New prospects for mankind in searching for and developing new sources of energy, arms race, overcrowding and ecological crises present the human with a serious choice. The choice may relate to the further existence of people on Earth. In the context of most challenging political, economic and social crises, the tandem of natural and human sciences produces unexpected results, despite the crises accompanying these processes. This article presents a model of the society and a model of the human in the (...) systemic parametrical aspect. The human is considered as part of the “society” system. The research suggests applying the systems parametric method developed by Prof. A. Uyemov in the 1960s. Humanity creates increasingly frequent bifurcation conditions for human life. As an adaptive mechanism, the human has to develop survival strategies and well-being strategies. The paper presents some aspects of the adaptive mechanisms of the 21st century man. It also considers some threats arising out of environmental variability. Cyborgization is one of such threats. The research includes dual system modelling of the “society” system based on the complementarity principle. It shows that there are two definitions which have different concepts, structures and substrates but constitute the entirety of the object of interest. (shrink)

Characterizing the first- and third-person perspectives is essential to the study of consciousness, yet we lack a rigorous definition of or criteria for these two perspectives. Our intuitive understanding of how personal pronouns help to specify the perspectives gives rise to mutually exclusive notions of the first-person perspective. This contradiction thwarts our progress in studying consciousness. We can resolve the current ambiguity of the first-person perspective by introducing a new distinction between the first-person and third-person perspectives, based on two modes (...) of consciousness: reflective and non-reflective. Against the background of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the question of an effective cultural policy that would support national identity, contribute to the purification of consciousness from propaganda myths and preserve the heritage of Ukrainian culture is becoming more acute. Since cultural policy is related to both aesthetic-artistic and cultural-anthropological dimensions of social life, in order to identify the effective influence of cultural policy on dominant social practices, it is necessary to find out the universal principles of its functioning. (...) The purpose of this article is to identify the relevant philosophical and methodological basis of cultural policy for modern Ukrainian realities. Based on the fundamental ideas of Richard Rorty’s pragmatic philosophy and his analysis of cultural policies, the generally accepted nature of the inferential approach to social reality on the part of individual social groups was ascertained. The variability of cultural policy depending on the type of social organization community/society is demonstrated. In small social groups of the authoritarian type, social epistemological authority is mediated by the individual preferences of the leader of this group, so the tools of cultural policy are weak (patriarchal family, religious or political sect). An authoritarian or totalitarian mass society shows a high propensity for linguistic practices of propaganda, which can be seen as an extreme distorted form of cultural politics. In democratic societies, cultural policy is able to harmonize social life, improving its practices and building a value-symbolic world that constitutes culture in a broad sense. The social institute of education has all the tools, including digital ones, to shape the necessary social practices and educate a critical thinker who is able to generate conceptual knowledge, i.e. see relationships and be aware. Openness in decision-making, interaction of expert groups, public discussions are necessary elements for an effective cultural policy, which should be different from “cultural management”. Creative cultural industries play an important role in modern popular culture societies, and these industries significantly strengthen the economic component of social life. Public projects and initiatives effectively help to preserve Ukrainian culture, influence the level of awareness of Ukrainians and the economic well-being of our country. (shrink)

I show that the way to understand the substance of money is to analyze its meaning as a medium of exchange in connection with its meaning as a purpose of exchange, thereby providing an investigation of its social value. This approach has been used by many of the great philosophers and economists of the past, but not today. Background Healthcare providers (HCPs) play a pivotal role in shaping access to and ethical deliberation around fertility preservation. While fertility preservation due to oncological and non-oncological diseases is widely accepted, its use for other reasons, such as career development, gender transition, or military deployment, raises ethical and professional questions. This study aimed to explore the attitudes of HCPs in Portugal towards fertility preservation across