Experiencing Chatmonchy Live

It is very sad to say I've never heard a anime intro/ending live... until now.  This past march Chatmonchy did a in-store performance at Amoeba Records in Los Angeles.  Figuring that LA was just a couple hour drive away.  I decided to check it out.



Now I don't remember exactly how many songs they played.  But they all sound pretty dayam good.  It really felt like I was there for a concert, despite being in a aisle full of cds.  The icing on the cake though was when they performed their ending song to bleach Dai Dai.  That just did it for me. 

The minute I heard that song live, I could knock something off my to-do list.  I felt a little more complete.  It's too bad that I didn't bring a camera.  But luckily amoeba does record their show and post it online.  Once it goes online, I'll hook you guys up with the link.

And one last random thought.  Amoeba is spelled a MOE ba.  hahah get it?

OMG OMG OMG D'espairsRay Stuff Coming to America!

I just saw this great news on Shattered Tranquility.  Maru Music has just signed a agreement with SWORD Records for Releases and Merchandise.    The 3 bands they mentioned were D'espairsRay, Vidoll and DuelJewel.  I'm crossing my fingers that they release D'espairsRay first.  I would really like a CD of Coll:Set that I can own.  The article didn't disclose anything else like when their going to release stuff, but I'm still super excited.  BRING ON THE D'ESPAIRSRAY!

 

JDrama's I'm watching

After watching the obligatory JDrama's (Gokusen, Hana Yori Dango, Hana Kimi). I started venturing into JDrama's from some not so famous actors. I don't know what it is about JDrama's that get me engrossed in them, but I am. I'm currently watching 2 dramas right now and they are all worth watching. Check them out.

1. Konkatsu!


Say your person who doesn't have the best of luck. Say you went through life just missing that opportunity. Well this story is about one of those people. The story is about a gentleman named Amamiya Kuniyuki or Kuni for short. The son of a Tonkatsu shop owner, Kuni didn't have the best of luck, but he always pushed forward. Currently on a job hunt, Kuni was able to land a job with his local county on the stipulation that he was married. Kuni actually lies, saying he's going to be married in a couple months and ends up being hired. However his lie of being married turns into one big mess when his whole town believes that he's going to get married. With the president of the company wanting to make a speech at the wedding, Kuni has 3 months to find a bride before everything begins to unravel. So now Kuni is now on a marriage hunt, or in short... a Konkatsu.

If your a fan of a underdog story, you should check this drama out.

2. Perfect Girl Evolution



The live action version of the classic anime. Four good looking gentlemen live in a luxurious mansion. Now the owner of the mansion has given a proposition to the 4 guys. Teach her niece to act as a lady and live rent free, or pay 3 times the rent. Not knowing what they are getting themselves into, they discover that the niece named Sunako has a long way to go before she can be called a lady. Without getting into the story too much. The adventures of the 4 pretty boys and the one emo girl is good. With a mixture of new characters and the subtration of others. This story is set-up the usual way a JDrama is set-up.

I like both shows, and both shows are funny. If you guys have the chance, check these shows out.

And when I thought Darker Than Black Wasn't going to come back

Ok, after watching a bad excuse for a sequel called Darker Than Black: Ryuusei No Gemini. The good people who brought you Darker Than Black are back with some OVAs.

Let me just say that after watching the first OVA, I'm very excited to see when the next OVA will come out.

To give you a little idea of what's going on, the OVA shows how Hei and Yin try to escape from the syndicate. It also reveals some changes in Yin and the Dolls as well. I really do hope that they do extend this series a little more. With Hei actually having powers and not off his rocker in a drunken stupor.


X-Japan in Lollapalooza?!?

I found this little tidbit on Shattered Tranquility. So it looks like X-Japan will be performing at Lollapalooza.  I'm excited and skeptical at the same time about this news because how many times have X-Japan let us down in supposedly performing in the US.  It seems everytime they have a date scheduled and I get tickets, they end up cancelling. 

I was fortunate enough to check out the music video taping in Los Angeles last month.  Here's a pic from the set.

But yeah, I checked out the Lollapalooza website and the lineup hasn't been announced yet.  So this announcement by X-Japan could be a little premature.  They might do what Miyavi did for PMX last year and say they're going to perform but then cancel everything.

What do you guys think?  Do you think X-Japan will finally do a performance here in the US?  Or will they cancel like they always do.  Lollapalooza isn't until August.  So we have some time to ponder over this.
