one planet, territory originally part of Man World would count as, let's say, Neo Earth. It's recently occurred to me that as the Mon Colle Knights, Mondo and Rockna would have joined in the hunt for Osama bin Laden when the World Trade Center collapsed. First of all, consider their motto (the original might differ from this):

Mondo: To protect monsters from all evil,
Rockna: And keep the peace in Mon World,
Both: We are called the: Mon Colle Knights

Second of all, the middle of a Mon World war was exactly where the Knights found themselves in the first half of Pork Bellies and New Beginnings.

On the other hand, I'm sure that if there was more MCK fanfiction than there is, some authors would assume that they would have gone on with their lives like everyone else. Of course, if such events led to a potential end of civilization, they obviously would get involved.

(And for those of you fanauthors who I'm talking about, don't let me stop you from assuming such a thing. Hopefully, it won't be too out of character. I certainly hope it isn't.)

It's failing so far, so I joined this one so my fandom of this show never dies. My favorite Knight is Rockna because she's like me. Rock on. (No pun needed) & my favorite out of the inhabits there is of course Gambrillis! Woot!! MINE! Where did you find these pictures to make your avatars? Just wondering...

After an AIM conversation a couple of nights ago, I now have a Mon Colle Knights plotbunny nibbling at my brain. I really need to get the fool thing down on paper before it does too much damage. I can't afford to lose any more brain cells.

Believe it or not, it actually isn't a Zaha fic, either. It's a mildly slashy fic involving Collection. Count D from Petshop of Horrors is also trying to get into the act, albeit anonymously. Now, if I can just figure out how to get this to work believably, I'll be able to post it.

Now, for the real thing: On Page 1 of the fourth manga, someone looking like Rockna's mother appears in the background with Rockna herself. Let's refer to this person as Midori, the name given to her in the fanfic Whisper (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/543749…). TV Tome did mention that she appears in Prophecy of the Golden Dragon, but I asked both Adalia Glenys and another friend of mine about her, and they both said this is a mistake. I don't know what was said about her in the anime, but in the first manga volume, Hiragi did tell Rockna that she left because they don't spend enough quality time together. However, being realistic, divorce usually means that both parents will find someone else. If I were to include her in a fanfic, I would state that she was on an anthropological trip in New York while the series took place.

I tend to make a game of trying to identify voice actors across various cartoons or anime programs. Of course, in the case of Mon Colle Knight, that's a bit more difficult, since I have to struggle with the kanji in the end credits, but I get by (slowly).

Recently I discovered that Inoue Kazuhiko, who voiced Count Collection, also played the demon Ryuukotsusei on Inuyasha. Hearing that man so effectively voice such a dangerous character is just weird, not unlike hearing Koyasu's voice coming out of the mouth of Alucard von Mosquiton--it's such a bizarre contrast. Even when he was possessed by the spirit of the vampire, Collection wasn't that sinister.

I've also found that one of the angels was voiced by Junko Iwao, who also played Tomoyo on Card Captor Sakura; and it appears that Guuko was voiced by Yuka Imai, most familiar to me from her role as Inaho on Master of Mosquiton.

Well, finally I'm getting around to actually doing something with this community, after how many months?  Having a computer break down is a pain.

So far I have discs one and five through thirteen of the original series plus the Legendary Fire Dragon movie.  I also have three of the North American dub episodes--Secret Orbs and Spices, The End of Mon World as We Know It, and The Prophecy of the Golden Dragon.  It's just my usual luck that I got interested in the show just as Fox cancelled it, but I really do prefer the original Japanese.  In case you hadn't guessed from my icon, the evil angels are my favorite characters, particularly Zaha (Gabriolis in the dub).

Naturally, my favorite episodes include any featuring these two, but if I had to choose one I'd have to pick episode forty, in which Zaha experiences a major shift in his outlook.  ( minor spoilersCollapse )