different indications and to identify professional factors associated with variations in perceived support. Methods We conducted a (...) cross-sectional observational study using an anonymous online questionnaire administered via Lime Survey between October 2024 and March 2025. A total of 298 HCPs working in Portugal were recruited through judgment sampling. Data on HCPs’ level of agreement with the use of fertility preservation for eight indications, as well as on their sociodemographic and professional characteristics, were collected. Descriptive analyses and bivariate comparisons were performed to explore levels of support and associated factors. Results Support for fertility preservation was highest for cancer (96.3%), infertility (93.3%), benign diseases (91.3%), prevention of genetic diseases (86.3%), and age-related fertility loss (79.8%). In contrast, lower levels of support were observed for gender transition (50.7%), career development (44.3%), and active military service or deployment (41.9%), with approximately one-third of participants expressing neither agree nor disagree positions. Attitudes towards these ethically more contested indications were significantly associated with professional characteristics, including involvement with peers and patients, occupation group, working setting, and years of experience. Conclusion HCPs in Portugal show strong support for fertility preservation in diseases contexts but reveal ambivalence regarding its use for gender transition, career development, and military purposes. This variability reflects ongoing attitudinal uncertainty and suggests that professional experience and clinical context may influence ethical positioning. Targeted educational and ethical reflection initiatives may help support HCPs in addressing the ethical, social, and technical complexities associated with fertility preservation across different contexts. Following the tradition of approaching the populist actor as a sign in socio-cultural communication and political populism as an ontological process of political action, according to Ernesto Laclau, this article shifts attention to the digital environment, where effective contemporary populist discourse unfolds. Populist practices extend beyond political action and are embodied in the public communication of contemporary celebrities, a phenomenon that has become especially evident in the age of social media. To identify the essential characteristics of the political populist and (...) the digital environment within a single theoretical framework, this study employs the methodology and conceptual foundations of Luciano Floridi’s philosophy of information, which allows the political populist to be considered as an informational organism (inforg) in new conditions of existence—the infosphere. Considering the conceptual separation of intelligence and activity, understood as the agency of new artifacts driven by artificial intelligence, the author draws an analogy, revealing the configurational affordances of the infosphere for the political populist, who, like algorithm-driven artificial artifacts, adapts to external stimuli coming from micro-audiences in digital networks in search of maximum popular approval. An ontological affinity between the informational entities of the populist and the artificial artifact is identified, based on their shared characteristic—agency—which is planned outcomes of the technologies. Thus, digital culture shapes new practices of daily activity, political representation, and communication, while also creating challenges for humans in the realm of responsibility and control over their own lives. The study demonstrates that populism serves as a distinctive marker of transformations in the socio-cultural space within the digital infosphere, and that new life practices of digital culture indicate a re-ontologization of our existence. Theorizing about children’s early development is beset with interpretational complexities. I argue that there is a general tendency to over-interpret the experimental findings, and that one of the main causes of this is the difficulty of disengaging from our adult frame of reference when theorizing about the young child’s mind. One domain where this holds is children’s ability to differentiate themselves from others. In relation to this I first critically analyze some cases of interpretational complexities, and then apply my methodological (...) and conceptual concerns to children’s perspective-taking abilities. This has a specific bearing on the classical false-belief task, which is a perspective-taking task. Part II proposes a new, what I call, a ‘Piagetian reading’ of the false-belief test. My new interpretation of the test suggests two different ways of perspective-taking of which one is egocentric in Piaget’s sense. Concluding Part III elaborates on some implications of the proposed reading of the test for a number of findings in the Theory-of-Mind field. (shrink)

