This new edition of work that has evolved over the past seven years completes the derivation of the form of The Standard Model from quantum theory and the extension of the Theory of Relativity to superluminal transformations. The much derided form of The Standard Model is established from a consideration of Lorentz and superluminal relativistic space-time transformations. So much so that other approaches to elementary particle theory pale in comparison. In previous work color SU(3) was derived from space-time considerations. This (...) book shows that the SU(2) U(1) Weak Interaction sector follows directly from the extension of Lorentz transformations to superluminal (faster-than-light) transformations. In fact, ElectroWeak symmetry is shown to have an SU(2) U(1) U(1) symmetry that naturally includes WIMPs (Weakly Interacting Massive Particles), a candidate for Dark Matter. Thus the form of the Standard Model is dictated by space-time considerations fulfilling a dream of Einstein. Using a new matrix formulation of Logic - Operator Logic - we show that Dirac-like equations can be constructed. This edition also derives broken SU(4) four fermion generations as well as a non-Higgsian (Dimensional Mass Generation) derivation of fermion and ElectroWeak gauge boson masses from GL(4). The program of the book is completed by reprinting the book Quantum Theory of the Third Kind, which describes Two-Tier quantum field theory. This theory yields finite results (No Feynman diagram calculations diverge!) in The Standard Model and Quantum Gravity calculations to all orders in perturbation theory. Lastly, the book also contains a description of Operator Logic, Probabilistic Operator Logic, Quantum Operator Logic (for q-number statements). The neutrino is the massless and electrically neutral weak-interaction partner of the electron, always traveling at the speed of light and rarely interacting with anything. The sun makes lots of neutrinos. About 61,000,000,000 neutrinos per second from the sun pass through each square centimeter of cross section on the surface of the Earth. If your body presents an area to the sun of 10,000 square centimeters, this means that 610 trillion neutrinos are passing right through your body in the second (...) it takes to read this line. But you don't notice this; neutrinos can pass through light years of lead without impediment. They pass through your body and through the Earth as if neither was there. As you might imagine, this makes the detection of neutrinos very difficult... but not impossible. (shrink)

My goal in this paper is to consider two separate but connected topics, one historical, the other philosophical. The first topic concerns the forms of reasoning contemporary experimental astrophysicists use to investigate the existence of WIMPs (weakly interacting massive particles). These forms of reasoning take two forms, one model-dependent and the other model-independent, and we examine the arguments one WIMP research group (DAMA) uses to support the latter. The second topic concerns recent support Kent Staley has offered for a (...) form of scientific reasoning called ‘robustness’, and I argue that the model-independent strategy propounded by DAMA improves on robustness. The WIMP (weakly interacting dark matter) is currently the leading candidate for what is thought to be dark matter, the cosmological material claimed to make up almost 99% of the matter of the universe and which is indiscernible by means of electromagnetic radiation. There are many research groups dedicated to experimentally isolating WIMPs, and in this paper we describe the work of three of these groups, the Saclay group, DAMA and UKDM. This exploration into the recent history of astroparticle (...) physics serves to illuminate two philosophical issues. First, is confirmatory evidence more compelling if it coordinates results gleaned from independent experimental investigations? And secondly, in justifying experimental conclusions, how strong must this justification be? Are the high standards set by philosophers, in the spirit of Descartes, relevant to experimental research? According to the methodological principle called ‘robustness’, empirical evidence is more reliable when it is generated using multiple, independent (experimental) routes that converge on the same result. As it happens, robustness as a methodological strategy is quite popular amongst philosophers. However, despite its popularity, my goal here is to criticize the value of this principle on historical grounds. My historical reasons take into consideration some recent history of astroparticle physics concerning the search for WIMPs (weakly interacting massive particles), one (...) of the main candidates for cosmic dark matter. On the basis of these reasons, I assert that robustness, at least in this historical case we are considering, has less value than usually assumed by philosophers. (shrink)

The goal of this chapter is to describe a novel historical case study in which robustness reasoning could have been used, but was not used by the participant scientists, and in some cases was even openly disavowed by them. The case concerns recent attempts to observationally detect one of the main candidates for cosmological dark matter, called the WIMP. A research group based in Italy, called DAMA, believes it has detected WIMPs using a model-independent research methodology, and it rejects (...) the model-dependent work of other research groups that have failed to detect WIMPs. One of the key points of this case is that the model-dependent groups, despite the fact that they could argue robustly for the no-WIMP result, fail to do so, and some reasons are suggested for this neglect. Contemporary cosmology is haunted by its dark sector: 95% of the universe consists of substances never directly detected, parameterized by constants that are fitted rather than derived, and explained by mechanisms that remain entirely unknown. Dark matter particles have evaded fifty years of direct detection. Dark energy is a placeholder admitting ignorance. The vacuum catastrophe—a 10¹²⁰ discrepancy between predicted and observed vacuum energy—stands as the