Some days he thought drinking the potion was punishment for being - the way he was. Bitterness twisted his mouth and his eyes squeezed shut. Groping for
the table, he put down the smoking mug and he didn't open his
eyes until the nausea faded.

"Vile concoction. I almost suspect Severus of making it more awful than it needs to be just to be spiteful."

"Suspect?" Sirius tugged his arm, pulling him down to the bed.

Remus smiled. "He wouldn't. It's exactly as bad as it is because - "

" - of magical resonance," Sirius finished. "Resonate with me." He laughed and kissed Remus hard.

wrapped an arm around Remus' neck and kissed his cheek.

"Of course not-"

"He earns it," James said. "Always making fun of you two, and Wormtail
here, when he turned that raccoon into a slug."

"Not always," Remus said.

"Remus," Sirius said, pulling away.

"Look, I don't fancy him, all right?" Remus said sharply to Sirius. He
looked at James. "But there's no reason to bother him when he's reading a
book."

"If he bothers us-" James said.

"I'll never say another word."

"Anything for Moony," Sirius said.

Remus looked at Snape again and sighed.

Original Drabble: Back in Black

Remus consciously slowed his movements, trying to linger on every sensation, thinking irrelevantly of Homeric retardation.

There were new tattoos on Sirius' neck, prison tattoos; the ones on his chest seemed faded, or perhaps that was just the grey tint in his skin. There were scars across them-werewolf claws, Remus realized, and bent to kiss them.

"Moony," Sirius gasped, bucking his hips up; apparently he felt that Remus was neglecting his duties. "Stop thinking and fuck me already."

"I," Remus said, thrusting firmly, "can do both at once," but Sirius didn't seem to be listening. Which was fine by Remus, as it gave him a chance to admire the sight: Sirius, hair spread across the pillow, head thrown back in pleasure, mouth wet, open and panting... It was good to be back.

They lay out by the lake, side by side. The moon is a small crescent: waning. "What's it like?" Sirius asks him sleepily. "Not the change, just...all of it. Being you. You know."

Remus thinks for a moment, tries to make the truth less bleak. "Mum made me take her friend's daughter out all last summer. Every time I hoped she'd forget, but she never did. Always showed up with something caught in her teeth, as well. Really mucked up my summer."

Sirius laughs a bit. "If it were me," he says quietly, and their hands brush together, "I don't think I'd forget, either."

"Ah," Remus says, and smiles at the moon, "but you keep your teeth so clean."

wow -- the calendar totally tricked me. i did e-mail musesfool some time ago to get an extension, but then here i was thinking Hey, i'll have it done in time anyway. and then all this time i thought monday was the 8th, it wasn't anything of the kind. my apologies.

[tweaked a little @9:30 am EDT tuesday. nothing substantive -- switched out the summary, so i could use it as bookends, that's all. will stop now.]

Her smile was entirely too like Sirius'.

"I'm asking you," she said, and kissed him.

She kissed like Sirius, and instinct warred with control, but only briefly. He jerked away. It hurt more than he expected. She laughed.

"An eloquent Gryffindor answer." She laughed again when he turned his back.

The sound followed him to class.

The title is from William Wordsworth's "To Sleep," and therefore is indicative of his creativity rather than mine. Thanks to Amber and Circe, who read this over and told me that it didn't suck. However, I never fail to tinker with things, therefore all the little errors are my fault.