Currently the recidivism rate in Ukraine. This indicates failure to achieve the goal of punishment – correction of the convict. The purpose of the article is to research the problems of resocialization of convicts, taking into consideration the psychological characteristics of the person serving the sentence. The subject of research: the subject of research is the resocialization of convicts. The following scientific methods were used to study the international experience of resocialization of convicts, to prove the hypotheses, to formulate conclusions: (...) dialectical method, monographic method, logical method, comparative method, generalization method, system and structural method. The results of the research: it was found out that serving a certain term of imprisonment or life imprisonment affects convicts and leads to a change in their psychology in completely different ways. It is proved that the process of resocialization should be set up during the selection of convict’s type and size of punishment (taking into account the circumstances of the case, the perpetrator personality and criminogenic risks that may contribute to recidivism), continue during punishment (using training, work and communication, and providing psychological support to overcome possible psychological crises) and finish after the release from penitentiary institutions (with control over the released, employment assistance or the provision of temporary residence). Şerif Mardin and Nilüfer Göle have left traces of high reference value in Turkish sociology, whose echoes still continue. When it comes to their attempts to understand and make sense of Turkish modernization and the perspective they put forward, it can be said that the two names make undeniable contributions to the literature on their approaches. The concepts they use, the discourses, the fictions they put forward, the emphasis on the triangulation points of Turkish modernization, the micro and macro theoretical (...) approaches make the two thinkers similar at some points and differentiate them at some points. The aim of this study is to comparatively analyze the fictions of the two leading figures who come to the fore with their political, historical and socio-cultural analyzes on the depiction of Turkish modernization, on the axis of the “discourses” they use. In this context, literature review was used. The study consists of two main parts. In the first part, the concepts that are the basic building blocks of the Turkish modernization fictions of the two thinkers are discussed. Then, the general theoretical framework of Turkish modernization is presented by comparing the two thinkers. In the second part, the fictions of the two thinkers are depicted by comparing Turkish modernization fictions on the axis of their prominent discourses. It is encountered with a fiction in which center-periphery separation, historical and socio-cultural continuities, integration under the roof of the “nation-state”, a top-down and projected political structure are emphasized. At the same time, the reflections of the multidimensional relationship between these elements and the phenomenon of “religion” are presented within the framework of the relevant discourses. It is concluded that both thinkers characterize the phenomenon of “religion” as a dominant element in the Turkish modernization experience constructs. Information technologies, globalization process, active migration processes, political conflicts and other factors are transforming the modern world, forcing society to adapt to these new realities. Globalization, on the one hand, promotes the expansion of civic identity and the formation of a new type of citizenship, and on the other hand, it can lead to the loss of cultural diversity and global colonialism. The study examines the concept of citizenship and its impact on modern society in the context of globalization and (...) transformations of the world order. Citizenship is one of those concepts whose content defines the relationship between an individual and his state and nation. Civil identification is directly related to the self-identification of a person. On the one and, globalization, and on the other hand, global political instability actualize the problems of citizenship, forcing us to turn to the analysis of the content of the concept itself. The purpose of the work is to consider different interpretations of the concept of “citizen” and “citizenship” in both domestic and foreign studies. The author focuses on the fact that in Russian scientific discussions the concept of citizenship is often associated with patriotic education, while in the Western tradition the emphasis is on democratic values. A contextual analysis of the statements of thinkers, educators, and public figures of the 18th century - the era of the spread of the concept of “citizen” in Russia - allowed us to see how the content of the concept was formed in the Russian tradition, to clarify its ambiguity in the process of filling in additional meanings and meanings. Despite the change of epochs and some semantic changes, the continuity of the understanding of citizenship in the Russian pedagogical tradition remains. Disclosure of the content of the concepts of “citizen” and “citizenship” is necessary to define the goals and objectives of programs aimed at civic education. The analysis has shown that the concept of citizenship in the Russian context has historically developed specific connotations associated with the ideological constants of the Russian people, the inclusion of moral and capacious personality qualities in its content. Historical figures and thinkers form the concept of a citizen as a morally responsible and devoted person, emphasizing the importance of serving society. This idea is becoming central to the formation of Russian identity and mentality. (shrink)

