It's a whole possum posse!
Last Thursday someone brought me a mom opossum who'd been hit by a car - she was still alive, but her injuries were so bad it would have been cruel to keep her alive. She did, however, have ten teeny babies in her pouch - 10 grams each (The Smidge, by comparison, was about 8 grams when she arrived). All ten are doing surprisingly well - those extra two grams mean I can get a tube into their bellies to feed them, and since they went straight from the pouch to the incubator they didn't get chilled like most orphan babies. The Decaposse has joined the Seven Sisters, who are also doing very well:

I can only find 16, but I think number 17 was hiding under the three big doobers in the upper left.

These pictures are from the day they arrived - since then the dinks have grown a bit of barely there fuzz. I can hold five at a time, and it feels like a handful of soft, warm, squirmy rose petals, with little grabby pricky toeses ^^
Don't get too attached, now. They still have a long way to go, and teenies like this can have issues later on, but so far so good. If I can keep up with the feeding schedule (four times a day, I can feed the whole batch in 30 minutes if I have to, now that I've got a routine), they have a reasonable chance.
The big kids are starting to groom and yawn and occasionally attempting to walk instead of squirm. D'aw, just like the big possums <3
Between the little squirmy things and spring work craziness, I'm not always keeping up with the f-list, so if you don't hear from me don't worry, I still luvs ya'll ^_^ And poke me if I miss something important! With a big stick!
