Holy Angstville, Batman! I'd forgotten about this Ratchet flashback scene, and good golly. I played around with posting it separately (because also, structurally, two big flashback chapters in a row? but there was really no where else to put it...), but it does fill in a lot of backstory, and so I left it as it was. Just remember, IT ALL TURNS OUT MOSTLY OK IN THE END, K? Free hugs for everyone.

This week's writing time has been somewhat disrupted by four very tiny baby bunnies and two honey bee stings! I get a delayed flu-type reaction to honey bees for some reason, so spent most of Thursday shivering and huddled under a bunch of blankets in the middle of August, with a left hand that looked like an inflated rubber glove. Got stung again on Friday, but managed to stave off the worst of the reaction with copious dosing of Benadryl and Ibuprofen - I've been achy and tired today, and kind of spaced out from the Benadryl, but otherwise functional. So, fairly sizable chapter here, but much less editing and poking than I had planned to do - I'm going to go ahead and post it though, and maybe edit it more later :)

So so much for having any writing time this week! Second wave of wildlife (including a groundhog who just needed a few days to recover and five tiny possumlets), Perseid program, big volunteer appreciation party, boss on vacation so I got to wrangle several contracts and dilemmas, departing volunteer coordinator so I got to take over lots of her duties, too, whew! So pulling out my pinch hitter fic, so sorry. Exploration of alien robot spawning methods will have to wait a bit longer ^^

This is the fic I started writing way back in...2008? Of all-by-himself sadsverse First Aid, except then I wanted to do a little background piece on his brothers and it turned into Protectobot Beginnings and consumed my brain for the next several years, lol. My main frustration has been trying to retrofit everything, since my headcanon for the Protectobots and the Twins and other characters has changed and evolved over the years, so some of the characterizations may seem a little inconsistent.