The present article deals with reported speech as an element of argumentation in the newspaper discourse of Great Britain viewed in the unity of its syntactic and semantic characteristics and argumentative functions. Theoretically, the research is based on the dialogic understanding of quotations, the dialogue theory by Bakhtin and contemporary argumentation theory. The proposed integral approach to reported speech combining linguistics with logic and argumentation theory revealed the relations between purely linguistic characteristics of reported speech with its functioning in argumentative (...) discourse of contemporary British press. This historical essay presents an analysis of the origins and development of modern pharmacognosy in Ukraine and explores the founding and development of the Department of Pharmacognosy at the National University of Pharmacy (NUPh, Kharkiv), providing an overview of the department`s history, a framework of its educational and methodological processes, primary research directions, and its main achievements. The paper also includes biographical data and outlines the main scientific and pedagogical achievements of prominent individuals who made a significant contribution to the (...) development and formation of pharmacognostic and pharmaceutical science and education in Ukraine. Over the years, the staff of the pharmacognosy department has authored and published 14 monographs, 8 standard training programs, 25 textbooks, practical guides, and training manuals, 47 lecture notes, and 103 educational and methodological developments. Furthermore, 16 doctoral and 77 candidate theses have been defended at the Department of Pharmacognosy. The staff has also secured 63 author’s certificates and 171 patents, and published about 1,050 articles, 1,060 abstracts, and 16 monographs. In addition, the department has developed numerous medicinal products and therapeutic as well as preventive items that have been introduced into medical practice. These achievements create a solid background for the department’s fruitful development and future success. (shrink)

Age peculiarities of attention, thinking, emotional state and memory cause the problems of the adaptation of junior pupils when they move to middle classes. The change of the rhythm of work, complication of the forms and methods of teaching, study of new subjects, textbooks that are inadequate to the curricula create additional psychological load. The success of the pupil's adaptation to the new stage of school life depends upon the level of professional and pedagogical competence of teachers; cooperation of teachers (...) with school psychologists; orientation to the zone of the nearest development of third-form pupils; taking into account age and individual psychological characteristics of children. The system-parametric method developed by A. Uyemov allows creating a model of the contemporary bifurcational reality. There are many terms adopted from other sciences which are often used in postmodern philosophy. Bifurcation is one of such terms adopted from synergetics. In this article emphasis is placed on the contemporary time which is bifurcational in its essence. Using the key thesis of the systems method which states that any object can be presented as a system, we propose to create a model (...) of social ladenness. The mere fact that ladenness exists, makes the system of crisis nature. The social ladenness is defined using system descriptors. This definition contains the concept, the structure, and the substrate of the object and analysis of their elements. Consistence and hierarchical arrangement of the descriptors is the social ladenness model under discussion. The elements identified in the social ladenness model are the economic, political, technical, ecological, religious, creative and bifurcation impact. We identified some markers of human existence in the community system. The coronavirus pandemic is used as an example to demonstrate the way the bifurcation society system model can be built in order to find solutions to overcome the social and individual crises. Extraordinary extended lampbrush chromosomes with thousands of transcription loops are favorable objects in chromosome biology. Chromosomes become lampbrushy due to unusually high rate of transcription during oogenesis. However, until recently, the information on the spectrum of transcribed sequences as well as genomic context of individual chromomeres was mainly limited to tandemly repetitive elements. Here we briefly outline novel findings and future directions in lampbrush chromosome studies in the post‐genomic era. We emphasize the fruitfulness of combining genome‐wide approaches with microscopy imaging (...) techniques using lampbrush chromosomes as a remarkable model object. We believe that new data on the spectrum of sequences transcribed on the