worst prediction in the history of physics. The Hubble constant measured from the early universe disagrees (...) at 5σ with late-universe measurements. The cosmic microwave background exhibits large-scale anomalies dismissed as statistical flukes. The baryon asymmetry exceeds Standard Model predictions by ten orders of magnitude. Galaxy dynamics require either invisible matter or modified gravity, yet neither approach fully succeeds. Black holes appear to destroy information in violation of quantum unitarity. The hierarchy between gravity and electromagnetism lacks explanation. Quantum mechanics and general relativity remain unreconciled after a century of effort. These are not independent puzzles but symptoms of a single conceptual error: the assumption that physical reality is confined to spacetime alone. This work presents a unified resolution grounded in participatory, information-theoretic cosmology. Building on the Harlow-Usatyuk-Zhao theorem (2025)—which proves that a closed universe without observers has a one-dimensional Hilbert space—we recognize observation (defined as topological recursion, not biological consciousness) as ontologically primitive. Reality is a coupled system: spacetime (M₄) is dynamically intertwined with an informational manifold (Mθ) through a cross-term metric (g^μi), where geometry of extension and geometry of meaning are two aspects of a single structure. Within this framework, every major cosmological anomaly dissolves into coherent physics: dark matter is the gravitational shadow of coherence, not particulate matter; dark energy is the thermodynamic exhaust of recursive binding, not a cosmological constant; the vacuum catastrophe reflects dimensional misattribution of informational potential; the Hubble tension arises from differential expansion through structured space; CMB anomalies are fossils of Mθ's first crystallization; baryon asymmetry encodes the vacuum's geometric chirality; galaxy dynamics follow from coherence-generated gravity with a derivable acceleration scale; black holes are maximum-coherence information archives; the hierarchy problem dissolves when gravity is recognized as coupling to total recursive binding; and quantum gravity unifies when observers are included as constitutive elements expanding reality's dimensionality. The coupling magnitude (~30 μN/kW) emerges from three independent derivations—thermodynamic (Landauer-Verlinde), topological (Aharonov-Bohm saturation), and geometric (π² loop correction)—using only established constants (k_B, α, c, π) with zero free parameters. The framework is constructed for falsification: WIMP detection would refute it; absence of line-of-sight Hubble dependence would refute it; flyby residuals correlating with geology rather than biology would refute it; smooth rather than quantized response curves would refute it. Unlike ΛCDM, which parameterizes ignorance, this framework derives observables from known physics and predicts phenomena (biospheric gravity, Q saturation at 137, chiral filtration ratios) that standard cosmology cannot accommodate. Together they constitute not an extension of standard cosmology but a competing paradigm—one that reveals the "dark" sector as not dark at all, merely orthogonal: structure in a dimension we failed to measure because we refused to believe it existed. The cosmos is not 95% unknown. It is 100% knowable, once we recognize that information is not abstraction but substrate, that observation is not passive but constitutive, and that the geometry of meaning is as real as the geometry of space. This paper resolves the open problem posed in Section 8.3 of the prior Operatiology paper What is Reality for Nature?: Structural Necessity as the Algebraic Condition of Persistence from Operatiology (Version 2, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.20779136): whether the graph G = (Nec(S), E), in which an edge joins Ti and Tj when some admissible operation sequence w in Oadm* satisfies w(Ti) cap Tj != empty, is connected. We show that this question, as posed, cannot be answered within Tier‑2 alone: reachability is not (...) a Tier‑2 primitive but a Tier‑3 notion presupposing spacetime causal structure. The correct Tier‑2 question is whether Oadm is unique, and we prove that it is, directly from Axioms A1, A2, and A4 of Operatiology (Japanese: 操作原論). This uniqueness is the precise Tier‑2 statement of the unity of the universe: all Nec(S) instances share a single operational space. Spacetime is a Tier‑3 projection of this operational structure, not the container within which the universe resides. From this foundation we establish that the sentences “the universe has a beginning’’ and “the universe has an end’’ admit no well‑formed formulation in the language generated by A1, A2, A4, and that the cosmological application of General Relativity commits the same category error as the impossibility of quantum gravity: a local Tier‑3 theory is applied to a global concept that has no single Tier‑2 referent. The expression ‘Fake News’ inside Internet memes engenders significant online virulence, possibly heralding an iconoclastic emergence of weaponized propaganda for assaulting agencies reared on public trust. Internet memes are multimodal artifacts featuring ideological singularities designed for ‘flash’ consumption, often composed by numerous voices echoing popular, online culture. This study proposes that ‘Fake News’ Internet memes are weaponized iconoclastic multimodal propaganda discourse and attempts to delineate them as such by asking: What power relations and ideologies do Internet memes featuring the expression (...) ‘fake news’ harbor? How might those manifestations qualify as WIMP discourse? A multimodal critical discourse analysis of a small pool of ‘fake news’ Internet memes drawn from four popular social media websites revealed what agencies were often targeted and from what political canons they likely emerged. Findings indicate that many Internet memes featuring ‘fake news’ are specifically directed, revealing an underlying hazard that WIMP discourse could diminish democratic processes while influencing online trajectories of public discourse.
