Ballads

K-pop loves its sentimental ballads. Traditionally they haven't done much for me, but lately they've matched my melancholy mood. Here are a few that I have on heavy rotation.

If you think the first three sound a bit the same, you're right. They share a composer (Woozi) and he definitely has a certain style.

NU’EST W – 지금까지 행복했어요 (Baekho solo)

SEVENTEEN - 웃음꽃 (Smile Flower) (song starts at 1:23)

There are few things that the members of Seventeen enjoy more than imitating each other... and the solemnity really lends itself to teasing and mockery. There are some hilarious clips floating around YouTube of the results of that.

I.O.I - 소나기 (Downpour)

I.O.I was a temporary project group, and this was their last release before disbanding. Of course it's a sad one.

DAY6 - I Loved You

Ben - You (from the Healer OST)

I've told all of you to watch Healer, right? It's probably my favorite thing that I've watched this year.

한희정 (Han Hee Jung) – 꿈꾼다 (Dreaming)

Another OST song, this time from Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Ju.

Akdong Musician - Time and Fallen Leaves

This song was apparently almost added to their debut album, Play, but was left off because it didn't fit the album's spring vibe. It was released as a single later that year, in the fall.

I like the AKMU track. (TBH I haven't listened to the others yet!) Thanks.