lateral loops of lampbrush chromosomes and their structural organization push the boundaries in the discussion of their biological role. The article investigates the issue of determination of activity as a social phenomenon in the context of the archetypal-value approach and proposes a methodology for analyzing social phenomena based on it. In particular, the principles of traditional praxeological and innovative archetypal-value approaches to activity are compared and common and distinctive features in their methodology are singled out. It is believed that the archetypal-value approach is relevant for the analysis of socio-cultural activities, because it takes into account three projections in which (...) it is carried out: personal as subjective, transpersonal as objective and interpersonal as intersubjective. From the position of socio-philosophical analysis, the generalization of the procedural characteristics of activity as its conceptual foundations is carried out. The analysis of the level and quality of the influence of archetypes on the activity is made on the basis of interpretation of archetypes in their connection with the concepts of “value”, “image”, “pattern”, “symbol”. The functional deterministic influence of archetypes and values presented in them on orientation and coordination, stereotyping and standardization, integration and systematization as indispensable components of any kind of activity is characterized. If Spinoza is a thinker very present in the Faculties of Philosophy, on the other hand, he is presented as one of the great forgotten of the humanist programs of secondary education. Contrary to what happened with other philosophers, who had more chance of spreading in non-specialized contexts (we can cite Nietzsche, Pascal, Plato or Schopenhauer as obvious examples), Spinoza is generally considered a excessively systematic author, and complex, whose works would have been written for a small group of scholars. (...) Nothing could be further from the truth. Spinoza’s life was full of completely surprising events, from his estrangement from the Jewish community (which repudiated him in a strict and disagreeable way), through his dalliances with heterodox currents which gradually grew in power, until his meeting with Leibniz and his intrepid travels. from one part of his native Holland to another. In this article, we examine the concept of desire in Spinoza's philosophy and its connection to the philosopher's decision to find the greater good. Since the greatest good, in turn, is nothing but its own enjoyment, we conclude that ignoring its existence, seeking it, and living it are, respectively, the conditions of the vulgar, the philosopher, and the wise, as what happened in the Garden of Epicurus. Метою роботи є визначення особливостей вертепу на теренах Гуцульщини у XX–XXI столітті. Наукова новизна даного дослідження полягає у тому, що у порівняльній ретроспективі досліджено особливості вертепу на Гуцульщині. Зроблено висновок, що театральне мистецтво «Вертепу» є пізнішим елементом різдвяно-новорічних свят, і він позначений значним впливом християнської релігії. Встановлено, що на період ХХ – початку ХХІ ст. ці театралізовані дійства стали структурними частинами циклу зимових свят на Гуцульщині. Визначено, що вертеп трансформувався у напрямку переосмислення сучасних подій, однак основна ідея вертепу – це (...) перемога добра над злом, допомога Спасителя, залишилися підґрунтям для розробки та втілення сценарію. Методологія дослідження визначена метою статті, тому використані діалектичний, аналітичний, функціональний методи для з’ясування особливостей сучасного вертепу, його дійових осіб, сценаріїв; функціонально-інструментальний метод допоміг дослідити трансформації, які склалися у сучасному дійстві «вертеп». Le concept de conflit revêt divers aspects. Entre les litiges, les violences, les différends, les désaccords, les guerres, il importe de définir les éléments de la conflictualité et le caractère institutionnel des recherches en matière de gestion et de résolution des conflits de nos jours. Néanmoins, nous sommes parvenus à percevoir que la clé du succès des résolutions des conflits pour une paix durable réside dans l’expérience humaine de la culpabilité et du pardon. Ce n’est certes pas des éléments nouveaux (...) pour les spécialistes et les diplomates en matière de gestion des conflits. Cependant, Ces deux notions sont reléguées au second plan au profit de compromis et de mesures coercitives à l’encontre des factions en conflits. Notre vision de la résolution des conflits est que sans la mise en exergue de l’expérience de la culpabilité et du pardon, les peuples vivront dans un conflit perpétuel qu’ils transmettront aux générations futures : la haine durable (sustainablehate). Est-il possible d’institutionnaliser le pardon et de mener des actions conduisant à une véritable culpabilité collective et individuelle préalable à toute réconciliation durable des peuples? La nature et la fréquence de nos conflits obligent à reconsidérer les méthodes d’approche jusqu’ici utilisées. En effet, c’est ce que tentent de faire certaines commissions pour la réconciliation appelée pour la plupart « Dialogue – Vérité – Réconciliation ; Dialogue – Justice – Réconciliation ; justice et paix, etc ». où les belligérants, les bourreaux et les victimes sont invités à l’aveu, à la vérité et au pardon pour un re-vivre ensemble. Mais dans l’espace d’un processus de réconciliation engagé à travers desdites commissions, les ballets de confessions aussi bien que les sentiments de victimisation se succèdent avant à l’arrière fond l’amnistie pour les bourreaux et l’octroi du pardon de la part des victimes. Cela, parait peu convainquant pour la raison que ces commissions sont en majeure partie installées par les vainqueurs du moment. Dans une certaine Afrique surtout, ces derniers (les vainqueurs) sont aidés par des alliés occidentaux de hauts niveaux. Il s’agit alors de processus où la paix est provisoire et se maintient au bout de la force ; et où les bourreaux sont toujours les autres. (shrink)

Питання її тлумачення бентежило філософський дискурс Заходу з часів античності, находило свої варіанти у Середньовіччі, трансформувалося в Нові часи. У сучасному вигляді, але в мультиверсному розумінні, представлено постмодерністською філософською традицією. Автор статті порушує питання розуміння поняття «свобода» східною філософською традицією на прикладі раннього конфуціанства. Відзначається, що розуміння теми свободи у філософії у Давньому Китаю докорінно відрізняється від західного. Пояснюється, що терміна «свобода» в давній китайській традиції власне не існувало. Це поняття розумілося філософськими (...) течіями Китаю як само собою зрозуміле, а щодо конфуціанської традиції воно розчинялось у головних для неї питаннях – про природу людину та способи гідної соціальної взаємодії. Why does one need creativity? On a personal level, improvisation with available resources is needed for online coping with unforeseen environmental stimuli when existing knowledge and apparent action strategies do not work. On a cultural level, the exploitation of existing cultural means and norms for the deliberate production of novel and valuable artifacts is a basis for cultural and technological development and extension of human action possibilities across various domains. It is less clear, however, how creativity develops and how exactly (...) one arrives at generating new action possibilities and producing multiple alternative action strategies using familiar objects. In this theoretical paper, we first consider existing accounts of the creative process in the Alternative Uses Task and then present an alternative interpretation, drawing on sociocultural views and an embodied cognition approach. We explore similarities between the psychological processes underlying the generation of new uses in the Alternative Uses Task and children’s pretend play. We discuss possible cognitive mechanisms and speculate how the generation of new action possibilities for common objects in pretend play can be related to adults’ ability to generate new action strategies associated with object use. Implications for creativity development in humans and embodied artificial agents are discussed. (shrink)

У статті розглянуто питання особливостей глобалізаційного процесу на прикладі китайської традиційної культури. Зокрема автор зосереджує увагу на актуальному для сучасного філософського дискурсу питанні щодо способів поєднання нацією принципів культурної та соціальної традиційності зі світовими тенденціями постмодерного індустріального суспільства. Доводиться на прикладі китайської традиції, що на даному етапі розвитку Китаю вдається успішно застосовувати позитивні тенденції глобалізації у своїх національних інтересах, зокрема економічних, не втрачаючи при цьому культурної національної ідентичності. Автор обстоює думку, що ядром етнічної ідентичності китайців, їхньої несхожості на представників будь-яких (...) інших культур, стало конфуціанство, яке являє собою фундаментальне етико-соціальне вчення, що століттями формувало суспільні, культурні, моральні тощо цінності китайського етносу. Конфуціанська культура заснована на світському понятті «доброчесного мужа», носія головних моральних властивостей: справедливості і гуманності. Автор доходить висновку, що засадничим принципом глобальних процесів щодо китайської культури є опертя виключно на національні традиційні ментальні образи, які є навіки сталими, перманентними і непорушними. Стверджується, що сучасний стан інтеграційних та інноваційних процесів китайського суспільства має своєю передумовою активний пошук способів і шляхів розвитку соціокультурних інновацій на тлі економічної та культурної глобалізації, прагнення до модернізації та індустріалізації власної економіки та суспільства з метою розвитку його внутрішніх потреб, спираючись виключно на цінності традиційної культури. The phenomenon of volunteer activity is actively studied by psychologists and sociologists from different countries. Despite the fact that the interpretation of volunteering has some distinctive features due to cultural differences, they do not contradict each other in general. The greatest interest is aroused by the motives and values of volunteers, the study of which has become significant in sociological and psychological research over the past decade. This article presents studies of the motives and values of Russian volunteers.

