I know the majority of westerners think that Europe is the cradle to an amazing civilization, that it's provided so much to the world. But really, when I think of Europe, I think of a place that was dark and depressing for much of history, that was filled with pagan barbarians who regularly plundered and raped or stuck peacefully to their various pastures, that received/took the light of civilization from other peoples, and now thinks itself to be the source for all it has. Spoiled crybaby that needed two world wars on its land to put the people in line and pacify them.
The irony of fearing the uncleanliness of animals, the smell of livestock, yet putting its very insides which produce the outsides into one's own stomach. Granted, animals simply are dirty, but why eat their insides realising this outside assumption?
I won't go into detail about this event because the greatest fact is that most people don't know any of the details of what's going on and chances are a great deal of Americans think the US is furious because they think Russian troops are on American soil.
It's just ridiculous that every single newspaper talks about these events in such a distanced tone, in an effort to be unbiased most likely, but by doing that they're ignoring how ridiculous it is that the EU and the US are trying to tell Russia what to do. Probably the best of this I've seen was on wikipedia, where it said that Iceland has demanded Russia to pull its troops out of Georgia. Or how about the EU talking about what the consequences will be for Russia now. Doesn't the EU get a lot of its oil from Russia?
And everyone with a mind is definately wondering why Rice and anyone else in the US would condemn these acts... So why is it that newspapers simply mention what the officials are saying? I know this would change them dramatically from being "unbiased" to biased, but someone has to do it, otherwise the whole world is going to be drawn into World War III through the same way it was drawn into the first World War, because "we have to protect the small states you don't know about who are actually our allies". People what you're told is the farthest from the truth.
Related to the forum thread, I wasn't surprised one bit when my reply mentioning that copyrights are bullshit legal jargon got deleted. Never mind the fact that I wasn't directly encouraging anyone to go out and steal books, make copies, and sell them at double price. In general I thought copyrighting was meant to protect the writer from plagiarism and to keep others from profiting off works that they had no part in creating. This I understand.
But what annoys me is the people who get so hyped over legal technicalities. Now I'm not the type of person who gives a crap about legalism, just as I don't care much about government, because on a spiritual side I see these as stupid material entities that rise and decay just like everything else in this world. So why waste time arguing over copyright laws for works made by someone who died over fifty years ago? Because their family deserves the copyrights? Or because their publishing company? That's bullshit, because imo, the families most likely did nothing to help (aside from emotional support) and publishing companies are leeches. And I don't even care if the author himself was greedy enough to specify in his will (or the like) that he wants his copyright to exist for so-and-so years after his death and that he wants the profit to go to his families or whatnot. That's greed to me - you create a piece of work and no matter how much you want to claim it's yours, it's no more yours than you are owned by your parents. Some will disagree for me and ask for a more logical explanation but I'm not really fighting with logical minds about this, since logical minds only understand legal jargon that decays like a rotting carcass.
The same goes for music/movies/video game downloads. The majority of this stuff is shit and the creators know it. Most musicians, most movies, and most video games, wouldn't get any money at all, but this is more true for movies. Movies above all are for the most part shit, because in general people only want to watch them once. If you could get a refund for every movie you've spent your money on that you didn't like, then most likely the movie industry would go bankrupt. They rely on curious people, bored people who just want to be entertained. Once in a blue moon there is an amazing movie that a person wants to see over and over again and buys knowing that they will watch it at least a second time.
So there are many music artists/bands that I like a lot and would gladly buy all of their albums... if I had the money. But I don't see why that should be a requisite for my right to enjoy their creativity, since again imo artists shouldn't be looking for money but simply appreciation. I don't care if some Pink Floyd fan with lots of money has bought all of their albums, in cassette, cd, sacd, and vinyl form, not to mention has bought their merchandise and what not. I'm a bigger fan because I've listened to their songs literally thousands of times and really paid attention to the lyrics, each note, discussed the music with others and turned their music into a lifestyle. Now I'm sure the members of Pink Floyd appreciate the one thousand dollars or so that that rich fan gave them, but the kind of appreciation and loyalty to the band that I have is the kind that money can't buy. Of course there are artists who truly are just after the money, but I don't usually listen to them and when I do, I honestly don't care if I'm not endorsing their greed. And when I do actually buy an album, for example when I bought Pink Floyd's 20th anniversary (or was it 30th) Dark Side of the Moon on vinyl, it truly shows appreciation, since rarely do I like an artist enough to actually buy something that I technically already "have".
And I vow to not make double standards; if at any point in time I should create something beautiful, be it a song, a book, a poem, or an idea, I'll give it away freely, asking nothing in return, but hoping for a great kind of appreciation that money can't buy.
So I've realized that discussion forums are a big joke and most likely a government set-up. There are always several types of people in a forum - the lurkers, who simply enjoy reading the information/drama everyone else makes. Then there are the posters, who fall into other categories - the popular, non-mod poster, whom other posters idolize and often waste kilobits by saying, "well said soandso_58" or "as usual, soandthat87 has it right!". The second category of posters are the people who say the forementioned comments. Then you have just your casual poster, who posts interesting things, and often gets some of the groupies of the previously mentioned categories to back them up, but they usually aren't out for fame or worship. There are also the mods, who spend every single hour of the day on the forums, have no life, are either good or bad people, but in either case, their life is the forum, they invest a lot of time into avatars/signatures, and when they see an opportunity to use their "god-given power" (as they see it), they use it swiftly and never gloat about it, this is very important - a mod is not allowed to gloat about his/her power. When a new mod arrives it can often be a big occasion, the groupies may often congratulate the mod, as they always feel a need to praise those in power, but in general their true love lies with the popular non-mods.
And then we have our final type of forum user, the type I fit in to, and this is called the "rebels", not because they themselves take this name, but because anytime they are actively participating in a forum they have a tendency to stir up trouble, or to introduce "ideas" that disturb the "peace" of the forum. These are the radicals who always say something objectionable, or not in line with the forum guidelines; and even though what they have to say is often relevant, true, or important, they will most likely be silent. In fact these are the true saviours, the only people who can go up against the popular non-mods, and because they usually have a life, will even talk back to the mods because they don't care if they get banned.
I don't know why I bothered to go back to discussion forums, since I never at any point in time liked the idea of moderators, forum guidelines, post-counts, and the term avatar should only be used in reference to a god manifested on Earth in material form. They're convenient in the sense that... well they're not really convenient at all. If anything I should back to just using newsgroups.
I'm a strange guy. No let's back up... just an anti-social guy. I have a common compassion for all people, a compassion that allows me to be kind to other people on a general level, allows me to see past their stupid actions and say, "To each his own" because in the end, no one should be told not to do what they truly want to do.
I created this journal as an outlet for my various pursuits which will at the right time be revealed. I did not make this to make new friends, but rather to obtain once againa acquaintances who share the same interests as I do. Of course, if true friendship should arise out of this, the true and rare kind of friendship that is marked by true understanding of each other, I would not object to that.
It will be a point in this journal not to make it easy for others to like me. I will be blunt, brutal, and say things that most other people only think to themselves and I will do this often.
So why friend me? There's really no reason to, other than being curious. The only promise I can offer is that everything I write will be unique and anything that is not unique will come from a truly unique mind. Believe it or not.
