always amuses me when I hit a dead or unavailable link XDDDD
I knew I'd got quite obsessive with collecting Sindy dolls a few years ago but I really had no idea how bad it was ... until now ... 5 big boxes of stuff and a couple of bags! Oh dear!
So, I've made a decision - I'm keeping all the original 60s and 70s Pedigree era Sindy stuff (why oh why did I let it all go when I was a child?) I was rather chuffed to discover I have the full ORANGE bathroom set - including the shower and the toilet! hahahaha And the original bedroom suite. And the caravan (2nd version I think, but I'll need to check) Really, really need the jeep that goes with it! I have a few other bits and pieces I'd completely forgotten about too - I've spent a happy few hours of discovery hehe I even have a Paul! *happy bounce* Even if he is the modern one, it still counts! Wish I could find my knitting patterns though - I used to have quite a few of those ...
So now I have 2 boxes of original furniture that needs cleaning, most of which is still in excellent condition. 3 original Sindys - blond, dark and pink! (I want a redhead dammit!) and 1 new style, just for the sake of it really. Tons of clothes, some of which I (sadly?) know the design name of: Sweet Dreams, Sweet Sunshine, Rainy Days etc etc (is this a bit sad? probably ... but it's a huge part of my childhood so I don't care.)
And I'm going to sell off all the Barbies and various other dolls I have (and try not to spend any money gained buying back all the stuff I still want from ebay). I really didn't realise how many dolls I had - at least 6 Barbies, 3 Kens, Skipper and Stacy, various friends, quite a few Princess dolls too. All the clothes and furniture items will also go. Barbie is too damn pink for me, and I like pink so that statement in itself may come as a surprise. Actually, it's not just the pink, it's the vapid plastic smile. Sindy was always my favourite. I think that's why I got rid of most of mine in the early 80s - apart from feeling too grown up for dolls (oh how little did I know!) - this was the point when Sindy moved to Hasbro and had a pink injection. Nothing was quite the same after that. It's going to be hard parting with some of the others though ... I may keep the odd one ...

I had such an odd dream last night - I was checking out cats and dogs from a rescue home, but they had to come and live with me for a while. Though it wasn't my house at all but an amalgam of older homes and my Nana's carpet *yuk* And you chose them from the Tv screen then they were sent through this bizarre fax contraption, plopping out onto the carpet and going 'woof' or 'mew', which was really cute! There was a beautiful white cat with faint ginger/gold markings called Emma and she was definitely going to stay - she didn't like the crunchies I had but I promised her fish crackers and then she was happy! And she was called Emma because of Jane Austen, so she was very happy that I liked her favourite author. And dogs too - I'm really not a dog person - there was a mangy Chiuaua (how do you spell that? I don't care!) with a head scarf and a pink bandana round its neck - which it wouldn't let me remove. I'm standing there, hands on hips going 'but it looks so stupid!' and the dog is 'I don't care!' so it had to go. But there was a cute scottie type dog, chocolate coloured called Shandy (which was the name of the chocolate-coloured scottie dog my Nana's friend had when I was very small) and he was giving me cuddles - proper, put your arms round someone's neck and hug them to death cuddles! And I declared 'Your name shall be Bruce the third!' and he was so happy and stayed with me. ( I should point out that Bruce was a toy dog I had as a child and I now have Bruce 2)
There are strange men outside my house (they're painting) I'm so pleased I was already awake - that would have totally freaked me out to find a ladder landing outside my bedroom window! XD
watching Furin Kazan (again ... one of these days I'll actually get to the end of the series) Itagaki's death - so good, so moving - it must be the third time I've watched it and I'm in tears as usual. It's so well done and takes up almost a quarter of the episode *sniffs* Itagaki is played by Chiba Shinichi (also known as Chiba Sonny) who is awesome...
anyway you all MUST watch this you must! you must! *sniffs* back to the action ...
There's obviously another air show on at Duxford today - we've had 9 First World War biplanes in formation - including one done up as the Red Baron's plane (very cool), then a huge fighter jet doing flips and loops, a couple of Lancaster Bombers from WWII and the Red Arrows team again and some others.
I did try to take pics as they were literally skimming the rooftop at points but I'm a terrible photographer/they went too fast/ the pics were all fuzzy *meh*
the noise is ridiculous but they look great - I ended up out in the garden, hacking back the rose bush and honeysuckle from next door and occaissionally sticking my fingers in my ears and gazing at the sky (and occassionally cowering as the noise was terrific!)