In an ordinary interaction, communicants have various, mostly unconscious goals which reflect their interactional, social and personal needs. In these interactions, people’s minds try to find a balance between reaching these goals and consuming cognitive energy. If a speaker puts too little effort into speech production, she risks not achieving her communicative goals. This is especially typical when the atmosphere is relaxed, a good example of which is family discourse. An analysis of recorded conversations shows that there are certain regular (...) manifestations of risk-taking in family discourse, such as expressing immature thoughts, raising a large variety of topics and overguessing. A substantial amount of risk-taking in family discourse is in one way or another connected with false confidence in the interlocutors’ common ground. Family members know each other well, which results in an overestimation of the similarity of their understanding of words and objects. This attitude leads them to use cryptic, hard-to-comprehend speech. Quick, everyday interactions are mostly automated, and the speakers do not recognise that their speech is full of implicitness and underdeterminacy. (shrink)

The purpose of this study is to analyse the implications of Sen's impossibility result, the liberal paradox, for orthodox welfare economics. Because the rather special format of social choice theory makes it a little difficult to be sure of the relevance of this result, the whole dilemma is posed here in terms of a rather informal analysis of information al patterns.On the one hand, it is argued that the traditional approach to welfare economics, including both utilitarianism and Paretian ordinalism, contains (...) severe informational constraints eliminating the use of all kinds of independent non-utility information in the social evaluation process. This property, called welfarism, is also present in the weak Pareto principle, which conflicts with even minimal requirements of personal liberty according to Sen's result.On the other hand, it is argued that there is in fact little to be “resolved” in this problem in spite of several attempts to circumvent the conflict. These studies are argued to be mainly ad hoc solutions to the formal problem and relevant only to the extent they indicate how severe restrictions are needed to avoid the paradox. The analogy with the prisoner's dilemma does not work either. Since liberal values are intrinsically non-welfaristic, the liberal paradox can be interpreted as only one, but a rather powerful, example of the informational deficiency of the orthodox approach.Finally, it is argued that the liberal paradox has striking implications for both the concept of preference and social optimum as well as empirical research on social welfare. This means that if the impossibility is to be taken seriously we need to revalue both the status of utility information and the role of the Pareto principle in social welfare analysis. (shrink)

In the absence of their own theoretical tradition in the field of conflictology, the long domination of ideological stereotypes and illusions about the role of religion in society, and in the context of the uniqueness of those socio-religious processes that exploded in the 90s of the last century, the researchers found themselves in a real way. On the one hand, the achievements of Western conflictology had just (...) begun to flow into scientific circulation and were still waiting for its processing, on the other - for the emergence of their own thorough conflictological intelligence it took some time., for tendencies of development of religious relations, of course, are viewed only with the run of historical events. У статті Алли Арістової «Міграційна криза в Європі: виклики для міжрелігійних відносин» визначені й систематизовані особливості сучасної міграційної хвилі з мусульманских країн на терени Європи, її відмінності від попередніх міграційних напливів останнього століття та потенційні впливи на міжрелігійні відносини та соціорелігійні процеси в європейському соціумі.

