Growth of the Soil by Knut Hamsun It's often called his greatest book. And having read Pan, I have to agree.

I'm currently reading "The Lost Life of Eva Braun" by Angela Lambert. If you like bios, and are tempted by this one...pass on it. What a horribly done biography. I can't keep sifting through these stupid details the author keeps shoving in about her own unrelated mother issues and her (while deserved) comments about David Irving. Instead of a decent biography, she drags too much personal crap into it. And her web citations and footnotes are seriously annoying.
