Three steps. Zero config.
Set it up in 30 seconds and never think about docs again.
1.Connect your repos
Install the GitHub App and select which repositories to document.
2.Push code like normal
Every commit and PR triggers RepoWrit's AI agent to analyze your changes.
3.Docs stay current
Get AI-generated docs, executive briefings, knowledge graph, developer scores, and semantic search — automatically.
Trusted by developers working with
Works with any language, framework, or stack — if it's on GitHub, RepoWrit documents it.
More than just READMEs
RepoWrit understands the intent behind your code, not just the diffs.
For Developers
Auto Documentation
Push code and documentation updates happen automatically. No manual triggers, no CI pipelines to configure. Works with any language or framework.
PR Review Assistant
Every pull request gets an AI review for architecture drift, hidden risks, and secret exposure — surfaced as inline review comments before the merge.
Semantic Search
Ask your codebase anything in plain English. "What security changes were made last month?" — results ranked by relevance with impact badges and developer attribution.
Knowledge Graph
A living map of how your codebase modules connect and evolve over time. Spot coupling, track architectural drift, and onboard new engineers faster.
For Engineering Leaders
Executive Summary
AI-powered briefings from three perspectives — CTO (tech debt & architecture), PM (effort distribution & efficiency), and Founder (knowledge moat & exit readiness). One dashboard, three lenses.
Developer Impact Scores
Quantified contribution quality per engineer — velocity, documentation coverage, risk footprint, and bus-factor exposure. Data-driven team conversations without micromanagement.
Architecture Mapping
Visual dependency map generated from your git history and file structure. Helps CTOs and senior engineers understand module coupling, spot risk hotspots, and accelerate onboarding.
Weekly Briefing Emails
Automated digest of every repo's activity delivered to your inbox each week. Catch regressions, track velocity, and stay aligned — without opening a dashboard.

How We Protect Your Data
We know AI reading your code sounds scary. Here's exactly how we keep your source code safe — we don't train on your code, period.
AI Training
NONE
Your code is never used to train any AI model — ever. Anthropic's zero-retention API.
Zero Storage
Diffs Discarded
Code diffs are processed in-memory and discarded immediately after doc generation.
Encrypted
In Transit
TLS everywhere. Hosted on Vercel & Supabase — both SOC 2 Type II certified infrastructure providers.
Scoped Access
GitHub App
Minimal permissions via official GitHub App — only reads diffs, never clones repos.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about RepoWrit.
- How does RepoWrit automatically generate documentation from my GitHub repo?
- RepoWrit installs as a GitHub App. When you push a commit, it receives a webhook, reads the diff, and sends it to Claude AI for analysis. Claude generates or updates your project documentation and opens a PR — all within seconds.
- Does RepoWrit train AI models on my code?
- Absolutely not. We use Anthropic's API with zero-retention settings. Your code diffs are processed in memory, used solely to generate documentation, and discarded immediately. We never store, log, or train on your source code.
- How does RepoWrit use Claude to understand my codebase?
- RepoWrit sends only the commit diff (not your full repo) to Claude AI. Claude analyzes the intent behind each change — what was added, removed, or refactored — and writes human-readable documentation that explains the 'why,' not just the 'what.'
- What is an Executive Summary and who is it for?
- The Executive Summary is an AI-generated daily or weekly digest of all development activity across your repos. It comes in three role-based views: CTO (tech debt & architecture risk), PM (velocity & feature progress), and Founder (knowledge moat & exit readiness).
- Can I use RepoWrit with any programming language?
- Yes. RepoWrit works with any language, framework, or stack on GitHub — TypeScript, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, and more. If GitHub can show the diff, RepoWrit can document it.
- What is the Knowledge Graph?
- The Knowledge Graph is a living map of how your codebase modules connect and evolve. It is built from your git history and file structure, and updates automatically with each push. Use it to spot architectural drift, understand coupling, and onboard new engineers faster.
- Does RepoWrit support teams and organizations?
- Yes. The Team plan includes multi-seat org access, developer impact scores, resourcing simulation, Jira integration, and org-wide analytics. Every member of your org gets a unified view across all repositories.
- What is Builder BYOK?
- Builder BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) lets you use RepoWrit at $4.99/mo by supplying your own Anthropic API key. You pay Anthropic directly for AI usage and RepoWrit only for the automation layer — ideal for developers who already have an Anthropic account.
- How much does RepoWrit cost?
- Hobby is free forever (5 doc generations/month). Builder is $14.99/mo, Scale is $44.99/mo, and Team is $20/seat/mo with all features unlocked including developer scores, knowledge graph, PR review, and org analytics. Builder BYOK is $4.99/mo if you bring your own Anthropic API key. See the pricing page for full details.
- How is RepoWrit different from Swimm or Stenography?
- Unlike Swimm (manual doc coupling) or Stenography (changelog-only), RepoWrit is a fully automated pipeline: push code, get docs, PR opened automatically. It also includes executive summaries, semantic search, knowledge graph, developer impact scores, PR review, architecture mapping, and weekly briefings — features no competitor offers in a single tool.