Порубіжжя століть і роки першого десятиліття стали надзвичайно серйозним випробуванням для тих галузей науки, які вважають дослідження релігійних конфліктів своєю компетенцією, – передовсім для соціології релігії та конфліктології. Останні були вимушені визнати, що класична конфліктологічна традиція, на якій вони базували свої теоретичні розвідки, практично втратила свої евристичні можливості. Ці галузі постали перед настійною необхідністю вироблення нових парадигм, причому множинних, життєздатних і конкуруючих, здатних пояснити і описати не просто – користаючи заяложений вислів – «зростання ролі релігійного чинника в міжнародних подіях», але (...) зростання впливу саме релігійних конфліктів на соціальні системи різного рівня. Відтак предметом широких релігієзнавчих дискусій стають доволі болючі проблеми: як відійти від стереотипів у методологічному аналізі сучасних процесів трансформації релігії в цілому та глобальної систем міжрелігійних відносин; які теоретичні й методологічні засоби уможливлять нові підходи до пізнання релігійних конфліктів і, головне, принципів управління ними; як запобігти швидкому застаріванню й евристичному «знесиленню» понятійного апарату; в який спосіб загальмувати темп, з яким знання втрачає свою актуальність, тощо. The article actualizes the significance of scholastic encyclopedias for the religious and secular culture of medieval Europe. Their role as a compendium of accumulated knowledge and at the same time ideological synthesis of Christian religious doctrine and scientific achievements, ancient and scholastic traditions, university, and church-monastery intellectual culture is shown. The main attention is paid to the multi-volume Vincent of Beauvais’ work «Speculum Maius» as the most significant work among medieval encyclopedias and its conceptual completion. The extraordinary role of the (...) encyclopedia as a documentary evidence of knowledge, ideas, worldview, mentality of the Western European Middle Ages is proved. The author outlines the principles of codification of «The Great Mirror»; highlights the influence of the Christian-theological context on the content, structure and methods of organizing its material; the relationship of encyclopedic work with the processes of development and rationalization of the religious worldview. The focus is on the universalizing potential of the Christianity concepts, the extraordinary expression of which was the work by Vincent of Beauvais. The aspiration for universality was manifested both in the desire to understand the world as a Whole, created by God-completed omnipresence, and in attempts to base all the accumulated human experience, all kinds of knowledge and life on the principles of the Christian worldview. The encyclopedia is valued as a real «mirror» of an entire era, the medieval reception of Christianity, the history of European science and knowledge. (shrink)

Одна із істотних особливостей історії ісламу і мусульманської релігійної духовності – культ знань. Іслам виробив зовсім іншу модель співвідношення віри і знання, знань про Бога і знань про Всесвіт, релігії і науки, ніж та, яка була властива християнству. За кілька століть ця відмінність стане разючою: ми побачимо Європейську цивілізацію, де церковна влада жорстоко винищувала паростки вільнодумства і науково-думства і мусульманську цивілізацію, де культ знань набув сакрального виміру. Широкий розвиток середньовічної мусульманської культури, науки й мистецтва, який здійснив чималий внесок у розвиток (...) світової наукової думки, постав як втілення мусульманами в життя одного з головних релігійних обов’язків – отримання знань, адже шлях до знання тлумачився в ісламі як шлях до осягнення могутності й милості Всевишнього. «Немає ліпшого вклоніння Аллахові, ніж набуття знань», - буде написано на мактабах і медресе. Вчителі й учні цитуватимуть рядки Корану: «О Господи! Примнож моє знання»! Кожен новий мусульманський правитель – від халіфа до його радників і міністрів – мусив збудувати мечеть, власний мавзолей і… бібліотеку. (shrink)

Since the beginning of the 1990s, the progressive growth and activity of various denominations, the controversial and turbulent processes of organizational development of religious and church life have become the object of close attention of sociologists and religious scholars. Statistical and sociological data have convincingly shown that the quantitative composition of religious communities and the number of existing denominations has increased ten times, that the religiosity of the Ukrainian population has become a mass phenomenon, and in the public consciousness and (...) public opinion there have been significant shifts in the credibility of the Church's religious values. As a result, an increasing number of scholars have firmly argued for the era of “religious revival” in Ukraine. (shrink)

The subject of our consideration was the question of the essence and specifics of the implementation of the communicative-translation function by the religion. Tasks put forward within the division: 1) characterize the specifics and structure of religious communication in the paradigm of the general theory of communication; 2) analyze the transformations of religious communication in the modern age; 3) highlight the specifics of the communicative and translated function of religion and the directions of its transformation in a globalized world.
