A plea for submissions.

We're planning to get a portion of the CMS journal online sometime in the next few weeks, so we could use some content. So, anything you've written that you consider particularly new, or interesting, or, for lack of a better term, good, would be much appreciated. The journal mailing list doesn't seem to be working for me at the moment, so if you could send 'em on down to rauch.p@gmail.com, that'd be just dandy.

(Also sent via email, but, hey, cover all the bases, ere going to the flyers.)

Welcome to new students

Those were great presentationsd/bios. I'll be trying to put names to voices for the next few weeks, but feel free to come up and say Hi. Now if I can just match the LJ name to the RL names...

Speaking of Computer Speech and Emotions...

Re conversations from Prof. Turk's class, I posted to my LJ an article which addresses this very subject. Ilya, here is a link from the article which provides a history of speech synthesized voices, including the rabid-sounding Whispering Wendy (one day I am going to hook that voice up to a personal security system and scare the socks off of anyone who tries to break into my system/house/hovercar)

latest hiphop sampling

Wow! It's getting to the point where I think the mashup of Hip-hop and Cyberpunk are ruling the digital revolution! So great!!!

Can we start an archive of links to fun stuff, since it is the freakin future of music??? I'll get it started:

New Media, New Markets and Distribution Channels

Joellen's post to the CMS mailing list
The Long Tail
by Chris Anderson, editor-in-chief, Wired magazine
http://www.wired.com/wired/archive…

reminded me that the day the Bioware folks were in town doing their presentation at Sloan, they were also talking to a local game company about the possibility of distributing games through their online store. I s anyone producing/selling games strictly through an online store?

Games and Virual Marketing Article, by Henry Jenkins

I posted it to my own LJ
http://www.livejournal.com/~kestre…
The article includes a lot of really good info/links. Also, for anyone interested in this topic, I would recommend two science-fiction stories, the first a shor story by Verner Vinge called "Fairmont High," (available for some price like a dollar on
http://www.fictionwise.com)
and the second a book by William Gibson, Pattern Recognition.
