The Emmys: 61st time is a charm!!!!!!

Congratulations Jon Cryer, The Daily Show, and Michael Emerson!!!!!!

PS: My throat is sore from screaming! But Michael's win is so worth it ... as long as he doesn't have to witness it in person. :)

Wake me up when September gets here

Sorry I'm so behind on LJ ... and answering e-mail ... and working on my novel ... and life ("don't talk to me about life")--both first and Second. Just been kind of depressed, headachey, and "somnolent" (medical talk for tired/groggy/inert) the past few months, and to top it all off, my 17-year-old car has "died" (tech-speak for it's past due for an inspection and I already know it needs a gas tank, a water pump, and probably brakes and hate the thought of paying over $1000 to resurrect something I hardly use, not to mention that at 20 mpg it wasn't eligible for the "Cash for Clunkers" program).

I've actually resorted to using Facebook to keep in touch since a whole bunch of old friends I haven't talked to in years have suddenly emerged from the non-Internet woodwork there. Not that I like Facebook with its ugly, blindingly stark-white, uncustomizable page layout. But it is a really fast way to check your friends' statuses--as well as see what their scores are in the page-clogging games they waste their time with. (Seriously, they think I have a problem with Second Life?) And a fast way to post Interesting Tidbits I Found in My Armpit on the Web One Midsummer's Evening. (Any Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fans out there?)

So the answer to the burning question I know you all have is, yes, I'm still "alive" (medical speak for "not quite dead").

In the meantime, here are some cool videos I've been enjoying (yesssss, Michael "Third Time in a Row's a Charm" Emerson is nominated, along with LOST, Simon Baker [who, on his first time out, will surely lose to Hugh "Fifth Time's a Charm" Laurie], and The Daily Show!):

Don't miss the Emmy Awards this Sunday night! (How cool would it be if Michael Emerson finally got his overdue Emmy the same year Geoffrey Rush scored a Tony?!) And be sure to be a-talkin' like Robert Newton-- I means a "pirate" on Saturday, arrrr!

PS: John Oliver's breaking into acting now in the new show Community, premiering this week. Hope I'm not too somnolent to remember to watch it. Just what I need, a new TV season to break me out of my Pristiq-induced coma.

Redefinition Accomplished

Meet the new boss ... same as the old boss? Nah, no one else could be that bad. Just posting this cuz I have a huge crush on John Oliver, especially when he gets all linguistical, and I haven't had a chance to post any of his reports in at least ... ever? (I meant to do his St. Patrick's Day one, but the time got away from me, as usual.)

Overseas Contingency Operations? Say that three times fast. Hmm, let's see how long they can keep it up. Just to stay ahead of the curve for once, let me anticipate the new acronym we're going to be hearing everywhere: OCO? Nah, OSCO sounds better.
