11 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT... SIMON PEGG

_bin told me to do it, so here it is:

01. He's a good actor
Yes, we know he can do comedy in many ways, but he's GOOD. Think "Shaun of the Dead", when Mikey tells him his mom is a zombie. The look on his face: the tears, the anguish, the fear, the desperation, it's all there... he truly is devastated about what's going on to the most important person in his world. Then you have "Run, Fatboy, Run," which is mostly comedy, but then his son goes missing and he's (again) desperate and helpless and you can read it in his face, his back, the way he speaks. You believe him, and that's what actors have to accomplish.

02. He's a writer
He's a wonderful writer. He's not a pretentious writer (something I always appreciate), he's just funny and geeky and he's a fanboy too. He loves television and he loves writing for it, you can feel that in the movies and shows he writes. He wants to make people laugh, but he's not obvious in his jokes. It's not toilet humor, it's geeky/nerdy humor (before being geeky became the new hot). He's smart, he makes good movies, and he has the grace to pair up with other great people to create fun stuff. Oh, and he even wrote a book for children. How sweet is that?

03. He is funny
He has a wonderful sense of humour. How do I know this? Well, first it's the way he writes. You gotta have humour to come up with stuff like that. Then, you have to watch outtakes of things he's been on, like Shaun of the Dead or Black Books, he cracks up all the time. He's not clown-funny, he's just funny without trying to be, and that's the best kind of funny there is.

04. Shaun of the Dead
It's my second favorite movie of all-time, and I don't like zombies. But he made me watch two hours of them because he's funny, and wonderful as Shaun. I love this movie. I hardly ever skip any scene (ok, maybe some at the beginning), and it's all because of Simon.

05. Spaced
Then you have "Spaced", which is one of my favorite series, and "Tim Bisley", which is one of my favorite characters on television and my tv husband. Simon managed to create a character that is normal but a geek, someone you can relate to (maybe you know someone who's just like Tim) and that never happens. You watch this show and then Shaun and you just can't deny that the man is a funny, talented comedy actor/writer, and you keep watching what he does, because he's good.

06. Best tweets ever
I don't follow a lot of people on Twitter but as soon as I found out Simon had one, I had to follow him. I'm so glad I did. He's posted some of the funniest/best things in the history of twitter, haha. Like when he and Edgar Wright started posting "as if it was 1997", talking about the rumours of a new Star Wars and how they couldn't wait to watch and love it, etc. Then, last week, there was Simon posting this wonderful combo:

Yes!!!! I've been accepted into Hogwarts to do a post grad in technical drawing. Second choice after Bristol Uni but hey, cute witches.

Oh great they don't allow dogs. It's either cats or toads. That's fucking disgraceful. I'm making a formal complaint to UCCA. Magic that!

They've made an acception because Minnie can speak German. Yay!!

They've revoked the offer due to my inability to distinguish between 'exception' and 'acception'. I'm doing a B-tech at Cheltenham Ladies.

And I'm playing Renesmee in Breaking Dawn. Using MoCap to turn me into a creepy, psychic baby. It's tough on Kristen, she has to carry me.

I actually got the part because I am an exact cross between Rpattz and Kstew. Who knew such beauty could in combination produce this face?

Come on! A time traveling Superbad reboot called Bad To The Super. Me and Nick as the older Michael and Jonah. That's gonna write itself!!!

@edgarwright could make his acting debut as old McLovin! He'd steal the emeffing show. Are you listening Universal?

LMAO!!! Oh, and there was that one time when he and Edgar decided to write slashy fanfiction. Good times.

07. BFFs
He works with his friends, and some friends they are: Nick Frost, Edgar Wright, Jessica Stevenson, Dylan Moran. They're all writers, they all love comedy, and they're all kind of awesome as well. Fun stuff.

08. Heterosexual Partners for life
He calls his best friend, Nick Frost, his Heterosexual Partner for Life. That's love. And it makes me love their friendship because they're hillarious but you can feel it's not for show, they really do care about each other. If that doesn't make you go awwww, I don't know what will.

09. he doesn't think he's the shit
Considering I don't really follow celebrity's lives on television or magazines, I don't know much about this. But from what I can gather from shows he's been in, and interviews I've read... the man is pretty normal and simple, he doesn't think he's the most fantastic actor in the world, the best writer in the business. He just does his thing, keeps his feet on the ground and goes on with his day. I love that he's down-to-earth and a fan of other people's work. He's human.

10. He's a geek
Or a nerd. Not sure what the difference is. But he's a fanboy, just like us. He's a fan so he understands fans, as a fan he knows what makes fans tick. And he's managed to include shoutouts to fandoms in his work, from praying to Buffy to having Gillian Anderson (his beloved Scully) in one of his movies.

11. He's my favorite
I've realized in time he's my favorite famous person in the entire world. He's the most awesome awesome that ever awesomed. Why? Because he makes me smile. Everytime I see a picture or an article that features him, I smile. He has that positive effect on me that no one else has. He brights up my day without even knowing it, and I'd be a bad fan if I didn't tell you all how wonderful he is. Trying hard to so sound too stalkerish or insane, I'd just give you this piece of advice: watch Spaced, watch Shaun, follow his work... you won't regret it and, in time, you'll realize he makes you happy too.

There you have it. I could go on, but I decided to stop at 11 (uneven numbers!).
