One or two people in 1000 are affected by Parkinson's disease (PD); however, incidence risk increases with age, affecting 1%-2% of people older than 65 years. After Alzheimer's disease, PD is the second most common progressive neurologic disorder. Although PD is often known for physical symptoms as a movement disorder related to the pathologic tremors it can cause, PD also produces other physical symptoms, such as postural instability, and nonmotor symptomatology, such as depression and cognitive impairment. PD can be especially challenging to diagnose in younger patients and when it presents with less common symptoms.
Take this quick quiz to test your knowledge of the most recent research into the diagnosis, management, and treatment of PD.
